I've been running my PC with no monitors for over a year now and it's totally life changing. People don't realize that not only do you have the ability to spawn as many monitors as you want in VR, but you can view them from whatever position is most comfortable, almost eliminating the neck and back pain of being seated at a desk for hours at a time.
@@karlschleifenbaum5793 That sounds incredible! How do you maintain productivity with both the keyboard and mouse while staying equally comfortable, though?

Been using immersed everyday for my work around 10+ hours for around 3 months now. You just need a good headstrap and with a powerbank or something on the back of your head for weight distribution. It does take some "getting used to", but after about a week, it gets really comfortable for long working sessions without any eye strain or anything. Oh! And get a charger with a long usb cable for continuous power...
Hell yeah, mate! Thanks! I've had a Kiwi head strap before for my Quest 2, but I never bothered buying another strap for my Quest 3 since I like lying down without anything poking the back of my head. But as you said, for working long sessions on an app like Immersed, another strap could come in handy.
Same here about immersed. Work an 8+ hour work day every day in immersed for a couple months now. I just use the default head strap because it’s super light and have my Quest plugged in the whole time. After work, if I still play or do anything else, I have a BoboVR strap with external batteries I’ll use.
@@enrothable Not really. My PC has a good video card but my laptop is just a basic $600-700 laptop with an integrated video card and it works just fine on both machines
To address the head strap discomfort, I added the Bobo VR M3 head strap. I removed the facial interface allowing the headset to float in front of my face. I prefer passthrough most of the time so this feels most natural as it allows me better peripheral vision. I have three batteries with two on the charging dock allowing me uninterrupted work and game play. The longest session so far has been 14 hours. Eye fatigue is possibly due to the focal point as you mentioned. I have a set of contact lenses specifically for VR with a prescription moving the focal point from about 1.3 - 1.5m to close of infinity. I've found with this setup my eyes don't get tired with prolonged use and the halo style strap is very comfortable for extended use. The batteries at the back do a great job of balancing the weight. With immersed it helps to have a proper GPU. On my gaming laptop I have a 4080. I don't seem to notice any performance degradation with virtual screens added. With my work laptop which has an on board Intel graphics chip every virtual monitor adds significant CPU load and as such I use a dummy HDMI dongle for the second screen. Gaming is great on the Quest, except for latency sensitive games. On Fortnite the latency is significant enough that I prefer to play on my 16 inch laptop screen. For most other games the latency is low enough that I don't notice it. I use both Virtual Desktop (best for gaming) and Immersed (best for productivity) and then also have Fluid for on the go connectivity in the cloud.
@@Calbac-Senbreak Compared with a traditional large monitor the Quest 3 uses a lot less power for a much larger display. I'd be surprised if Quest 3 usage makes any noticeable difference in the electricity consumption.
Totally, original strap does not feel that bad until you try third party options like bobo vr or alternatives, and then try the original strap again. The original strap is ok for occasional VR use, some short gaming sessions. But then it starts to hurt, neck, face, forehead. With another head mount I can be in VR for hours without requiring a break.
An update to my original comment, I've subsequently abandoned Immersed on my work laptop. The performance impact was just too great on the severely under powered laptop even with just one monitor. I've switched to HDMI Link for the work display as most of the time I only need the one screen, just larger and further away from my eyes. For gaming I've been experimenting and come to the conclusion that the only two pieces of software capable of streaming with low enough latency are Parsec and Moonlight (with Sunlight as the streaming server). With this setup I can stream from my Linux and windows gaming laptops with excellent latency and graphics performance at 120 Hz. I now play all my games in the headset including Fortnite. For me the headset has completely replaced the need for a large physical monitor. The only update I am still planning is an IP KVM for the work laptop so I can go completely wireless again.

Meta quest 3 is a great accesible mainstream device, especially for people new to VR, but the resolution is not quite good enough at this point in affordable devices. Maybe in another 3 to 5 years .

