My ONE word sign is a framed poster that I had specially printed. It reads, 'I love you more.' These were the last words my mom spoke to me before she passed away (her standard response every time I told her, ' I love you'). Every time I look at it, I hear her voice in my head, and it brings me comfort.
I have a 70s trivet hanging over my kitchen sink it says "the hurrier i go the behinder i get" it always was in my grandma's kitchen, when it came into my ownership its wanted to stay there.
My one word sign is a small glass plaque given to me by my friends on my retirement. It says, "You know all those things you wanted to do? You should go do them." I have it put up on a little strip of wall in the kitchen, next to the cupboards. I do like seeing it, and I do need reminding, at this stage of my life, that life *is* for doing those things -- at least some of them.
My 8 year old granddaughter to her friend, “Do you know what that is?” Friend, “No. . . “ “It’s a REAL camel saddle. Great grandma got it when she was in Turkey! Here, I’ll show you!” She goes into the library, picks out the EXACT book depicting how the saddle is used on a real camel. I just stood there with my mouth open. . . bless her heart, she LISTENED!
I have a tin- sign, that says: Calm down, we re all crazy...it s not a competition. And some beautyful sunflowers around it....I love it, because it s true!!!
I live in a 1970’s townhouse on the water. I absolutely abhor the overdone, tacky “seaside” decor. I have original midcentury modern furniture from my mother and mix it in with other contemporary furniture. My mom’s furniture is very sentimental to me and I love that my house decor is unexpected.
I have a two story houseboat, 2 bedrooms 2 bathroom, more of a floating house. And it is furnished with old family stuff, stuff I got when I lived and traveled in Europe and a touch of Ikea where it is needed. And yes no seaside decor. Years ago I stayed in an antique houseboat on the Seine and it was filled with antiques.
I keep my cat’s water and food dishes on a corner kitchen counter (hated constantly kicking them on the floor) and made my own sign that reads “Simon’s Corner.” 😄
My word sign is „Do not throw anything out of the window“. I stole it in the 90s from an express train and fixed it under one of the windows in my first apartment. I grew up in a rural area and everybody from home was quite shocked when they came to visit me in the big city. They thought it was an official sign of the housing management - quite a rough neighborhood! :D It‘s now part of my gallery wall and I still love it.
Thanks for your advice and much-needed humour today, Garrett! My husband is really bringing down my mood, swearing in the bathroom because he is repainting it. I made the bad mistake of thinking I wanted a pink bathroom like I had twenty-five years ago. Turns out I don't like that anymore. Now he has to paint over it with Benjamin Moore Decorator's White. Pray for me. He's livid. LOL!🤣 ❤you, Garrett!
@@GarrettLeChic Not 'my' project- his! I just pick the wrong colours, and he paints! He painted 3 different pink colours in the last six weeks. He had to convince me that I don't like pink bathrooms anymore. I told him on Saturday that I could wait until Christmas for him to repaint. Then told him Saturday night I could only look at the hideous colour until May, then Sunday morning I told him I couldn't take it any longer (looked like pepto bismol). Luckily, he likes the Decorator's White that I picked this time. He'll like it even more if I don't change my mind again! But "I'm sorry, Baby" isn't working as good as it used to...😟😄 Have a wonderful week, Garrett!
My ONE sign is in the laundry room. It’s a pretty piece of framed art & in calligraphy I wrote the lyrics on the glass “Ain’t nobody dope as me I’m just so fresh & clean… so fresh & so clean, clean… 🫧🤗 that’s all though, don’t come for my neck, Garrett 😂💙
I was laughing out loud with your dorm room comments- so on point! I will now start using this expression. I'm an antique lover and have several pieces of decor from my grandmother and mother that were handed down to me that I love (including a Wedgewood small vase) and they are still around because quality lasts. They were meant to be passed down to the next generation unlike the IKEA/Crate and Barrel/Wayfair/etc. items destined for the landfill. I despise cheap and tacky decor and agree with everything you said. Thank you Garrett for another great video! 🦩🌴☀️☺️😊❤️🥰❤️🥰☺️😊
So true! I've got some vintage items from my grandparents (sadly all passed away now) and they're some of my most treasured decor. I have the mantel clock my grandparents bought when they moved into their first house, and now it's in my first home. It has pride of place on my mantelpiece and reminds me of them every day. I also have my grandmother's china set on display. You're right about the quality. I'm gradually replacing most of my decor with vintage and antique pieces (plus a few items I've made myself). The difference in materials and workmanship is shocking - even pricey modern items look cheap next to older ones. Plus, you can often get much better vintage or antique items for the same price or less.
