This is how I mostly use my Quest 3. I removed the facegasket and I use a bobo Halo head strap so the Quest 3 floats in front of my eyes. I can also see the sides so its almost like wearing normal glasses but seeing mixed reality. I got my Quest 3 with Christmas and 6 months later I'm still use it daily.

Last week I was in the hospital all day and bringing my Quest 3 with a extra bluetooth keyboard having Discord and UA-cam open makes such a huge difference to make such a day more barrable. Its kinda like having your desktop setup with you. You do have to watch out with sunlight not to burn the lenses. Other than that, I use it for a lot of different things. I almost finished a game called Asgard Wraths 2. I also use it with PC VR. So many options.

Not to mention how poor the passthrough is for reading. I don't much like this ad.
@SimplestUsername THIS. That hand overlay on top of your real hands is constantly there. Wish there was an ability to momentarily disable handtracking. I know immersed has a gesture for this.

As such apps become more capable, persistent windows of differing content spread through the home or business should be even more helpful than they are now. I experimented with Reality Browser and though its in its infancy, it does clearly show that the Q3 is ready for this.
I saw this ad today and had the same thoughts. An expecting father who can't even read basic instructions to put together a crib has to resort to vr help. I know I sound like a boomer, but some of the things we're advertised to are surely making us stupid and lose so many skills.
when my phone was broken for a month i used my quest 3 for things i would normally do on my phone and it was actually good for these things, it was good for opening guitar tabs, it was good for looking up things quickly or watching videos on while eating in mixed reality mode , i would move around my house with it on and eat food with it and also make food with it on, i would watch something like power slap matches mostly on it since i like power slap and watch streamers on rumble using the quest browser and i would also watch youtube in the browser ( i didnt know youtube app had mixed reality yet), it was actuall pretty good for replaceing my phone was also good for looking at tutorial videos
Just keep in mind this ad is kind of a lie, so dont set expectations to high. We have one along with our standard PCVR kits. We never use the passthrough or MR because its gimmicky junk. If your gonna use it for PCVR your gonna need atleast a 80 designation card. Meta links compression will eatup 4gb's of VRAM just by itself.
It will probably take a few months yet, I'm looking forward to this update, I hope they take inspiration from the Apple Vision Pro in the more 3D UI/UX.

loving the youtube vr app on quest 3..mixed reality mode can map 8k video to the entire wall/ceiling in your room! (yes I know the screens arnt 8k, but it means you can walk right up to the screen/wall and not lose detail)
as a new father, I used my MQ3 DAILY to read to my daughter when she was newborn, using kindle through the browser so useful when they are that young, especially because you can hold them with both arms or bottle feed them, or do any of the 5 S’s, all while continuously reading to them. now that she’s old enough to sit up on her own, I try to use real books and ones with pictures, but I still read to her with the MQ3 while I make food or am otherwise working with both hands.
They are definitely just showing off some future software features that will be rolling out soon. Normally the app windows on quest are curved and locked together. These app windows are flat and have grabable edges insinuating that we'll finally get to move 2D app windows freely! I guess the big question is when this will be available to the public 🤔
Hey dude, it’s already available. You just need to know how to activate it. So on the bar or control panel there are three small buttons next to the quick menu the first one is for notifications. The second button is for switching screen style and the third one is for turning on and off pass through mode.

Yep, it's one of the first things that disappointed me when I got the quest 3. Freely resizing windows was an option on the rift 1. They need to update this asap

I love the quest 3 but the example of holding anything small with your finger tips the quest thinks is a pinch gesture. Constantly pausing your video or clicking elsewhere. Make what SkyboxVR does for hand tracking into the main UI! You can tap a virtual button on your wrist and it disables the pinch gesture and your hands no longer are clicking everything!
I completely believe that the messed up, first version of the crib he made while wearing VR goggles. Only marketing people would EVER believe that strapping a display to your face would make furniture construction "easier" And only marketing people would believe that you need an image search, to find the right bolt. In reality it'd be, "Honey, did you finish setting up the crib?" "Just five more minutes of beat saber!! then I'll get started."

