Sam really is the kind of guy to bungee jump and then go "that was efficient"
I dont think he even yelled or screamed on the way down. I think Toby's camera mic would've picked it up. My man just went "yep, got to bungee jump" and walked out. Sam truly is a man of sheer focus and will.
Is that a sambucha reference?

@@spamchamvids2404 I technically don't live in Queenstown actually. I live in Arrowtown
With how many close calls happened throughout the whole season, imagine how different this all would've been if Adam hadn't left his jacket behind in Episode 1
That would have changed the game.. Totally!
I love this comment lmao, you might be right 😂
not to ruin the fun but that kind off thing is easily offset by just a single traffic light
Also the ferry
Not by a lot, they actually discussed this on the podcast on Nebula. Adam and Ben wouldn't have had coins after the dunes which Sam and Toby had, so they had the upper hand of being able to afford a nerf bullet.
After watching every season of Jet Lag in the last two days, I can firmly say that Toby is probably the best partner that Sam has had so far! A ball of energy, super quick on her feet, really clutch in very important moments, and her ability to adapt to a bad position and thing long term with Sam was top notch!
she also knits, which was oddly crucial for two challenges
Sam said as much during episodes of The Layover podcast for Season 5.
Although Brian is the funniest
@@wyldriceJoseph was the smartest and Michelle is the toughest

Toby was the real MVP in this series! Knitting the tie was the first factor letting on to the win. Bring her back on the show again :)
That, the unwavering smile even when she thought she was defeated by 2 upvotes. Just great.
@zeveroarerules * two "uplikes" which I like even better.
shes comming back for season 10 in Australia
Spoiler
Back in Season 10! 🎉
I love how Ben and Adam still remember the Okaihau Express lyrics
And how amazing Adam’s real singing voice actually is!
I’m pretty sure that not even *I* would forget them after hearing Adam and Ben go through the song so many times.
I loved "the ballad to the kind stranger that let me pass" at 7:38 😂
That song will be etched into their memory for a decade at least.
they forgot to give credit to the Script writer & director of this staged show
Okay, was anyone else thrown way off about the size of the Elephant rocks at 7:04? Like when they were numbering them I was like “okay, some boulders, nice” and then Toby stands next to them and they are ENORMOUS!
yeah i was like oh how are they gonna remember those they arent very big and then toby went over there and they were giant
Totally! 😮😮😮
They aren't actually big, toby is just reaaaallly small
No
They're small compared to the Kura Tawhiti rocks.
Defeatedly singing the Okaihau Express was the most depressing part of this season for Ben and Adam.
It's like when a movie score has the same melody play twice in different contexts.
So many perfect little moments. Ben literally shaking about the perfectly timed curse card. Adam still remembering all the lyrics to the Okaihau Express song. Sam creating bungee jumping footage that would put any travel vlogger to shame, then acting like it was nothing. The brilliant end credits teaser for the next season.
I guess Toby's Reddit post was right. It's all about the jets you lag along the way.
When Ben and Adam started singing the Okaihau Express song when they knew they lost, I just started dying of laughter 😭Great season as always !!!
Spoiler: I swear Toby, with her knitting alone, gave them the gap that they had in the end. Excellent teammate for sure!
Toby came in clutch on a lot of those challenges. I can't imagine Sam/Byran/Joseph knitting, making a deviled egg, or making cheese lol
I’m not sure how much of a lead that got them. Even if they missed the early ferry, it didn’t end up getting them much extra time because of docking delays and the veto on the next challenge. I don’t remember if they ever explained what happens if both teams veto a challenge while they’re both at it.
@@ferusskywalker9167 Vetos DO remove the challenge. Ben and Adam didn’t have to wait for an hour or complete a challenge after getting off the ferry because Sam and Tobie(sp?) already vetoed it and waited an hour. The only way to get past a challenge and leave it there for the other team is to spend 100 coins to skip.
@@caltheuntitled8021 oh, right lol. Since they have to wait for the person to pass the gate, they prob would just wait around in the city until it happened

