As in the same room? That is fine, but be aware that hedgehogs like it much warmer than bunnies do. And you'll need to be sure they are not able to come in contact with each other.

It's legal to own a hedgehog in most states around the United States. However, there are a few places where it's still illegal - Pennsylvania, Hawaii, California, Georgia, Arizona, and Maine. Although, you may be able to own one with a permit in these states.

Imskyjorden hedgehogs spines are always pokey, but when they are scared, their spines raise out and they hurt more. But touching the ends of the spines will always be sharp. Just so you know 💖💖

I always test soaps on me before my hedgehog because he can't tell me what's wrong, this soap burns my eyes like heck. They probably mean tears as in the hair won't rip, because this brand burns my eyes. :(
+Cattherinesmith I use this brand myself, often as a face wash because I have very sensitive skin and have never had an issue with it.
It is tear-free as in it is a non-irritant wash designed to be less irritating to babies eyes. Tear free (as in rip free) shampoos have detanglers in them to prevent excess damage to hair. Tear-free (non-irritant) washes and shampoos do not contain things like sodium lauryl sulfate, which is what causes eyes to burn. Tear free ("rip" free) shampoos do contain things like this which is why they still cause your eyes to burn when in use.
Tear-free means no tears (pronounced: tares) for hair :/

It is not, here the words "tear" (from the eyes) and "tear" (as a fabric that would tear) are really different and baby shampoo is commercializes as tear-free as in it doesn't make you cry in case it gets in your eyes.

I'm considering getting a hedgehog, I've had tons of rodents before, and none of them have died before the age of two and a half, which is about the normal lifespan for the hamsters and gerbils I've had. However I want to branch out to something more exotic. How difficult and fragile are hedgehogs, are far as exotic animals go? Would a degu or a chinchilla be a better choice?

hey, if your still looking, chinchillas and degus need companions and are a little more pricy than hedgehogs. (mainly the degus :) ) they might be a little harder to find too.

just leave the new quills alone. You said it yourself, he does not like it when you touch them because it hurts.... I would just use clean water no soap. He will still get clean.

I know nothing about hedgehogs but I'm trying to do some research, and I happened to found your channel ( *Helps a lot* ) but I do still have one question. Are the quills on the hedgehog soft, or spiky? ( *Like a porcupine* ) And if anyone is wondering, no I'm not going to get a hedgehog, I just like to research and write on how to take care of many animals such as, Lizards, Snakes, Guinea pig, *hedgehog*, etc. So if any one could help answer my question I'd appreciate it :)
Hedgehog spines are made of keratin like hair and fingernails, but they’re more similar to fingernails in that they are flexible enough to bend, but they’re strong enough to stand up straight and poke something. They come to a point at the end, so they can feel quite sharp when they’re standing straight up :) When a hedgehog is relaxed, they lay their quills flat. If you run your fingers over their quills at that point, it’s a bit like running your hand through rice.

I really hope you are still making and monitoring your videos. They are amazing! I be getting my first hedgehog in 2 weeks. Your videos are helping me to feel much more confident about being a new hedgehog mommy. I do have one question that I'm hoping someone can answer. Can you take the showers with your hedgehog to help wash off their feet and belly? I take extremely hot showers so by time it gets to the bottom part of the bathtub. Can my new hedgehog run around in the run off water?

Not as bad as trying to bath a cat I tried it you can bath a cat if you’ve done it since they were about a couple of weeks old but if your trying to start when there older than that don’t at least in my experience

Is it necessary to bathe him when he’s quilling ? This may sound crazy! But I kinda know how his back probably feels when he quills . My leg hair grows super fast and it’s very thick . I HATE it . I have to shave daily or it’s very painful for anything to rub against my legs.I imagine quilling would be 100 times more painful . I don’t know much about hedgehogs . Yours sure are adorable 😍. Is it painful to snuggle with them ? I’d wanna snuggle the cuties all the time . I have a thing for tiny animals . My dog is only about 1.5-2 times the size of your babies . Do you let them run around the house ? Or do they poop n pee everywhere? Wonder if ya could train them like little dogs to go potty outside with a hedgehog door and tiny fenced in yard ? Haha 🤣

What is quilling?
It's when a baby hedgehog loses their baby quills and grow their adult quills. It can be painful. (It's kinda like puberty but for hedgies.)

Recently found your channel because I'm looking into breeding hedgehogs two or three years from now, so I've been trying to absorb all the hedgie knowledge I can! Love your videos -- they're very helpful and easy to understand even for beginner hog owners like me. (I've only had my first hedgehog for about half a year now -- they're such rewarding little critters!) Your two boys are like...the most precious, oh my goodness! I love Blaise's little face markings, and Draco's such a cute little tub-tubs!
I do have a question, though! :D Do you think it would be okay (if necessary) to give a hedgehog a foot bath every day? Or would that make their foot skin too dry? Because my li'l girl River absolutely looooves her wheel and she's almost always got poop boots!

You can give your hedgie a foot bath daily IF you either buy hedgie foot bath wash or have anything with oils ( NOT TREE OIL WILL KILL HER! ) you can also train her to poop somewhere else. And if you're going to breed, you need HEDGIE SOAP!