My word sign was in my kitchen, and really cliche, but I loved it for a reason. It was a Live Love Laugh sign. The reason I love it so much is because when I moved into this house, I had just gotten out of a really toxic 18 year marriage. My family of origin is toxic too. So, since I had never really lived, loved or laughed my entire life, that sign has a major meaning for me. New house, new life. But after I had my kitchen remodeled, I didn't put it back up because everybody hates signs. I still have it, in case I change my mind.
I think if you have a personal story that goes with your sign (like yours) that changes everything and makes it 100% not tacky at all. I'm glad you are in a safe and happy place in your life now, so you should hang that sign up proudly! P.S. I can relate to what you went through completely. So, go put that sign back up.😉❤
Clap, clap, clap and a standing ovation for you Gareth for including the sad boring beige everything decor as tacky!!! 👏👏👏I was in one such home recently and I could literally feel the life spirit being drained out of me... (ok that's an exaggeration, but you know what I mean.) "Being boring is offensive to me" is a straight jab to the face.. 😂😂 💗
Word Signs are sometimes very worth it. -My teen was depressed, so I got him a sign for his bathroom that he sees every day that reminds him he is enough as he is, he is not alone, and he is always loved. It worked wonders to help him with his depression. Also, when I had little kids, the "dorm" and "kids" printed covers made sense because they are easy to wash (and I had less cash as a young mom), and little kids are impossibly hard on stuff. I am purging all of that now though.
Victoria I think that is a great thing that you did, but those aren’t the types of word signs I was referring to in the video or at other times that I’ve discussed word signs.
Thanks so much! Welcome to the channel. It’s great to have you as a part of our very valued subscriber family. I post videos on Thursdays at 1pm and Sundays at 10am Pacific Time. 😊😊😊
My spouse and I went through a rough patch. We weren't having problems with each other, but we were both having so many issues that we had no time for each other anymore. On impulse I bought a sign that said "Work with me, people." One day I was embarrassed to have it, so I flipped it over. We both flipped it back over periodically when we needed the other's help with something, and I think that that sign was all we said to each other for about six months. (added in editing) I did get rid of that sign the moment the rough patch was over for both of us.
From Alsace France with its very noticeable ceramic style I bought the little ceramic plaques that say WC and a tiny welcome one outside the front door. Pops of color and a bit of style. And I can talk about living in Germany and going over to Alsace that was 15 minutes away. And as my cousin said when we were driving there and I pointed out the church and said, that is France, “We cannot even get out of Brooklyn that fast!”. Good times!
I have two, but one is in my bathroom with a plague doctor picture that says "Wash your Hands," and the other in the kitchen is a black and white one that says "Live Laugh Lobotomy."
Anyone Florida residents who have a half bathroom completely “ Floridaded” including beach themed wallpaper trim around the ceiling, towels, soap dispenser…..the works. No words included 😂. I do have a sign with my beach town’s name with the Longitude & Latitude coordinates on it, near the entry. It’s a matter of pride.