Watching Ben and Adam just eating straight Wheatabix was the highlight of the episode
Yeah what the damn hell? 😂
I just finished that part and I honestly think you're right. It was glorious to see them just take a chomp out of a brick of weet-bix like it's not a cereal.
If anything their review of dried wheatabix wasn't harsh enough
I wasn't sure if they were going for humor or if they didn't know it's a breakfast cereal. I ate those as a kid and would dump a thoroughly unholy amount of sugar on them as they floated in my bowl. Ah, memories....
@@mikesimms1 very relatable
Sam and Toby were too good of a team, their combined resourcefulness was finally too good for Ben and Adam's unbreakable teamwork bond
Agreed. Ben and Adam had strong devotion and teamwork and Sam and Toby were both excellent strategists. Combined, Sam and Toby were able to settle on decisions much more effectively because they saw relatively the same objective merit in their options. Ben and Adam’s bond is just iconic though at this point.
Also, Toby just brought a lot of unique skills that really helped. From practical skills useful in challenges (e.g the Knitting one) to more subtle skills like strategic decision making.
She really feels like a partner of Sam, rather than the “Sam and his buddy who carries the bags” feel in some previous seasons.
They sucked but got lucky
@@ThomasDumont27 how exactly?
@@ThomasDumont27lol they made every right decision, even when I thought I knew better their idea was better
**SPOILERS**
I have identified the following moments as key moments where Adam and Ben were given the L:
- The seconds they lost being forced to roll the die causing them to lose Auckland.
-Misjudging how far into the Wellington challenge Sam and Toby were
-Deciding to, twice(!), just follow Sam and Toby without enough coins to curse them to slow them down
-Hoping, twice again(!), that Sam and Toby can't cook
And, most importantly of all
-Adam forgetting his jacket
Also, not being careful in Auckland to not get shot with the nerf gun. They would have swept Auckland if not for that.
and messing up the okaihow (don’t mid the spelling) express song lmao they should send out a music video
Him forgetting the jacket on the first day wasn't that impactful
@@ok-vk9fv i think it was just a joke, it definitely wasnt the most important haha
Even though it was a crazy season with plot twists, I´d say that in the third episode it was already decided who would win. There was always a better route to take and once Sam and Toby build up momentum on the best route they had enough coins to plow through the obstacles they got.
Adam leaving his jacket at the start started a huge snowball effect of close Ls, coin shortages, bad routes and road blocks from being behind and they STILL barely lost with Toby and Sam skipping 2 challenges sheesh. #goats
the reason why it was so close was because of the super lucky cursed, and the fact that sam and toby’s ferry was delayed, and took longer to dock, AND they had to veto the first challenge
@@YourAverageSpeedrunner all of that happened but it’s funny that they lost multiple challenges by a few mins and they spent 15 mins getting adams jacket at the start lol

The only bad thing with these Jet Lag games is that the contestants have to rush through some beautiful places. I mean they are on the other side of the Earth, but their experience of the country is limited. It would be fun with a true travel channel with Ben & Adam.
yeah I have the same thought. It would be great if they did a mega season where the challenges were designed to keep you in one city for several hours. Or even a mini season where there were lots of little challenges to do around one city.
At least Ben and Adam seem to genuinely cherish the time they spend and make the most out of the journey
It's still a good experience imo to be able to see a LOT of different places. Most people might just hang around Auckland most of the time.

Knitting the tie while being not allowed to even say "tie" is still a great feat.

She was sooooo annoying though.
Though I had been rooting for Ben and Adam all season, the moment Toby asked, "Are we going to lose the game?" after failing to reach 5 points, I decided I couldn't wish losing on Toby, and I was okay with them winning. She's definitely, in my opinion, had the best dynamic with Sam, able to tone down his competitiveness and bring a sympathetic side to his team.
what are you on about theres nothing wrong with being competitive? Its what makes it fun and makes him deserve to win wtf
@@linaandersson6112He hardly ever seems like he turns off "go mode/content mode" to have fun playing these games. Being competitive is great, but it detracts from his likability somewhat

Id say its a YOU problem, you need to work on accepting different qualities in people and not be so insecure over other ppl having ambition and competitiveness.
I think my favourite moment was when they had to run for president with the E curse and Toby knitted a full on tie so they didn't need to stop and by one.

