@@MMAisTHEbestSPORT08there’s mma sparring gloves which are 6-8 ounce I believe. You don’t wanna be sparring with fight day gloves unless it’s controlled drills
@jordanberry2358 That's what I meant. That's what I usually do, tap punching with 4oz MMA gloves. I do use the 8oz sometimes but I feel like I learn better with 4oz as it just flows better woth the way I train.

8oz can make everything except sparring even if you’r heavy, you have to train your knuckle too not beeing overprotect, then when time come to fight with 10/8oz gloves you’r not gonna be able to hit correctly !
Yeah absolutely 👍 helps you feel the bag better so you get better technique. Make sure you wrap your wrists good though so you don’t roll your wrist by mistake on a sloppy punch (it happens to the best of us). I personally use 10’s on the bag, 12’s for bag/padwork/light sparring, and 14-16’s for hard sparring. I’m 150lbs walk-around weight
Story time: Half an year ago i wanted to start boxing so I dug and found my brothers old gloves he used about year or so ago. We didn't have a bag at the time so I started taking the gloves and punching the wall with them. I wondered why my knuckle hurt so bad even with the gloves, so bad in fact time or two it started screaching like a goddamn door hinge that sounded like rubber rubbing itself when closing and opening fist Fast forward and I finally bought a heavy 130cm 40kg bag. I was terrible at hitting it at first, becouse I was used to flat wall as a target, so my hooks were bad and jabs weak. Just around that time just before the bag i looked at my gloves and realised they are 8oz ;-; This did allow me to hit the bag with bare knuckles easier becouse they were conditioned from the beginning, but didin't matter at the time becouse my punches were sloppy and weak. Fast forward one two months later (present moment) and still have the same equipment. Have lost some wheight and gotten my punches to certain ko type of level. I'm broke so I have no money for boxing club or any of that sort of training that has fees so I have sticked to daily home training with my resources. My gloves i should upgrade most likely. I haven't upgraded my gloves at all. I'm 14y years old 67kg 167cm male. What would be the best oz for me.
That’s soft bro. Unless you’re 200lbs… 12-14’s for lite sparring is chill. Hard sparing ehhh depends on you and your partners “agreement” but 14-16oz for hard sparring has Ben fine for my brain 🧠 (I think 😵💫).
Could you try to put a little more commitment into those straights, you use a small amount of hip drive and basicaly no scapula its all just elbow dude sry if i sound like an arse
my boxing got better when using smaller gloves because i had more endurance to perform technique with higher volume because I fatigued less. The big gloves are good when I want to condition or spar (to keep my partner safer) . But there’s no right and wrong . This is just what works for me
I'm 200 pounds and use 14 for sparring, never had anyone complain lol. Then again I don't spar real hard in Muay Thai and I wrap my hands with a lot of knuckle padding so there's that. I usually use 16 on the bag cus that's where I'm really hitting with power
If you’re looking to train ground game and other martial art aspects I’d suggest 7 oz mma gloves. If you want boxing gloves I’d recommend starting at 10 or 12 oz
Gloves don’t protect your hands bro 😅. When you think your hand is being protected people tend to hit harder and break them. Truth is gloves are a weapon due to the weight and help with stopping someone not protecting someone’s hands. There are less hand breaks in bare knuckle than in normal boxing.
@@victorkihungi4388 what are you talking about you clown. First of all there are way less bare knuckle fights, and secondly, I was saying if you hit the heavy back with 10oz gloves you will be injured after 1 session. You obviously don’t box.