I own one word sign “ Agenda for the day: Let dog in, let dog out, let dog in, let dog out. On a shelf right by my back door where I let my dogs in and out. You get it, it is highly accurate. some days … yes that’s the bulk of my day. Wouldn’t trade it for the world
I laughed so much with this video. Your expressions. 🤣😂 You would be horrified by my house. I hang a wooden sign over my hallway that says, "Home is where the story begins." I love it and had it hanging the whole time my four kids were growing up. I wish you would do a video on picking out timeless bathroom tiles that don't look cheap or tacky. 😀
I would not be horrified. I have seen allot in the last 10 years or so plus getting my degree in interior design. I don’t judge. I’m here to help with my videos and consultation service.
I do a lot of nature paintings. I’ve used several for my walls, and have kept my color and decor scheme nature based. For the most part. Still have odds and ends that aren’t, but am trying to transition those out.
This is not the Market! This is the Pantry! 😂 My ONE word sign is •ski lift• ➡️ with the arrow underneath pointing out the door. Its in my garage and above my snowboards! Motivation to go! 🏂
Albert passed away last year. I did a tribute video to him last November. Linus and Cornealius are doing great. We plan on having them visit in upcoming videos soon.
I have a counted crossstitch of different hearts in impressions of the seasons …it says “to everything there is a season” .. I have it in my powder room. I can’t bring myself to throw it out, it was too much work!
Where does one start shopping for a not sad gray couch? I had that problem when we bought our current one, and were in the market again. It needs to go in the room where my kids don't have to be nice to my antiques, but still want that antique vibe with out that antique care.
I have a bunch of kids so i have a sign that says "support wildlife, raise kids" 😂im alaskan so i take actual wildlife very seriously but i need the funny in winter
I got quite a lot of things from ebay. Especially the things that is functional and decorative, a rattanframe mirror from the 50s, a pair of brass oil lampets etc...
Yes. I agree so much! Robbing a house of everything, that is typical and original, and make it look like every other influencer s showroom, is just ignorant, senseless and in total disregard of the soul of the house!!! No-one can be happy there....just wait......😮
My coworker lives in a Victorian home and she turned an old “donuts” sign from an orchard she used to work at into a coat holder just by adding some hooks. It’s a super quirky idea and so her family. I love it
A very good morning Garrett, Thank you for the cheeky sarcastic vlog, liked it and loved your energy. Honestly before I met you, I did like word things but luckily that was before buying this house, and I was easily convinced why you were against it, so I don’t have any word thingy in this house, neither I had earlier🙃 Good point about the tacky furniture, which goes easily unnoticed when it comes to this metals and the joints. Lol the dorm rugs and furniture, I totally buy it. Autumn has set in here, loving it and this week is the last week of school holidays here. You have a wonderful peaceful day and thankyou for always sharing your cheeky infectious self🥰🤗 See you soon..xx
Our word sign says, "We may not have it all together, but together we have it all." For people with mental illness and physical issues, it reminds us that we aren't alone and the rest of our family will be there to support us.
Hello 👋 I don’t have any signs in my home and I’m not against it but I have seen an over kill of quotes being used in one home where it was in every room and hallway I just kept saying to myself “there must of been a sale on signage that day” great video 😊
I have 2 word signs. But they mean a lot. One was a gift from my daughter that says “ Nana & Papa’s House” “Where cousins become best friends” . I’ve watched them since they were babies so that is so so true . My sister gave me another sign that says “My favorite people call me Nana”. I place that one in front of their pictures I display. Those are 2 sayings that “Love” for me. ❤️ I don’t normally like word signs as a general rule. Great video, you always help me!
@@GarrettLeChic Yay, I was able to move the Nana sign to a shelf in my guest room where my granddaughters play and sleep when they are here ❤️ Now I’m down to one because I had three others that were housewarming gifts and I finally donated the last one. ☺️
I’m glad to give my opinions on flooring for your specific space if I can see it and have a discussion with you. Please feel free to book a virtual consultation with me at intro.co/garrettlechic 😊😊😊
OK Garrett, “Dinner is ready when the smoke alarm goes off” or “All you need is love and a Bulldog”. One is black & white and the other is quite colorful. ❤
Hi Garrett, We need more people like you to speak the truth and have realistic approach.. And not follow the trends.. It’s crazy to see how people copy and paste everything that they see.. I know lots of people who just do that 😊
Thanks so much for the lovely comment! Great design isn’t cut and paste. I get that people are busy, but unfortunately there are no short cuts and it’s not all about design commentary or opinions on styles. The biggest part of interior design is the science behind it that you learn in school and/or experience working in the field with educated designers and decorators. I try to share what I’ve learned to help people. We all have likes and dislikes concerning styles. Who cares. It’s what you like that matters, and not what someone else likes or tells you to like.
