  • Whats in the video is in the title. On a side note, although the exact components will be different, most starter motors are very similar to this should the same process can be followed as a guide to whatever starter you have.

    Awesome video, loved the casual conversational tone while providing plenty of information to go back to during a live rebuild, and I'm happy to say my starter found new torque again, thank you!

    Great video in fact they all are. You definitely know your stuff thanks for your help. Same or similar Kawasaki parts as the KLE 500. Keep up the good work.

    Bloody helpful videos. Helped me out a lot ( 'cos I'm a newbie to bikes ) with my restoration of a 1993 GPZ500S

    Matt what exactly is the thrust element of a thrust washer for ??? . Washers are a mystery, crush/squash, spring, spacing. Seems to be so many doing loads of different functions but all the same in make up. I assume this is a type of washer on a rotating shaft for some sort of bearing function ?

      If you can wait I'll do a quick video on washers next weekend, if you can wait that long?

    Does "old" outer oring that makes seal with the block and starter motor can cause oil leaks, do you have any idea.

    • @dirtygarageguy
      @dirtygarageguy  7 років тому

      if you mean the big orings that I replace in the video then no. 1 oring seals the motor from the engine. The 2 outer larger orings you see me replace are to keep the water and shit out. If oil is leaking out of there then you have a serious problem.

      Yes, if its old and brittle oir damaged during installation. Its more likely to let water and shit in than oil out, but yes. The magneto side is open to the oil system, juts not directly.

    What product are you using in your ultrasonic? DCN? Any chance for more info for a clueless yank? I use purple power in mine usually.

      Its called DCM (Dichloromethane) otherwise known as methylene chloride. Used in good paint strippers, but not in the EU because they're pussies. Can still be bought by the public though only to be used as a degreaser and solvent. Excellent stuff.

      Ah yeah i can't find that locally in the states, not listed online anyway. I'll keep my eyes peeled when i'm at the shops though.
