Adi Schoones Too few cities to really do anything before you hit 500+ GPT, this means little war and obviously no expansion. This makes for boring videos :/ Unless you do the Venice archipelago cheese ofcourse!
Oral Tradition (+1 culture from plantations) might also not be a bad pick for your pantheon, with 2 plantations up and running in a few turns. Resources seem a bit sparse on this map, but maybe that's just due to its size..
My only concern in this game, is that the AI will get all the good spots and this will turn into a One City Challenge! Have you ever done an OCC, Marb? Cheers, Ivan :D
***** In fact, it's a very possible thing that the first Celts actually came from northern Poland and Lithuania and migrated to Western Europe some time later. So yeah, man :P
Have you ever thought about playing with the Events and Decisions mod or the Historical Religions Complete mod? They're both a lot of fun and add a little extra something to the game, I think. Check them out for your next game.
Hey Marb, I'm about 25 hours into civ v, but still feel a bit lost with all the mechanics ( what do city states do, except a free worker handout). So it would be pretty cool if you did a lets play with the best civ for starting players and told us about the mechanics ( talk about buildings like granary or walls, talk about faith and culture and say why you are choosing that technology). Thank you.
i know this is a late suggestion since part 2 is out, but God-King is a decent option besides fertility rites. It's an instant boost if you're expecting other religion based civs to spread their religion quickly.
Imo God King in this situation for the quick boost. It almost always pays off more than building a shrine is worth and you won't probably get a religion in this game so god king is the way to go for the quick extra stuff.
Why didn't you take the +culture and faith from wine and incense? That combined with the religious building that boosts those is great for culture and gives you atleast some competition on faith.
How did you get the game menu to show you the map type as Western Europe after choosing Random Map Type on the set up screen? Mine always stays hidden with a question mark. Even the text for that map option says "You will not be told what was picked."
Anyone's civ 5 crash consistently after installing then enhanced user interface dlc? It happens on modded games or vanilla. Any help or suggestions would be great. My Blackfoot LP kept crashing everytime I used a trade route. And randomly.
Because he doesn't want the ai to know where his capital is too early when he can't defend himself. He is trading when he knows the ai is aware if its location
"Oh, Marb's playing Ireland! I wonder what the famous Irish luck will give him."
=Ramkhamtrollface appears nearby=
...
I know that Beyond Earth is the popular Civ game now, but I'm glad that you haven't forgotten about Civ 5. It's still my favourite. Thanks, Marb!
Nice to see you playing civ 5 again....i am not a big fan of be but i watch all your civ 5 vids :)
Also you should go for god-king imo ;)
will you do a venice let's play? it is a quick pased and kind of unique experience that I personally enjoyed.
is it just me or is your mouse super fast

13:37 Trolled the troll! Look at the time!
That one-tile hill island just past the mouth of the river with copper would be amazing as a spot for a defensive citadel against naval invasions.
OMG THAT RAM... i love how your reaction was almost exactly the same in your other video xD
Thanks for another Civ 5 game! I was worried you weren't coming back!
Always enjoy your Civ 5 play throughs, good to see you starting a new one.
I guffawed when Ramkhamhaeng showed up... This will be an awesome LP, I bet!
Yay, an older series I missed out on. :) Free 22 videos

"I don't like how open and flat this land is." I think the Polish have been saying the same thing for 1000 years.
Damn, I was hoping you'd play Alexander like you hinted in your livestream. But I'm sure this will be entertaining, as usual. Liked!
I still want to do a game as Alex at some point, so that will definitely happen sooner or later. ;)
Marbozir What about Venice?
Mi B
I think he said a while back he didn't want to play Venice because it was boring or something along those lines.
Amsterdam seems to be settled where it is irl, quite funny :P
The Troll Saga continues...
Also, if I'm not hugely mistaken, Marb seems to have spawned in Poland. :p
Wittenberg looks to be in Denmark, so yeah, he is in Poland. East of that, the unknown.
My only concern in this game, is that the AI will get all the good spots and this will turn into a One City Challenge! Have you ever done an OCC, Marb?
Cheers, Ivan :D
The Nederlands spawned in the Nederlands and Marbozir spawned in Poland
Ye, historically accurate spawn locations :P
*****

yeah, and Siam spawned in the Czech Republic!
Plus 1 culture from plantations could be nice. You have 2 in your capital and a few other decent city locations that could utilize it
Ramkhamtrollface as the direct neighbour? Seems like a great start ;)
You spawned in Poland. I think it's that's a good sign. Also, William spawned in The Netherlands.
Ah my own heritage :D !! and Marbozir
you could buy that "cheap" tyle 7:55

The new luxury is cocoa, pronounced "coco" (or cah-caw if you want). I noticed you were avoiding saying its name :p
Love the modded LPs, but I think you should do every other game modded and vanilla.
damn didn't know there was an ireland mod, always made me sad i could not play my own country
TROLL CITY HYPE
why is Brian's capital, Dublin, like it should be Killaloe, since thats where he started, or Armagh up in the north
Imo God King in this situation for the quick boost. It almost always pays off more than building a shrine is worth and you won't probably get a religion in this game so god king is the way to go for the quick extra stuff.
Native of Ireland here
horay troll-face the friendliest neighbor ;)
How about picking up God King for the pantheon, given you've not really got much else going on?
How did you get a really random map from random map? I always only get Pangea/Contients/Archipelago/Fractal from that setting .
Here's a question what if you get a great admiral and u have no costal city's think about that
Why didn't you take the +culture and faith from wine and incense? That combined with the religious building that boosts those is great for culture and gives you atleast some competition on faith.
Never mind, that is silk not wine.....
are you playing in the ireland
Where is the turn 0 save?
wow, rather short video.why's that you keep doing shorter vids :/
I'm sure the next will be normal timed. At least I hope so.
ヽ༼ຈل͜ຈ༽ノ RAMKHAMTROLLFACE ヽ༼ຈل͜ຈ༽ノ
Could someone please explain what's so bad and 'troll-esc' about the Siamese?
He's notorious for settling cities right next to Marbozir in his videos.
Wow, sub 35 base production capital. I mean it could be worse but still...
Happy Saint Patrick's Day 2015!
Ello lamb I am Marowbrozi.
WOOOO

Why don't you sell embassy? I'm not saying you should. I just want to know the reasoning to why not.
Because he doesn't want the ai to know where his capital is too early when he can't defend himself. He is trading when he knows the ai is aware if its location
Kool
Lets hope that Ghandi isn't in your game, you wouldnt be able to tell your units and theirs apart :P
c'mon you're the god of war! why not get faith when you attack the troll
(just think of all the great people you can spawn when you go to war)
God king is a stronger choice under these circumstances.
ahhhhh the English .....good times