I absolutely loved ur gentle dissing and from where i come from, patterns is a norm and white bedsheets are considered hospital like 😂. I do prefer low contrast, n opt for tonal and calming blue, green and other earthy shades. Honestly i will still keep ur inputs in mind next time i shop. Thank u for what u do
“There’s always Time To sit on the Porch” My only sign is tin on the front porch with matching gliders You are so spot on Garrett 💥 Hilarious 😂 👏🏼 Thank You 😘
I have one small framed "word art" - It is in our finished basement bathroom... aka man cave. "Please remain seated for the entire performance" Is that passive aggressive?
What does our house say on the outside? It says: "Old and simple and if you fix the roof, plumbing, windows and kitchen you could enjoy your stay. Find the cash and do it, please!" I will try. Before we can start on the inside we have to address the outside. Seriously considering filling in the pool so we have a bigger garden and less maintenance because of a pool.
I have one word sign that i keep inside my corner cabinet (i find words distracting) it says make today so awesome that yesterday gets jealous. Well, this video lets me tick that box. Thanks for being willing to say the truth as comically as possible. Youre the best.
Your awesome ! I’m literally over my sign art I’m getting them down asap . I use to have all country prim and now I feel it’s cringe lol I have a neutral vibe with wood whites blacks and browns and it calms my soul 🤎
Our one word sign is … “My SUPER POWERS include Drinking Wine & JUDGING OTHERS “…. of course kept near the wine collection ! ! Another inspired video Garrett ! If a room is all beige, it’s just as bad as all grey and I personally don’t like all white either !! I suppose for me colour drenching is probably too much as well! I do like cohesiveness and flow but some vibrancy as well! For me I’ve got greige walls … so I’m adding caramels and soft browns and teals and greens. Love to Cornelius xx I have so enjoyed reading the “ Le chic family” comments for this one …. Some great signs out there !!!😂
Our hairdresser has signs. It's her vibe. No criticism from me. Best hairdresser I've ever had. Not my thing at all. However, I do respect her decorating her home, her way. I decorate my home with family antiques and Traditional Georgian New England style. I live in Connecticut. Love your channel, Garrett. Learn a lot from you. Thanks!
If it makes her happy that’s great. I give my design opinions and I of course respect what people ultimately do that makes them happy whether it’s my aesthetic or not. Thanks for subscribing and watching. I’m glad you are enjoying and appreciate your support.
Glass decor. Also check for lines left behind from the mold. How well does it catch & diffuse light? With Colored glass, you cannot buy new, even decent quality, affordable colored glass. Colored glass is now a coating on the clear glass, versus being part of the glass like it was in the past. The colorful coating doesn’t catch light the same way. I can spot it instantly even if it doesn’t have parts of the color scratched off yet (it will, it’s never a matter of if with modern inexpensive colored glass). Even for just decent quality colored glass, meaning the color doesn’t come off, it is going to be expensive. All those minerals that give glass its color are sought for more than just decorative purposes these days, so cost more.
I’d be glad to do a virtual consultation with you so I can see the home and than discuss my opinions with you. Bookings can be made at intro.co/garrettlechic
I have a doormat by my front door that says "Come Back With A Warrant," and a very small ceramic sign in my kitchen that says "Beware of the Cat" in Italian.
I don’t hate anyone’s home. I give my opinions but accept tastes and styles that are different than mine. That’s what formally trained interior are supposed to be like.