Oh my gosh watching Ben and Adam with the Seek app was SO PAINFUL for two separate reasons, either of which would have been painful on their own, let alone combined!!
1) The Seek app actually works offline! You could’ve done everything right there.
2) When you’re IDing in real time, it will tell you whatever level of specificity it can get - often it’ll recognize the family or genus, but be unsure of the exact species. It sounds like that would have counted for the challenge, but when you’re uploading photos it only gives you an ID if it can recognize the exact species!
Thank goodness that wasn’t any kind of deciding factor or I don’t think I could have handled it 😄

I don't think so... If they hadn't drawn it they would have just had to edit the series down to be shorter, like they have for many previous seasons. Amen!!!!
I feel this season didn't have enough opportunities for the trailing team to catch up. Once one team gets ahead, they get enough coins to slow the other team down or speed ahead even more, and basically snowball to victory. Perhaps a mechanic that would give the trailing team a fighting chance would be to allow them to complete a completed challenge for perhaps double the coins (probably after a certain margin of distance or time) and get more opportunities to slow the leading team down.
I mean it was still pretty close, and I feel like if you give more opportunities for the losing team to catch up you'd end up with the opposite problem: it ends up being so close that it might basically be a toss-up
I was actually thinking the exact opposite, the trailing team has too much of an advantage.Anytime a team decides to go for the cleared route and miss out on the coins they don't need to spend time doing the challenges so they catch up.
they forgot to give credit to the Script writer & director of this staged show
Isn't that what the curses are meant to do?
Up to now i think this is the best season of Jet Lag. I especially loved it when the challenges had something to do with the place where they had to be done. That way you learned more about the country. And the challenges does not seem that random. Really great Job! I hope for more seasons with location based challenges!