Your description of what the resolution of the virtual monitor looks like in the VR headset is the answer I have been seeking. I do not own a VR headset yet and have been looking at getting the Meta Quest 3 when I finally have enough extra money now that the headsets have gotten better and cheaper. I want one for VR gaming (especially Cyberpunk 2077) and maybe even watching movies or TV. However, my concern for movie watching is about the resolution difference in the headset compared to an actual physical TV or monitor. Sure you can make a movie as big as a theater-sized screen in VR. However, the resolution of the headset will cause pixels to be stretched to fit smaller sizes and pixel densities. In other words, I know full well that running in 4K on a TV and actually having that 4K fill that number of pixels. Will not look the same on a screen in a VR headset. It will be altering the original 4K image to fit in a smaller number of pixels. And I had yet to hear anyone put it in terms a tech person like myself can comprehend. The between 720p and 1080p appearance you say it gets close to isn't bad. Not as good as 4K of course. But that can often look good enough to be overlooked depending on what it is. Especially for older non-4K movies and shows. I am curious about the 3D movie experience too. How will the Avatar movies look if I can get them playing in 3D on it for example? Side note, I am planning to eventually connect a VR headset directly to my gaming PC once I build my next one for the increased options and visuals. So I am curious if that will improve it too. Hi, thanks for this video. I'm trying to choose between VR headset and glasses. Can you compare this set-up vs using XR glasses (probably Rayneo, but any recognised brand like Xreal or whatever).
The RayNeo XR glasses are lightweight and great for streaming and basic AR stuff on the go, while the Meta Quest 3 is more of a powerhouse for full-on VR and AR with better tracking and performance. RayNeo’s easy to use and good for media, but the Quest 3 is perfect if you're looking for more immersive games and interactive experiences.

Does anyone know if this could help with legal blindness? I recently found out i am losing my eyesight to an extent. Like 20/400 range, and i really don’t want to lose my job when it begins to affect me on that level.
I mean, you can definitely size up the screen and bring it closer if that helps seeing things better but other than that, it's just a window in a virtual space.
I stopped using my quest 2 because it wouldn't allow me to use it as a fixed screen without a virtual environment or even move the virtual screen up in said environment so no lying down allowed. Did they finally update that or is this a Quest 3 exclusive?
Using all these apps which is best for low latency daily work. not for gaming but for trading stocks or crypto? is it best to run multiple monitors with immerse or does it lag and what bout clarity is Virtual pc better for detailed work with one monitor? over immerse 5 monitor setup?
I use immersed for a multiple monitor setup and virtual desktop for somewhat better visual clarity. But all depends on how good your network is, of course. A Wifi 6 router is a must for it to work smoothly.
thanks for your video. do you have tested this with a remote desktop setup? What i mean is, your PC is at home and you are lets say in a coworking space and want to connect with your iphone with remote desktop to you pc. but instead of your iphone you now want to use your quest.
I see what you mean, if you download the APK for remote desktop as a third party and install it that way on your quest, it might work but the UI and usability will be worse since the design is for Android phones. I would instead recommend using Virtual Desktop as a means to connect to your PC.

I wonder if I really need a laptop with an Nvidia GPU to do this (like said on meta website). I'm trying to use meta quest 3 on my samsung book with intel xe graphic (that by himself performs perfectly all 3d and queries) but I cannot use air link (doesn't even start) but only immersed agent but it is a mess, very nice view but the mouse is unusable. So I think I will change laptop, but I really don't like laptop with nvidia because they are too heavy. I would like to stay around 2.000€ not to much over. If you can help me it would be great: do I really need an NVIDIA GPU even if I don't play games to work with Meta quest 3?
See it like this, in essence you're deploying two monitors at once at a certain resolution. If it comes to 3D graphics, I would always advice looking into some sort of dedicated GPU like Nvidia or AMD. The takeaway is, how many screens do you need in the app (which is multiplied by 2 since your Quest renders both eyes) and at what resolution are you going to render them? On top of that, the 3D work you're performing will be additional energy cost so take that into account.
@@reality-rise so my laptop works because has "only" 2 monitors (the laptop screen and the 32'' external monitor) while with Meta it should run 2+2 in meta plus his monitor and it is not capable without a nvidia? thanks
Yes, for the remote session, your PC needs to be on and connected to your network. I use a Wifi6 connection, and it's directly connected with an ethernet cable.

Unfortunately the latest update to the agent ruins Immersed for anyone who has multiple physical monitors. Was using it just fine with two physical and two virtual prior. There's also allegations they're removing any posts pointing this out/critical of this from their official Subreddit and Discord, though I have not confirmed these allegations for myself.

