Good info but Dave has not spoken about axle weight limits or the risks associated with GVM and GCM upgrades potentially voiding the manufacturers new car 28:00 drive train or suspension warranty.
Thanks for having a chat with us on Saturday, we went a checked out Dave and the Towing Master Class great information and it was simple to understand and all the legal requirements as well.
We are travelling full time and our next vehicle will be an Isuzu N Series Truck, 4.5t GVM and 8t GCM, can be driven on a normal drivers licence and one third the cost of a Land Cruiser, Ram, F250 etc. We have now run into several travellers in various parks and they all rate them highly. No more worries with weight limits etc.
Another great show, and nice to see something as essential as the weights broken down into easy to understand language. Wonder how many of us look at weights and go " nah she'll be right" and head off 🙄🙂
I like that you are responsible caravan owners. You have taught me a lot over the years and one of my main influencers in buying a caravan 2 years ago. I remember you selling up and your visit to the Brisbane caravan show. Time goes quickly. 🙂I always enjoy watching you. Safe travels x❤️
Hi guys , 7 degrees here feels like -2 but hey it’s tough in bris Vegas 🤔thanks for the info we had ours weighed in Coffs by similar team very surprised but got through by 100 kg but you hold your breath
Certainly some very good advice there. Getting the basics right is so important isn't it. We need to find someone like Dave over here in NZ. Cheers team. 🍻
Great Vid, thanks again for your taking the time and presenting the issue so well. Not sure Dave is 100% correct though that Lovells is the only group that does pre-reg GCM upgrade. JMACX/AEV also do, for some vehicles, AFAIK.
Hi guys plenty of good info for everyone no matter how experienced I have been to scales at Forest Glenn so many times I think they will send me a Christmas card!! I down loaded the Weighcheck acronyms sheet I noticed nothing about rear axle loading I believe this must also be complied with tow vehicle max.? About a week ago Gympie the Police we performing roadside checks no fines issued . Safe travels.
Hi Ian, thanks for this question - I reached out to Dave from WeightCheck and his reply may also help 😊 Yes, there are also axle loads to be taken into account and this is something we also put into our reports . However the authorities are mainly concerned about the basic 6 metrics Cheers 👍
Brilliant video guys, Dave very explicit and easy to understand. I was same as you guys, afraid to get weighed because i was over weight, but decided to get it weighed, and found I had about 80kg to play with overall, so was very relieved....
Another great episode guys, appreciated. We sorely miss Jasper, where is the little guy? Sorry we missed the Brisbane show, a tragedy for me living 10 km's away but unfortunately for us unable to make it.
Thank you Robert! Yes everyone is missing him on YT - he was making the most of the live mic at the Vanbassador Stage this last week 😅👍 hopefully back to normal travel viewing in the next couple of weeks…. 💙🙏
As an ex owner truck driver GVM & GCM upgrades should be illegal, if your vehicle is overweight you should buy a F250 F350, Dodge Ram etc. GVM and GCM upgrades are dangerous because your brakes are too small and won't be able to stop in an emergency.
Interesting! I think you can upgrade brakes in most 4x4 so maybe that’s a good option if it’s brakes that are the concern? Do you know the difference between F250 and a Landcruiser brakes or what brakes are used in the model vehicles you recommend, that would be great information to share if you do. Thanks for commenting - Cheers and safe travels
@@TheFeelGoodFamily Axle limits are not increased with suspension upgrades. There's a youtube channel who had a GVM upgrade and the rear axle was crushed where the spring sat on the axle. Also chassis rails, engine and transmission are all designed for a rated load and the weakest link breaks. There's a few banana bent duel cab utes on the internet. Better to go up a size in vehicle.
Thanks for posting, good information but having them weighed after you bought new van and vehicle can be too late. Understand what you need before you buy, then weigh to confirm you are ok. Also what about maximum axle loads?
Thanks for the information. I have a question for you if you don't mind. I live in South Australia, do you know if there any companies in South Australia? It seem to me that Queensland and the North Territory are the only 2 state that does this. I don't mind been proven wrong, in fact I would welcome it Thanks.
Best way of doin things is just go out and do it you will learn very quickly all those experts too much information when you dont really need it everyone got different needs fridges in the cars batterys in cars then fridge in caravan and fridges in caravan trust me you dont need all this
Hello …we love following your journey and how you share Australia in a perspective of your own and a somewhat unique view compared to others thank you and congrats too Maybe we will meet you somewhere on the road Happy travels smile n stay safe 😊 Jo and Greg PS …guessing you meant BTM braked trailer mass and not breaked trailer mass across the bottom of the screen 😉🫢

Thank you Frank - I’ll ask Dave more detail around these when we next meet up 🙏👍

Hi Guys, I was looking for the acronyms list.
Hi Joe, you’ll find it in our shop on our website - thefeelgoodfamily.com/shop/ 🙌
Thanks so much 👍