Toby was an excellent team mate, and actually helped with planning etc. as opposed to previous team mates of Sam, who seemed like they were just going along for the show. One thing about Adam and Ben - they ALWAYS have a sense of urgency. Even when getting out of the car to go into a supermarket, they run. Sam did not have this urgency in previous seasons and that might have counted against him. His style is normally to be slower but accurate and calculated, but he showed much higher levels of urgency as well in this season.
Seeing a 55 minute long episode made me instantly happy
Jet lagged really do make Wednesday the best day of the week. Hope there is a new season soon.
They already shot it last week, so it should be here in approx. two months, based on previous experience.
Look at the end, already filmed.
I’d expect two months as well based off previous seasons! Or 5 weeks for nebula subscribers!
I CAN'T WAIT FOR JAPAN! I AM SO EXCITED FOR SEASON 6
congrats to sam and toby!! im always a ben and adam girlie but they did so well this season and truly deserved the win!!!!!! i loved toby and she was seriously the best partner, hope to see her again!!! as a kiwi, this season meant a lot to me and made it a lot more special, especially since u rarely hear anyone ever mention nz!!!!!! thank you so much to sam, adam, ben and toby and of course the whole jet lag team for making this happen!!!! cant wait for jet lag: japan omg!!
Absolutely loved Sam and Toby. Please bring Toby back for another season she’s so cool.
Toby has been the best guest , would be great to have her back for a future series of Jet Lag! New Zealand has been my favourite one so far :)
Seriously bummed that the good fortune that Ben and Adam had didn't last nearly as long as I'd have hoped, but stellar work by Sam and Toby and a hearty congrats are in order. Can't wait to see Jet Lag Japan!!!
This was the best season so far and that’s saying something. You kept me on the edge of my seat until the very end. I’m going to miss my weekly does of Ben. Thank you all for the amazing work you put in to make us happy it’s more than greatly appreciated.
Dont agree but a good season non the less
Don’t agree. By far the weakest season. Just a lot of driving in a straight line. Very little strategy. Very little interaction between teams.
Don't agree. I think the mechanics were a little off and roadblocks became a little OP. It became pretty obvious who would win as soon as Sam's team coasted past the cheese challenge.
But from a general content perspective, Adam and Ben delivered the most laughs this season. In a way, I wish Sam would try a little harder to make it entertaining rather than being hyper competitive. But that's his personality and it's part of the fun for him to play the "villain".
@@TheCollateraldamage1 i agree, but i feel like being the CEO would kind of put a damper on me too, thinking about all the production side of things and logistics rather than his partners who can just enjoy the view and the game!
also, i disagree with the guys above, i think this was a strong season! driving is just a different vibe than public transport, and it all being in one country also makes for less variation in episodes. but i enjoyed it thoroughly, can’t wait for next season!
Seeing Toby run to the rock while whispering the order was delightful
Toby remembering the Elephant Rocks is like Plankton playing the harmonica.
So excited about the new season with Scottie from Strange Parts! Can’t wait!
Same! I truly wasn’t expecting to see him in a Jet Lag video
I’ve been rooting for Sam and Toby this entire time and yet I still feel so sorry for Ben and Adam.
Mood, me too
Long time watcher first time commenter. I'm a 40 yr old English man and I have just been absolutely sucked in by your guy's charm, charisma and ideas. I'm a boardgame fan and lockdown DnD convert which means your format just sings to my soul. I've championed you across my friendship group and wish you every success. I enjoy watching your subscriber numbers tick up steadily (long may this continue) and have purchased a Nebula subscription on the back of your vids. Your collab with Real Life Lore has opened up hours of additional excellent content to me and I wish you and your friends every success. Keep up the good work!
P.S. Also has Ben never considered that after he (inevitably) gets drunk on a challenge that there's nothing to stop him necking 2 litres of water to sober up???!!?!???
Yeah. But then we don’t see drunk Ben. Him drunk is funny.
I may be wrong but I don't think drinking large amounts of water actually sobers you up (although it is important to drink water or electrolyte drinks while drinking a lot of alcohol to avoid the dehydration and hangover symptoms). I think the liver just has to metabolize the alcohol to remove it from the bloodstream so you really just have to wait.
@@TheCyanSqueegeeyeah but there are definitely ways to make you “less drunk” quicker (eg, having a cold shower or coffee, etc) and drinking water and electrolytes would definitely make the comedown better
What a season! Toby was a great addition and I love the format and challenges in this one. I'll miss this show in the coming weeks!
52:19, I literally SCREAM!!!! I watched all Jet Lag Seasons in Japan and I can't wait for Season 6.
Toby at 32:10 proves why she is such the GOAT!!!! Patient & maximizing the scenery while still being competitive. Amazing
I love how the bleep at 26:05 did nothing but accentuate the swearing. :D
Congrats on ending the season, can't wait for Jet Lag Japan now :D
Yeah ... Mother*bleep*fucker ... xD
SPOILERS
@@JustLewKas The bleep or the Japan thing?
Cause the first is immaterial, the second is what I suspect most people did - pausing the wee promo clip to see the name of the train station they're at. XD
adams musical number was simply amazing. those low notes 👌
6:19 as a Brit (we have Weetabix, basically the same thing).... watching them eat it totally dry like a biscuit make my mouth DRY
This was awesome, I enjoyed this being held in my home country of New Zealand especially. Both teams did well and this was a really enjoyable watch
Having them in the home country of also of jet lagged fans was great the part I found fun was seeing places I knew in the background
The Snack Zone must be included in all future seasons of Jet Lagged.
I finally realize why I prefer ben and Adam, and its because they have fun, and the challenges are kinda secondary, but they stay competitive
Mee too. I love how they lag behind but keep it competitive
I'd say Adam is as competitive as Sam is. Sam's just better at "playing the villain" and shows his competitiveness more, so it's easier to root for Ben and Adam as the "underdogs" (even though they've been evenly matched across seasons)
sam is the target of a smear campaign by jet lag viewers and I will not stand for it. I stand with samuel denby
They remind me of old time explorers. Trying to win, but taking in the experience at the same time
This show is a gift to humanity. Incredible season, y’all!
So delighted for Sam to pull a victory, especially after playing so well. And to keep it so tense right up to end was a really great watch.
Just gonna second what I've seen in the comments a lot, that I loved Toby on this season and I'd love to see her back for more!
