Triad Guitar Practice with a 1 4 5 triad chord progression

- Опубліковано 25 чер 2024
- In this guitar lesson, I’ll take you through one of the best ways to practice guitar triads, namely using a 1 4 5 chord progression. The primary I IV V chords form some of the most common chord progressions in music so it’s a perfect way to learn, practice, and memorize the guitar triad shapes.
For this lesson, we'll be working with guitar triad shapes on string set 2 (strings 2/3/4) but all the music theory concepts will work with triad shapes on any of the guitar string sets. I'd encourage you to explore the ideas with any other triad shapes you have learned.
I have a FREE PDF of all the close voicing triads available from my website...www.rynaylorguitar.com/free-g...
Lesson tabs and the backing track are available to download for all members of my Patreon group:

Learning my triads has been the single best thing for my guitar journey. If I could do it all over again I would start with learning my fretboard notes, major scales, and major triads. THEN I would learn how to build cowboy chords and barre chords with triads.
One of the best guitar lessons online. Beautiful work.
Thank you so much! 🙏🏻
Which lesson should come next after this one?
The guitar is a mystical creature & you sir seemed to have tamed the beast. Bravo!
I have known my triads up and down the neck across string sets, but linking the major triadic I IV and V shapes/chords as you demonstrated was a welcome and well-deserved slap on the side of the head and my motivation for signing up on Patreon! Thanks for breaking it down "Barney Style" and not requiring me to look for yet another UA-cam video to explain what you were doing. You explained what you were going to do, did it several times with easy-to-follow diagrams, then broke down the "we do" practice section into independent parts before putting the new learning in the context of a backing track. You might think, "Well, duh, that's the sensible way to do it." You're right, but it is rarely executed with such aplomb. I'm not a beginner, but sometimes the gaps in my learning shame me into thinking I am. Hence, my detour and discovery of your channel. Thank you.
Thank you for your kind words and support.
These are the absolute best lessons I've found on YT. I'm a long term "intermediate" guitar player and these are completely changing my understanding of the fretboard. Thank you!
Thank you David. That's great to hear!
the simplicity of your teaching has taken my guitar playing to a whole new level thank you brother!
My pleasure!
Just came across this video to supplement the exercises my teacher gave me. This is such great content. Thanks for putting this together!
You're very welcome!

Yes!
Excellent lesson! Thank you! ❤
Excellent triads lesson specially because you are applying it to voice leading progression. Very useful for me. Thanks.
Wonderful lesson you opened my eyes to some things , and made it fun and musical , thanks 👍
This is such a big deal.
These tips remind me of the tricks for memorizing the fret board but it took me a few months to realize it!!!
Thanks Ry!
What a great lesson
Great tutorial.. Thank you
I am so glad I was directed to your content . Many thanks for taking the time end effort to open these concepts to us in a very new and , as a result , much more understandable way.
Thank you for your kind words 🙏🏻
Helpful video! Thank you for posting!

Awesome 👌 thank you
Seriously such a great lesson thank you for your work . I know caged and triad shapes and this was the perfect lesson to connect the knowledge
Great to hear. Thanks for watching 🙏🏻
Very interesting and incredibly helpful ! Thank you for sharing !
Glad it was helpful!
Great lesson man. Very impressed and appreciative
Thank you 🙏🏻
Ry, this lesson really resonated with how my brain prefers to learn. I have never had a solid mental representation on the basic I IV V chord locations and in a voice leading sequence. I created 7 fret chord boxes and wrote out all the I IV V sequences several times. Next I will practice just the first set of I IV V chords on the 123 string set. So much more efficient to play all three triad versions in a related, voice leading group.
Really like your channel! This video is good stuff!
Glad you enjoy it!
mad useful brotha 💯
There are moments , not many, when the penny drops ... with a loud ping this is one of those. Inspiring , 10pm and I’m scrambling to the guitar to use this. Brilliant , illuminating... genius
That is so great to hear! That’s always my goal with the lessons. Have fun exploring 🙏🏻
Excellent lesson, and now a subscriber. Thanks!

It’s excellent ! Light bulb !!! Thank u🇫🇷👍🏼🍒
Avec plaisir!
My mind is blown!
Good to hear. Thanks for your support Alan 🙏🏻
It's strange how some channels get loads of views and in fact the content is only ok, while one like this, which I found instantly applicable and so well-explained, only has a couple thousand, at least so far. Great video Ry! I got a lot out of it that I could put to use right away. Thanks for sharing with us.
Thanks Peter. Believe me, no-one is more confused by that than me. At least you found it! Let’s hope it can help many more people in the future 🙏🏻
Its only a matter of time the channel will surely explode..
Because he isn’t explaining it very well.
Exelent
Loved the lesson, thank!
Do you have any lessons for fingerings when switching positions of the major scale for caged ?

@@Rynaylorguitar C'est un tout petit merci pour la théorie ;), mais Dieu voulant j'en exprimerai de plus grands pour la pratique, quand j'aurai le temps de travailler sérieusement la guitare ! * sighhhhh *
Hmmm... are there any lessons in French to come ?

Steph Curry?
😂 i think the same
Thank you Stephen Curry
Wow, his presentation is confusing. Reallt confusing.
Find Ry's first video on triads.
Wrong. This is very well explained and not confusing at all. You just don’t have enough knowledge of music yet, and this has nothing to do with him. You find it confusing because you try to understand high school stuff without elementary school education. Start at your level with beginner videos, learn the basics, and work your way up.
