    I have a quick question, how do you know if you’re over feeding them? I had 3 one unfortunately passed away and I’m just wondering if I was over feeding on accident

    I heard that they'll do fine in hard water and since I live in California I have the hardest water

  • @Poteluz

    They normally max out at 2 1/2 inches to 3 inches, larger tanks are always good but you can keep a single in a 10 gallon if you can keep the water quality pristine. I would always recommend over filtration for puffers. Nice tank and puffers!

    I always add a bit of salt in all my tanks period. Not as much as a brackish but it’s so easy to keep up a brackish tank!

    I have 9 puffers of different varieties. Trust me, you don't need to acclimate brackish fish to any change in salinity. Just put the specific gravity to where you want it. The fish will immediately adjust.

    • @SP-qs4yh
      @SP-qs4yh 4 роки тому

      True but it is less stressful if you drip/cup acclamate

      Is there a specific salinity that works best for these guys?

    • @Stuffy504_
      @Stuffy504_ 3 роки тому +1

      @@weezyfno970 They can adjust to any specific gravity instantaneously. I have bought euryhaline puffers from my LFS that were in fresh water in the display tank and dropped them in full marine conditions in my tank. No problem whatsoever after doing temperature acclimation.

      I got a Figure 8 Puffer that recently brought home..it’s been swimming around and up/down frantically. It’s in a brackish tank now. What could be the issue?

      @@weezyfno970 Every Figure 8 I ever had did that all the time. I don't know why they do that. Glass surfing gets on my nerves.

    Aaah I love my figure 8s they are just so messy I have to do constant water changes, and if I put a plec in they try eat him 🤦🏽‍♀️

    • @SP-qs4yh
      @SP-qs4yh 4 роки тому

      They are curious but they live much longer in brackish. So you shouldn’t be putting plecos anywhere near them best tankmates include bumblebee gobies, knight gobies and smaller mollies

    • @SP-qs4yh
      @SP-qs4yh 3 роки тому

      @@antoniamartinez5726 Maybe but the main reason is they are brackish which means they need slightly salty water not many plecos like salt in water sure it can be done but it’s not very good for them

    Their ph really should be 7.5 to 8. Most important is to just keeping constant parameters. They are sensitive to poor water quality that is for sure.
