It takes many factors into consideration and involves all events from Marian Reforms, to the Black Death, arrival of the Mongols, Attila's Climate, Rome 2's Civil War, and many more.

Just a simple list of some of the more enjoyable events in Total War. : )
Oddly, Medieval 2 is not my favourite, yet, I think they had some of the best invents in the series.

Best event is medical 2 if you try and jill the pope, the event I got was my assassin taking pot shots at him while he was giving a sermon

Yeah...somehow annoying, at least random moving on the map in the game it's talking about.

The first time the Timurids came I shat bricks. It was the first campaign I actually wanted to finish, so the first one ever to go on for that long as I usually lost interest after getting most of europe. After many, many battles against the mongol empire I had them down to 2 cities, with basically all their armies destroyed and the fully experienced doomstacks long gone. My battered armies were about to kill the last mongols, and then the Timurid event hit. Over a dozen full banner armies with near maximum experience and legendary + feared generals spawned uncomfortably near the last mongol settlements and 2 turns later they declared war on me, my armies had to run for their lives. Hiding in a fortress worked perfectly to kill hordes of mongols as they had almost no effective way to breach walls, these new bastards however had cannons strapped to freaking elephants to make quick work of any walls. They conquered most of the middle east with their starting doomstacks because I was woefully underprepared for that kind of attack and the settlement walls were not all that useful. Still one of the most interesting big wars I have ever fought in a total war game even when I finally began to overwhelm them with troops produced in basically every city on the map that I mindlessly threw at them. Timurids are definitely my top event in total war.

I remember taking over the old world in medieval 2 and spending like 100 turns doing next to nothing waiting to be able to go to America. Then the plague hit. I put all my generals on boats to wait out the plague while my useless crazy king toured the empire killing rebels but never actually catching it (he then lead the invasion of America, maybe that’s why they thought he was crazy) and the empire just utterly stalled. I had to stop building because the money was gone without trade and 100000 of my population died. At the end of the campaign you could see where the plague had hit in every category but territory. Was awesome to watch just how devastating it was
It would be cool if the Sea Peoples arrive at somepoint in Troy Total War
If you didn’t know, the Bronze Age mod allows you to play as them.
Ooh. The late bronze collapse would be an interesting mechanic to work in.

You showed me many things that I didn't know before:
- Pike and musket formations, diplomacy when choosing the pope, blocking the Gibraltar in Medieval Total war 2
- How to stop revolts in Rome 1
- Alternate attack order with ranged units in every total war
I have been playing these games for 5 years and I didn't know that
No one surpasses LegendofTotalWar's tactical ability/knowledge, however.

The introduction of gunpowder in the original Shogun Total War I found extremely convenient.
Bridge battles, which are tiresome meatgrinders that chew up your best troops, now become more of slaughtering the enemy by firing your arquebuses over and over again. Compared to archers, arquebusiers have almost infinite ammo and do not tire much.

I always find the things people say about the Black Death curious. It was a major watershed event of the late Middle Ages, so obviously it has to be included, but I've never found it to be anything more than a minor inconvenience in the game. My economy stays in the black, and I've hardly ever lost a general to it. When people complain about it being a major problem and source of late game difficulty, I always kinda wonder how they play the game. In my opinion the path finding in Medieval II is much more of a threat than the Great Mortality could ever be.
Timothy Ernst Never was it a problem to me either. And to be honest it is kind of disaapointing that it does not affect the game more significantly.

The sheer number of events in Med2 compared to the other titles has always been very nice, although some of them are just little history boxes (although that's nice in it's own way. I'm a sucker for things like that in EB)

26CLT Oh yeah I heard about that. And I agree with you on the history stuff. Whenever a message scroll pops up that isn’t about construction or recruitment, and it’s telling me about this new technology of mill power and eye glasses.. just fun events in game. Med2 will live forever :D
@@Zach-mw5so Although it's a shame there were no effects or unlocks, I always found them very nice to see. A lot of historically set games just don't bother with things like that, including a lot of later Total War titles. Oh EB was a stickler for that stuff: every 4 turns (1 in game year) you got a list of known major events in that year in history, and building and unit descriptions included substantial historical details (sometimes quoting primary sources even)

I wish chaos was more like the mongols. Multiple end game armies that come whether you're ready or not and are a good test of might against you even if you are dominating in the map.
Im the only one that liked the Black Death in Medieval 2, only because it somewhats fix the public order and kinda rewards a player that goes Tall?
😊my favorite is medieval 1... clocks are invented... building and trade doubles, because people rush to work knowing the correct time of day
Before Black Death hit just move out all yours generals,units and agents into forts and leave small garrison in every settlement.
Next wait until disease past away and later go against enemies with full armies.

My favorite event in the whole series is the Discovery of the Aztecs in Medieval 2 . I love recreating the conquest of Mexico in that game playing as the Spanish.
Have you played med2tw Americas campaign? Guess you knew about it already but its way more better for conquest scenario

Climate changes happens again in the last roman dlc. This time for the better but yeah after a while is frustrating in Attila.
I like the Climate change in Attila when im playing as the Geats. They got winter attrition immunity, Like as winter spreads south and Empires struggle i sweep in raid and conqure while their armies are stuck in towns or even superiour armies are forced too chase me down loosing men as they march before i turn around with a Fresh army ready for a fight.
Plus Mongols rearly even get to me and when they do they often got a ton of Merchs and are a breeze to deal with. I mostly play as HRE and the only fight i often have is whos the strongest faction.
Noticed while playing as the Suebi that you can get the same ability for your army with the military traditions
@@nicustanciu9750 I think you can with most Germanic factions. Seen it as Jutes,Longbards and Saxons.
But its a faction trait of the Geats which makes them in my opinion one of the best factions in the game.

I would love a mod that reworks medieval 2 so it has better camera controls and wasd on the camping map do you guys know if there are any ?
Am I the only guy in M2 that doesnt crusade? 90% of my English games are start, get asked to crusade, set off, all my men leave before I even make it to Spain, turn round and invade France again
As England, there's not much point. I usually don't, but I do if I am a Mediterean Powers as I get there faster.

Son of Fantasy im not Melkor but here’s my advice.
Delete half of all your armies then make all your settlements collect very high tax. You are limited to 5 knights in total.