Not only a leap forward in vr/ai processing technology, but of ergonomics in bridging the form factor to Meta RayBan 3 "Hey meta" stuff.. The Quest voice assistant just became the most powerful ai command prompt on earth.
It's really not great for this sort of thing. It constantly detects your hands while you work on projects, resulting in unintended clicking a moving of your cursor. You also need a lot more lights than what's shown in the video for projects like this. Apple's Vision Pro eye nevagation make for sense for these sort of task.

We need more support for 4K streaming. Max, Disney+ and AppleTV+ are playing at 1080 and it’s just not good to replace my tv when I KNOW the device is 4k capable.

This advert is scary. Needing an Augmented reality headset to put together IKEA furniture is actually crazy. We shouldn't be lauding this as an achievement.
Really bad, on vision pro os you can place the windows wherever you want, I was waiting for that to use the quest 3.. plus like the guy zooms in to see the window a little better, I find that so stupid lmao

the Quest 3 is not perfection it has it has flaws still, but also it has improved a lot since the beginning of the first VR headsets, if you are really in to tech and own one it's easy to understand why people are positive about it, the color passthrough and mixed reality experiences are very neat
Maybe the quest 3 is different but doing anything with your hands in the quest 2 is impossible because it's constantly using hand tracking and it will be grabbing the screen and pausing videos when you don't mean to. If I'm eating food with my headset on I have to hold my food/fork with my thumb and middle finger and avoid using my index finger or it will think I'm trying to grab something.
There is a really big overlooked flaw in handtracking: pinching moves the cursor from your target and causes you to miss. This ruins the whole experience and you guys are still doing it despite how much everyone is talking about it.
quest 3 is a good headset, nice software/tracking with very reasonable price but no, vr does not increase productivity like that, the battery can't last for too long, at least not as long as assembling a baby crib for the first time.
@@ia8789 you open it and in one of the settings (I think it’s up top when playing a video) there is an option to toggle immersive off which opens your video on a window in mixed reality.

This advert is misleading. The camera quality isn't really good enough to see through. You certainly wouldn't want to try D.I.Y with it. And the battery wouldn't last long enough for him to build all that as the battery dies pretty quickly. Then it takes about 4 hours to charge up again, therefore you don't get things done quickly.
This ad is a lie, you cant open multiple app windows like that. Also good luck putting anything together with grainy passthrough in a dimly lit room. Oh and the hand tracking for windows is also no where near that fluid.

Ok, this is a good ad and I don’t care about Apple vs Meta. The thing is, Amazon shows this to me constantly while bingeing TV series, and after a while, for reasons I cannot explain, I have begun to despise the lady at the end. It could be the hair, the facial expression, the outfit, or the anticipation of her vague approval, but I want to throw the tv out the window whenever I see her now.

The idea of being able to watch guides on UA-cam without your phone sounds really helpful, actually.

I guess that sort of depends on your productivity. You can get 1-2 hours on the standard battery if you’re using passthrough and playing a video.
Get a third party strap with a battery pack imo.

This advert is misleading. The camera quality isn't really good enough to see through. You certainly wouldn't want to try D.I.Y with it. And the battery wouldn't last long enough for him to build all that as the battery dies pretty quickly. Then it takes about 4 hours to charge up again, therefore you don't get things done quickly.

@@MetaQuestVR I think I smacked my right controller too hard on the fireplace while playing beatsaber, and the tracking doesn’t work properly and the black flat housing for the buttons has popped out of place and a piece of plastic down where the palm of my hand wrests is cracked

Ok, this is a good ad and I don’t care about Apple vs Meta. The thing is, Amazon shows this to me constantly while bingeing TV series, and after a while, for reasons I cannot explain, I have begun to despise the lady at the end. It could be the hair, the facial expression, the outfit, or the anticipation of her vague approval, but I want to throw the tv out the window whenever I see her now.
