Card Update: Breaker of Creation: I didn't realize it counted all your lands as colorless permanents so this card will gain you 5-6 more life than I expected. Solid B level card! Abstuse Appropriation: I didn't realize you get to cast the card you kill at ANY point making this a 2 for 1 if you steal any black, white or colorless card. You'll still need colorless mana to steal a card in the Temur colors though so draft accordingly! Updated grade to low A!
Carefully reread the Appropriation, it only lets you pay for the Colored costs in the exiled card with colorless mana (if you have it). So if you're WB and you exile something that is RG for example, you can either pay for the RG normally (which you're unlikely to do since you're WB) or you can pay CC, but WB isn't the eldrazi colors either so that's not too likely either. I don't think you're often going to get the 2-for-1 honestly.

It’s only very bad against the temur decks but even then, you still have a shot at killing a colorless creature or you could also have some number of fetchable cycle lands in your deck that you choose not to sacrifice because this is in your deck. Also a fantastic card to splash in a green deck that will have access to colorless mana.
@@haumph i think week 1 people will totally misread the card and think its a poor mans Fractured Identity. Outside of the dedicated eldrazi colors (temur) adding colorless sources to a WB deck doesnt seem like a winning strategy. Yea. if you can do it incidentally it's good, but how far do you want to spread your mana to make this a 2-for-1? Obviously we'll see how it plays out and I do look forward to you giving it a shot. I just remain skeptical.
@@fpejanovic I think you'll be surprised. Card is still very good. You're not just going to play against temur all day. There are still a couple of b/w evolving wilds lands that you can play. You can still kill single pip cards that are G R or U and have this still be good with just a single colorless source.

Breaker of Creation counts your lands when you gain the life, so you'll almost always end up gaining 8+ life. Maybe that's enough to push it to a low B.
Paul, I have to say watching your channel has improved my limited game in OTJ. I was able to go 7 and 1 recently and it's all thanks to the way you explain the cards. If I only have time to watch one channel it's always yours. Thank you for the amazing content.
Hey Paul, I think you missed an important point about Kudo: technically it's a symmetrical effect but in green/white all you do is modify creatures. So your 2/2 bears are actually going to be much bigger than the opponent's (e.g the previous card you reviewed would actually go to a 5/5 because of the 3 counters). So if you play this on turn 6-7 you might be able to just attack and end the game
Yep, you might also play the mirror so huge variance on that card. Just trying to say that it got dismissed too fast when it's a very interesting card :)
Love your content Paul, watch it almost daily...but I do agree with someone out there, when I bluetooth this and am listening not watching, hearing "1 green and a blue" can get confusing. "Green, blue and 1," helps. It doesn't matter altogether just sayin..thanks for the content
I'll try to keep that in mind but my content is primarily meant to be consumed via video as I have the cards up on the screen to watch as well! Thanks for the feedback though and I will try to make that adjustment but it's hard since that's just how I've read the cards for 25+ years.

Something i noticed, but you can t1 mandibular kite, t2 faithful watchdog, t3, Golden-Tail Trainer, t4 bestow nyxbornhydra onto goldentail for 2 swing and have a 6/6, 4/4 flier and a 3/5. Assuming doggo and living weapon get in for 5 previously, potential of 18 damage by end of turn 4. Notably, those are all commons minus the Trainer. Yep, cant wait to see it in my draft games!
Heads up, Breaker of Creation will gain you WAY more than 2 or 3 life - it's for each colorless permanent you control, which includes all of your lands. If you're playing it on turn 5 or 6, and presumably have at least 1 or 2 other devoid/eldrazi creatures on board, that thing is gaining you in the ball park of 7 to 10 life, which is absolutely INSANE

I think with a couple of flyers in your white-blue energy deck, Emissary of Soulfire is a quasi finisher late-game because you can dumb all your energy onto one flyer. Though I have no idea, how reliably you can get to, say 10 energy counters, if your other energy producing cards also require energy. You probably really want to go all in on energy with even the 1-mana blue cantrip, that just makes 2 energy. Meanwhile with a relatively big butt being a 1/4 you can likely attack with another guy while Emissary just hangs back to block. Even when you're not producing ridiculous amounts of energy yet, you can still math it out before declaring attacks to make one attacker just big enough to make blocking oir double blocking a headache.
27:50 I think the idea with Kudo is that the Selesnya deck is full of +1/+1 counters and auras and equipment and such that breaks the symmetry in your favor. Faithful Watchdog, for instance, becomes a 5/5 with Kudo in play. That said, it's definitely a build around card where a lot could go wrong.
Sorry to shoot down your evaluation of Arna Kennerüd: Copying a bestowed Aura enchantment doesn't actually give you another Aura enchantment, it gives you a non-Aura enchantment creature. The effect from casting a Bestow card "bestowed" isn't copiable. It's of course decent to just get extra token creatures from your Bestow Auras, but not quite the same as getting them onto the creature that attacked.
Ah didn’t know that! Some of these gold cards are difficult to figure out with the essays written on them. I don’t think it will necessarily change my grade for the card though
1:11:13 Might not make a difference, but if you have enough colorless creatures, it'll essentially double trigger Glaring Fleshraker (one for the Spawn, and another for the spell). Add some other Spawn generators, and it'll start adding up.
I think Kudo should be higher than a D. With GW having a strong emphasis on modifying low base P/T creatures, most GW decks probably won't get affected by Kudo too much as he only modifies base P/T. Not to mention it's such an effective hatebear against Eldrazi decks
The MH2 Elemental Incarnations are on the Special Guests sheet for this set, so Vexing Bauble has the niche use case that it stops them being evoked. Not going to come up super often, but if you plan on drafting Bo3 it's something to consider if you can pick one up for free late in a pack.
There are pros/cons to both sides, but my vote would definitely be on doing the multicoloured cards after the mono-coloured. Feels like it's a better flow of information, less of an overload. Focusing on one colour, and it's 4 combinations, and gradually building up to the all 10 at the end.