Really can't answer that brother, but you can always try as I have never had a MacBook to test it with.
Thanks for sharing!
Do you think the quality is good enough for coding?
Yeah I think so! Depends how far away the monitors are tbh.
Which one is more suitable for graphic design that has three monitors with good resolution for a long time on the eyes
For graphic design I would still advice a regular monitor because of color and pixel accuracy. But for doing some rough drafts why not.
I stopped using my quest 2 because it wouldn't allow me to use it as a fixed screen without a virtual environment or even move the virtual screen up in said environment so no lying down allowed. Did they finally update that or is this a Quest 3 exclusive?
You mean using the screen lying down? Yeah you can do that now and can move it anywhere. Same goes for being in passthrough / virtual environments.
Does it work for Mac ?
Hey there, the multiple monitors? Can't say for sure as I don't use a Mac but another commenter did not saw the option to enable it sadly.
Ozbekmisiz?
When Virtual Desktop has multiple monitor support then were done
Oh yeah!
it has it now
Can you connect the immersed app wired for less latency?
Is there a way to get vr running even before windows logon? Say I wanted NO monitor at all.
@@robloyst4514 How do you exactly mean getting VR to run before Windows logon?
@@reality-rise virtual desktop etc can only start after you logon. So you need a monitor to put your password in that’s super annoying
Great tips thnxxx
This video is helpful 👍😌
Glad it helped you out my friend
thanks for your video. do you have tested this with a remote desktop setup? What i mean is, your PC is at home and you are lets say in a coworking space and want to connect with your iphone with remote desktop to you pc. but instead of your iphone you now want to use your quest.
I see what you mean, if you download the APK for remote desktop as a third party and install it that way on your quest, it might work but the UI and usability will be worse since the design is for Android phones. I would instead recommend using Virtual Desktop as a means to connect to your PC.
Sagol mert aga, ik hoop dat het tegen nu nog beter is
I tried with the meta quest 2 but it’s not sharp enough
bad idea, i will never replace my pc monitor with vr ,, im not going to be having a vr headset straped on my face 24/7 So my pc monitor will always be my only pc monitor.
Merhabalar Türkiye'de bulabileceğim meta quest 3 ve quest 2'yi aynı anda airlink oynarken kaldırabilicek modem öneriniz varmıdır?
I myself used an ASUS router but any router that support Wifi6 connection should do the trick.
@@reality-rise Thanks for the recommendation.
which graphics card you have on windows ?
RTX 3080
@@reality-rise Hi, very interesting, I would like to use meta quest 3 for normal productivity (office 365, big queries in powerbi, some 3d modelling in sketchup and revit) no games, wen I'm not in office and I don't have 2 or 3 screens that I need.
@@reality-rise so my laptop works because has "only" 2 monitors (the laptop screen and the 32'' external monitor) while with Meta it should run 2+2 in meta plus his monitor and it is not capable without a nvidia? thanks
What did you use for the remote session to work? As in programs used, router settings, did you had to leave your pc running for the entire time?
Yes, for the remote session, your PC needs to be on and connected to your network. I use a Wifi6 connection, and it's directly connected with an ethernet cable.
i just got done doing this, the headset hurts my head. otherwise it would have been great
I would look into a third-party headstrap to release discomfort
@@reality-rise i was using the BOBO S3
I also use Virtual Desktop, and it's very useful while working. However, I have three monitors, but within Virtual Desktop, I can only set up two monitors, and I'm unable to add the third one. How can I find a solution for this issue?)
If you own a Quest 2 you can only open 2 monitors at once, with the Quest 3 it's 3 monitors.
@@reality-rise thank you for information mate
too bad immersed limits your res and has a subscription model for all features
helped me alot thz
Immersed have a better quality than vd but there is a trick. If You have 1080p monitor will gave You that resolution inside immersed but if your pc is connected to 4k monitor then it will give You 4k resolution in immesred (its not native 4k but something between 2k and 4k) but anyway thats the solution and working on immersed its much better now
Simple answer... NO!. We are at least 10/14 years away from that happening.
Reasons? I've used both virtual desktop and Immersed from time to time while working (3d animation). I did it when my back was bothering me and I didn't have access to a sit/stand desk. It worked pretty well.
@@MrAnim8orVideos We'll see.. I still reckon we are a long way off VR becoming mainstream
@@coolmacatrain9434 Yeah, you might be right there. Its plauged by lack of AAA games right now. And the visual fidelity isn't perfect yet...not enough pixel density and still annoying light leakage, but for most things those are minor issues. Plus a good portion of people just feel stupid wearing a VR headset.
when comparing wity normal eyes when we look desktop.. how much is quest 3 in out of 10 ? please reply
I would say 7 to 8 / 10.
@@reality-rise yes i also feel same 7 to 8. but when we saw those people using vr videos in phone its so clear
Unfortunately the latest update to the agent ruins Immersed for anyone who has multiple physical monitors. Not only does it not show multiple physical monitors inside the app, it straight up tells you to unplug them rather than showing one physical and x virtual. Was using it just fine with two physical and two virtual prior. There's also allegations they're removing any posts pointing this out/critical of this from their official Subreddit and Discord, though I have not confirmed these allegations for myself.
Oh really? That doesn't sound good. Hope they'll fix this issue soon
What about as a standalone pc
how did you play steam vr at your parents house? please make a vid to explain
Set up virtual desktop to work on external networks, not just your local network.
no. gaming-monitor graphics are waaay better than VR displays.. AND VR displays need to reach opp to 100 PPD to match a gaming monitor. that will be around 10-15 years
Hmm, we will see what time tells us but nonetheless still excited for the progression of VR =D
It matters little when gaming for me. I have a qd oled monitor at 34 inches, but for some games such a mortal kombat its cool to play it on a huge virtual screen
yeah... they are better at graphics. VR is still great... they don't have to match a gaming monitor
I think once ai gets fully sorted there will be no need for monitors every game might be playable on every platform and the ai will sort your visual problems out
do you mean using VR instead of monitors
Doesn't the Immersed app have a sketchy T&C's

