We don't have a gimbal suitable for the 785 unfortunately. We ahve now moved on from this camera to the HC VX F1. ua-cam.com/video/qr2GxNXAoyI/v-deo.html&ab_channel=WesternAustraliaNowandThen
Interesting question. I have never wanted to have a time stamp on my videos so never tried to turn it on until I saw your question. Foe whatever reason it seems as though it isn't possible on this camera. It just shows up on screen but does not overlay on the recorded footage. Sorry I can't be of any help.
While recording through panasonic HC V 785.. it creats video for 30 min each instead of full video.. i e i have recorded video of 2 hrs. Then it creats 4 videos of 30 min each...kindly guide
Yes, that seems to be the case with many cameras. It may be due to some upper limit to file sizes in the operating system but at least with a dedicated video camera, it does go on recording. When we have tried making long video clips using Nikon DSLR cameras, they just stop after 20 minutes.
I think the IRIS function is supposed to do something similar but as far as I can tell, there is no actual ISO setting even in manual mode. It's a bit strange not having one but I guess similar results can be achieved by using the IRIS function.
@@WesternAustraliaNowAndThen It is on the bottom end of the Prosumer I think you would probably have to get something a little bit. More advanced but it's a lot better than the Sony 405 I had. I still get a tiny bit of Grain in my videos indoors but I think any camera would do that.
We used a Rode Video Micro with this camera but we have since upgraded and are now using Rode Wireless Go II. We are getting much better results with the wireless setup. The HC 785 is a bit out of date now. From memory I think this cam would film up to 60 fps. I did once read something about post processing making a rate of 240 fps possible but I never followed that up.
It does have excellent picture quality tho & on a tripod I suspect I at least would be quite happy with it. We're actually looking at better equipment now as I'm not thrilled with my go pro. Great review!!
Yes it was worth the upgrade for the picture quality alone. When seen next to our GoPro footage it really does shine but it has to be mounted on a tripod as the lack of stability compared to a GoPro on a gimbal is very noticeable. I also run a channel called 'Lets Eat Malaysian' where I constantly use the Panasonic and GoPro side by side and I don't have to do much (or anything) in post with the Panasonic but I do need to tweak settings for the GoPro footage. Even though it isn't a 4k camera, the Panasonic is easily the best video camera I have owned so far.
@@WesternAustraliaNowAndThen, sir can you please tell me, how to pause vedio for non stop single recording. When i pause vedio and press to unlock pause button the new vedio start itself.
@@kapil308 An interesting question and one I hadn't considered before. I haven't found a way to stop the camera from splitting the files every time you press RECORD/PAUSE. In theory it should continue recording to the same file. I will do some testing and see if I can find a definitive answer.

@@muolhoicablenetwork Not really certain about that, probably best to follow it up with Panasonic or a retailer of their gear. I would think it should work on both since they are so similar but I am not 100% sure.
The one on this video is a G5 - FeiyuTech which I have to be honest, isn't as steady as our old gimbal a Zhiyun Z1-Rider 2. The G5 tends to flick sideways occasionaly.
Western Australia Now and Then fantastic I always wanted a gimbal for my cam . I still love my cam and I have the same model. Thank you for the information ℹ️ a great 👍🏼 vlog. 🙏 New friend to support you from Melbourne, you seem to have some great content, so I look forward to discovering more.
@@CowboyJojosAdventures Just to clarify, the gimbals are used with our GoPro cameras, not the Panasonic. This video was to test the internal stabilisation of the Panasonic against a GoPro on a gimbal.
How is the autofocus on the Panasonic? I have an old one, it has interchangeable batteries. I was wondering about that style of video camera, none of the other UA-camrs I follow uses one. Some use the Panasonic GH line, the Canon PowerShot G7 Mark II is quite popular but might be on its way out. The Canon EOS 200D has been king of the castle for a while, it's light, has tremendous AF in video, EF-S lenses are light, STM lenses are quiet. Now there's Canon's EOS M50, its brand new mirrorless cameras which seems built for vloggers. Light, well stabilised, even better AF. EF-M lenses focus quickly, I think they're all STM and stabilised. Nobody uses a Nikon for your kind of videos, some Nikon users use Canon for video.
The auto focus seems to be quite good. I have only had it less than a week but so far I am happy with the results. It can't really compete with a gimbal for stability but the focusing is so much better than the Nikon DSLRs. A lot of UA-camrs are doing 'talking head' videos so they can get away with using DSLRs and manual focus but most of what I do is outside shooting so smooth focal changes are a real must. I have never used one of the higher end mirrorless cameras but they are supposed to produce good results. We used to use a hand held cam-corder all the time but gradually moved away to DSLRs but the Nikon lenses are just too slow and too noisy for any tracking shots and zooming of any kind is impossible. I note that people like Anderw St. Pierre White still make good use of dedicated video cameras and his results are stunning. I don't have his budget but hopefully this camera will improve my results although I will still have to rely on the GoPors and a gimbal to get any walking shots. This one will need to be more restricted to tri-pod and slow hand held pans I think.
Western Australia Now and Then Dave Morrow does talking head with a GoPro while walking, Gordon Laing demonstrated talking head while walking with the Canon EOS M50 - you should check that out, Thesnapchick vlogs with a Canon EOS 200D, Casey Neistat was using Canon 70D, I presume he's using an 80D now, you should see him on his boosterboard amongst the cars, Peter McKinnon uses a Canon EOS 1Dx Mark II and a 6D Mark II, Adam at First Man Photography does it with a Canon EOS 800D, Thomas Heaton was using a 200D until he broke it, not sure whether he got another or went with an M50.
I have had this camera since February and I find the autofocus to be excellent, very fast. I use it to film live music performances that I then upload on to my Facebook page Band It About. The older footage on that page was filmed using my old iPhone 6S, there are also some clips filmed on there using my new iPhone X, which takes excellent videos with great sound. The inbuilt mic on the Panasonic picks up well, sounds great, only problem I find is that it picks up people talking so I have to choose where I film from carefully to reduce that noise. I haven't tried the multi feature using my phone, but think the remote feature will come in handy if I leave the camera on my tripod to film if I need to change the angle or want to zoom in on something. I am trying to locate videos showing how to use the features, not many for this model yet, although there are a few for the V700 which is very similar to this model.
You are certainly right about the lack of videos on this camera. As far as I can tell they have been out for over a year now so either they are very unpopular or are in a rather limited market. My first impressions are pretty good but we haven't been using it all that long and I will probably do a better review on it once we have used it out in the field for a few different trips. The mic on the camera is nice and crisp but like most built in mics, it can't cope with any sort of wind. The stabilisation is nice and will help when I have to do hand held shots but for moving around a lot I think I will still have to rely on the gimbal and GoPro combo.
We seem to have picked the wrong DSLRs for trying to do both stills and video. The Nikons really suck at video but we are stuck with them as we have invested too much money on them now to change to Cannon.
Can you compare results if using Gimbal on the V785? Also I see the image quality on the Panasonic is better.

The image quality is better on the GoPro, the colours on the Panasonic aren't natural & it's darker