This is not the Market! This is the Pantry! 😂
My ONE word sign is •ski lift• ➡️ with the arrow underneath pointing out the door. Its in my garage and above my snowboards! Motivation to go! 🏂
Great video, thank you. Where are your dogs? We learned about Albert, dear dear boy. And the bulldog, and the French bulldog? Thanks for news❤
Linus, I think
Albert passed away last year. I did a tribute video to him last November. Linus and Cornealius are doing great. We plan on having them visit in upcoming videos soon.
Great video Garrett,!
Glad you enjoyed it
Garrett, thank you for keeping it REAL. And you are hilarious btw! 🤩
Thanks so much! Glad you enjoyed.
Love you and your channel!!!
Thank you so much!! I truly appreciate you supporting the channel by subscribing and watching.
I have Andy Warhol’s “Dorothy Killgallens Gateau of Marzipan” in my kitchen, but otherwise live, love, I’m laughing!
I have a counted crossstitch of different hearts in impressions of the seasons …it says “to everything there is a season” .. I have it in my powder room. I can’t bring myself to throw it out, it was too much work!
Preach!!!! Amen, Garrett!
👍👍👍🙏🙏🙏
Exactly!!
Thank you for sharing your helpful design insights, @Garrett LeChic!
🙏🌿💐🌿😊💚😘🌿💐🌿🙏
You are so welcome!
My coworker lives in a Victorian home and she turned an old “donuts” sign from an orchard she used to work at into a coat holder just by adding some hooks. It’s a super quirky idea and so her family. I love it
A very good morning Garrett,
Thank you for the cheeky sarcastic vlog, liked it and loved your energy.
Honestly before I met you, I did like word things but luckily that was before buying this house, and I was easily convinced why you were against it, so I don’t have any word thingy in this house, neither I had earlier🙃
Good point about the tacky furniture, which goes easily unnoticed when it comes to this metals and the joints.
Lol the dorm rugs and furniture, I totally buy it.
Autumn has set in here, loving it and this week is the last week of school holidays here.
You have a wonderful peaceful day and thankyou for always sharing your cheeky infectious self🥰🤗
See you soon..xx

I have a small sign on a kitchen shelf. ‘Remember, as far as anyone knows we are a normal family’.
Our word sign says, "We may not have it all together, but together we have it all." For people with mental illness and physical issues, it reminds us that we aren't alone and the rest of our family will be there to support us.
That's great 👍🏻😅
I used to like, “If mama ain’t happy, ain’t nobody happy”.
The "oh its ... Nice 😐"
OMG - a loaf of bread? Oatmeal! You make me laugh in every video! Much love!!!!
🤣🤣🤣
The words, sign thing just won’t die. I never liked it. Never understood it. But I figured it would fade away. It’s still hanging in there somehow.
Ok. My word sign is really raunchy & causes lots of laughter. I'll keep that one 😉
Another thing to look for on metal items is the welds. A quality welding job should be smooth and even all the parts, no splatters or sharp points.
Hello 👋 I don’t have any signs in my home and I’m not against it but I have seen an over kill of quotes being used in one home where it was in every room and hallway I just kept saying to myself “there must of been a sale on signage that day” great video 😊
😂😂😂
Yay! Glad you enjoyed the video.
Sounds nice! Glad you enjoyed.
@@GarrettLeChic Yay, I was able to move the Nana sign to a shelf in my guest room where my granddaughters play and sleep when they are here ❤️ Now I’m down to one because I had three others that were housewarming gifts and I finally donated the last one. ☺️
Hey Garrett, I have to start hunting down tile & flooring. How do I need to prepare for that? What should I look for in a vendor?
I’m glad to give my opinions on flooring for your specific space if I can see it and have a discussion with you. Please feel free to book a virtual consultation with me at intro.co/garrettlechic 😊😊😊
OK Garrett, “Dinner is ready when the smoke alarm goes off” or “All you need is love and a Bulldog”. One is black & white and the other is quite colorful. ❤
Love it!