I suppose with a mono-colour, you don't get to see the signpost uncommons for that particular colour, which are great indicators for what it's trying to do - leaving you assessing it's cards without knowing where they're meant to have homes. What happened to Warped Tusker, Drownyard Lurker, Twisted Riddlekeeper, Frogmyr Enforcer, Herigast, and Nulldrifter? They have alternate costs, but they are colorless.
I would say for the sake of argument for Kaalia: The set has 2 Uncommon Angels, 2 Uncommon/1 Common Dragon, and 3 Rare Demons. So she has some but not a ton of synergy potential. On top of that, between the MDFCs and tops of fetches, playing three colors seems like it should be fairly doable most of the time. I... don't think that really changes the rating much but I could see it being a fun build around if you can pick her up early for a low opportunity cost. Dunno if it would be worth it but I'm almost certain someone somewhere is gonna make a sweet Kaalia deck. Also a counterpoint for Necrobloom: This format has 18 lands that Sacrifice themselves (16 fetch lands) and a grand total of 53 potential unique land names, so those abilities might be a fair bit more usable then they might normally be. Definitely not fitting in any random abzan deck so it's not amazing but with so many fetch lands it should be within the realm of possibility to build around.
There aren’t that many ways to ramp though. You can make a lot of Scions but you’re going to have to naturally play out 7 different lands first before getting your first activation out of this card.
I think you could possibly live the dream with the Necrobloom. Of the double-color MDFC lands at uncommon, only the UR, mono U, and mono R ones don't intersect with Necrobloom's colors. And you could maybe pick up a rare MDFC land.
If you end up with the right cards Ugin’s Labyrinth is an ancient tomb that doesn’t deal you damage. Upside on that card is INSANE. And when the 7 drop isn’t there it’s just a land with basically no downside since the deck that wants it needs colorless mana anyway. Easily a B, possibly an A, in my opinion.
I think you seriously underestimate the Azorius common. Energy is like having a second manapool and was always better then it looked. Also I am not sure how good modified will be but it seems somewhat strange to not mention that the new watchwolf is a modified creature, given the cards right after it. You don´t need to do any work at all, it is just a huge beater that happen to be modified. also it is a 5/5 with the bear so if you have lots of midified creatures in your deck your creatures will all be bigger then your opponents with the bear in play.
I think the azorius flier is excellent. I know how energy works and how it can be strong. I have it a high C and I can even see it being a low B. You make it sound as if it’s an A level card. Let’s just take a step back and maybe wait to play with the cards before tearing down all my opinions on how cards will play out.
@@haumph obviously not an A. But I would think it is firmly in the B- range. Premium creature that you would play as many copies that you possibly could. Maybe it's just that the C range is too wide these days with very few cards being a D or F unless they were obviously targeted at none standard formats. But if you make a living from grading cards on the internet people will disagree with you, like kozilek's whatever got an A- and timme that seems like a fairly to mediocre card. At 5 mans you can kill a 3 drop? That doesn't seem great even though it replaces itself and you get to scry, this set seems quite weak compared to previous modern horizon sets even though I have not seen all the cards but I fail to see how that is a premium card with all the modes being quite bad so even geting two of them doesn't add up in my book though I might be wrong. It happened before
@@haumph trying to break the puzzle is part of the fun. Not as fun as going to the pre release and having to do it on a fly since you knew about maybe 2-3 cards but we will never get those times back so trying to predict what will be good and what will not is what we got to enjoy ourselves with these days. Something nice about the dual land/spell cards is that because the spell sides all cost hybrid mana, you don't have to play both colors for them to get in your deck. It's obviously a lot worse when the land side just becomes a bad tap land for your deck, but it still offers the flexibility of a spell land, which as you said has a high floor value

Kudo in the +1/+1 - Modified color is probably not that symetrical of an effect. Just take the Watchdog, it's not 5/5 in a world of 2/2's
Azorius is team red bull - energy that gives you wings. Their colors match, too 🙂
Doesn't "hatebear" Kudo work well with the modified/aura theme of GW? If your creatures are symmetrical, counters and auras are probably strong.
I do strongly prefer a 1-5 or 1-10 scale, but I definitely found this evaluation concise and useful. Good stuff.