Yeah it's indeed a bit sketchy, but I do not use Immersed anymore since VD has multiple monitors nowadays. Thanks for the heads up though ^^
That reads like bs legal lingo...Don't put us on.
"One thousand eighty p" "2K monitor"
great in theory, but at the moment it is not that great yet imo
Let's hope the future will bring even crisper displays and it WILL! :D
Why in the world are you wearing the original Quest 3 strap?
That’s the type of hardware that should be burned on day one.
I wear Meta Quest 3 8 hours a day for work - comfort requires a new strap like BoboVR or the like.
Totally with you haha but I actually liked being able to lie down without something poking my head on the back.
I recently received a headstrap from a company which I will do a review on and will use it on a day-to-day basis.
@@reality-rise You’re definitely my type I’m a web developer, excited to explore how Meta Quest 3 might enhance my workflow with it’s multi monitor support via virtual desktop or immersed. Have you found the most comfortable setup, besides a lap desk, for using a keyboard and mouse while lying down on bed with the Meta Quest 3 on?
The Virtual Desktop App is NOT free. Its $20.
Thats correct
I have no desire to use vr as my workstation. It's just not comfy for long sessions.
Yea but it can be hugely improved from a silly strap and let all the weight slap in your face kinda way to wear it
@@toututu2993 i have a nice strap but it's still not comfy to have a huge thing on your head for a long time. it it were more like the size of glasses I'd consider it for workstation.
@@yugdesiralhave you seen the Bigscreen Beyond? Picture a “pro version” with passthrough and possibly inside out tracking.
@@pixel_eyezd3805 it still looks a bit cumbersome but that device is heading in the right direction for me, for productivity anyway.
@yugdesiral look at the immersed visor. The only thing putting me off it is the super expensive subscription it is also partly tied to.

Man why the hell are u tortureing yourself without 3r party headstrap or addon ?! U dont even have hair so the plastic at the back must be biting into your skull... There are super cheap (under 10euro) silicone head rests that make world of difference.
I know man haha but I had the BoboVR headstrap back with my Quest 2. I actually like being able to lie down without something digging into the back of my head. Will probably buy a decent headstrap in the near future for playing standing games.
@@reality-rise You can buy addon to the default strap. It looks like a curve plastic (or pillow).