“Keep Calm and Carry on” frame in front of the toilet 😂
You always tell the truth!! Period..
👍👍👍
I absolutely loved ur gentle dissing and from where i come from, patterns is a norm and white bedsheets are considered hospital like 😂. I do prefer low contrast, n opt for tonal and calming blue, green and other earthy shades. Honestly i will still keep ur inputs in mind next time i shop. Thank u for what u do
My pleasure! Thanks for supporting the channel by subscribing and watching. I appreciate it.
Finally there is someone brave enough to say the truth about this beigemania and mass produced wall "art" creators 👏👏👏
"Being boring is offensive to me" 😭😞😭😂😂😂I'm crying over here! 😂😂😂love it! I need you to put this on a t-shirt!
🤣🤣🤣
“There’s always Time
To sit on the Porch”
My only sign is tin on the front porch with matching gliders
You are so spot on Garrett 💥
Hilarious 😂 👏🏼 Thank You 😘
Thanks so much! I appreciate your supporting the channel by subscribing and watching.
😊😊
If you visit England I suggest the Wedgwood museum in Stoke-on-Trent as one of your stops.
I have one small framed "word art" - It is in our finished basement bathroom... aka man cave. "Please remain seated for the entire performance" Is that passive aggressive?
🤣🤣🤣
What does our house say on the outside? It says: "Old and simple and if you fix the roof, plumbing, windows and kitchen you could enjoy your stay. Find the cash and do it, please!" I will try. Before we can start on the inside we have to address the outside. Seriously considering filling in the pool so we have a bigger garden and less maintenance because of a pool.
"...choices" 😲 Garrett giving nothing but stone cold shade.
This is the channel I didn't know I needed.
Yay! Thanks for your support.
I have one word sign that i keep inside my corner cabinet (i find words distracting) it says make today so awesome that yesterday gets jealous. Well, this video lets me tick that box. Thanks for being willing to say the truth as comically as possible. Youre the best.
Glad you enjoyed! Thanks for supporting the channel by subscribing and watching my videos.
I totally agree with no signs! Everyone should know where the coffee spot is, no need for a laundry sign over the washer and dryer either. Great video
Thanks for sharing!!
You are a 💎 gem!
Very kind! Thanks so much.
Your awesome ! I’m literally over my sign art I’m getting them down asap . I use to have all country prim and now I feel it’s cringe lol I have a neutral vibe with wood whites blacks and browns and it calms my soul 🤎
👍👍👍
Our one word sign is … “My SUPER POWERS include Drinking Wine & JUDGING OTHERS “…. of course kept near the wine collection ! !
Another inspired video Garrett ! If a room is all beige, it’s just as bad as all grey and I personally don’t like all white either !! I suppose for me colour drenching is probably too much as well! I do like cohesiveness and flow but some vibrancy as well! For me I’ve got greige walls … so I’m adding caramels and soft browns and teals and greens. Love to Cornelius xx
I have so enjoyed reading the “ Le chic family” comments for this one …. Some great signs out there !!!😂
Signs are TACKY , period
Another fabulous video ❤️
Thanks so much! Glad you enjoyed.
Yesss! I love neutrals but color color color just a touch of it makes everything gorgeous because I am so much more than a loaf of bread! 😂 ❤
👍👍👍
What style is appropriate for a 1950s brick ranch?
I’d be glad to do a virtual consultation with you so I can see the home and than discuss my opinions with you. Bookings can be made at intro.co/garrettlechic
A loaf of bread, oatmeal?😂😂😂😂😂 you keep me laughing. Thank you for that.
Glad you enjoyed
I have a doormat by my front door that says "Come Back With A Warrant," and a very small ceramic sign in my kitchen that says "Beware of the Cat" in Italian.
Oh lord Garrett would absolutely hate my house! 😂😂😂
I don’t hate anyone’s home. I give my opinions but accept tastes and styles that are different than mine. That’s what formally trained interior are supposed to be like.