Good question. If the spell is good where I want to be casting it more often than not, I'd probably try and run 18 lands.

Is it though? Those decks have the ability to create a ton of eldrazi spawn tokens. I'm likely not taking this high but I'm happy to be proven wrong.

The MH2 Elemental Incarnations are on the Special Guests sheet for this set, so Vexing Bauble has the niche use case that it stops them being evoked. Not going to come up super often, but if you plan on drafting Bo3 it's something to consider if you can pick one up for free late in a pack.
There are pros/cons to both sides, but my vote would definitely be on doing the multicoloured cards after the mono-coloured. Feels like it's a better flow of information, less of an overload. Focusing on one colour, and it's 4 combinations, and gradually building up to the all 10 at the end.
I got overwhelming comments for the other side so my conclusion is that people will be unhappy regardless of which direction I go!

I suppose with a mono-colour, you don't get to see the signpost uncommons for that particular colour, which are great indicators for what it's trying to do - leaving you assessing it's cards without knowing where they're meant to have homes.

What happened to Warped Tusker, Drownyard Lurker, Twisted Riddlekeeper, Frogmyr Enforcer, Herigast, and Nulldrifter? They have alternate costs, but they are colorless.

I would say for the sake of argument for Kaalia: The set has 2 Uncommon Angels, 2 Uncommon/1 Common Dragon, and 3 Rare Demons. So she has some but not a ton of synergy potential. On top of that, between the MDFCs and tops of fetches, playing three colors seems like it should be fairly doable most of the time. I... don't think that really changes the rating much but I could see it being a fun build around if you can pick her up early for a low opportunity cost. Dunno if it would be worth it but I'm almost certain someone somewhere is gonna make a sweet Kaalia deck.
Also a counterpoint for Necrobloom: This format has 18 lands that Sacrifice themselves (16 fetch lands) and a grand total of 53 potential unique land names, so those abilities might be a fair bit more usable then they might normally be. Definitely not fitting in any random abzan deck so it's not amazing but with so many fetch lands it should be within the realm of possibility to build around.
There aren’t that many ways to ramp though. You can make a lot of Scions but you’re going to have to naturally play out 7 different lands first before getting your first activation out of this card.
I think you could possibly live the dream with the Necrobloom. Of the double-color MDFC lands at uncommon, only the UR, mono U, and mono R ones don't intersect with Necrobloom's colors. And you could maybe pick up a rare MDFC land.

If you end up with the right cards Ugin’s Labyrinth is an ancient tomb that doesn’t deal you damage. Upside on that card is INSANE. And when the 7 drop isn’t there it’s just a land with basically no downside since the deck that wants it needs colorless mana anyway. Easily a B, possibly an A, in my opinion.

I think you seriously underestimate the Azorius common. Energy is like having a second manapool and was always better then it looked. Also I am not sure how good modified will be but it seems somewhat strange to not mention that the new watchwolf is a modified creature, given the cards right after it. You don´t need to do any work at all, it is just a huge beater that happen to be modified. also it is a 5/5 with the bear so if you have lots of midified creatures in your deck your creatures will all be bigger then your opponents with the bear in play.
I think the azorius flier is excellent. I know how energy works and how it can be strong. I have it a high C and I can even see it being a low B. You make it sound as if it’s an A level card. Let’s just take a step back and maybe wait to play with the cards before tearing down all my opinions on how cards will play out.
@@haumph obviously not an A. But I would think it is firmly in the B- range. Premium creature that you would play as many copies that you possibly could. Maybe it's just that the C range is too wide these days with very few cards being a D or F unless they were obviously targeted at none standard formats. But if you make a living from grading cards on the internet people will disagree with you, like kozilek's whatever got an A- and timme that seems like a fairly to mediocre card. At 5 mans you can kill a 3 drop? That doesn't seem great even though it replaces itself and you get to scry, this set seems quite weak compared to previous modern horizon sets even though I have not seen all the cards but I fail to see how that is a premium card with all the modes being quite bad so even geting two of them doesn't add up in my book though I might be wrong. It happened before

Not as fun as going to the pre release and having to do it on a fly since you knew about maybe 2-3 cards but we will never get those times back so trying to predict what will be good and what will not is what we got to enjoy ourselves with these days. Something nice about the dual land/spell cards is that because the spell sides all cost hybrid mana, you don't have to play both colors for them to get in your deck. It's obviously a lot worse when the land side just becomes a bad tap land for your deck, but it still offers the flexibility of a spell land, which as you said has a high floor value

I think there is one case where the counter/steal would be bad, is with prevention of a board wipe. Not sure how many are in the set.
