I have never seen a game continuous screw up and be in the news as much and for as long after release as Fallout 76 has, it’s honestly crazy that I’m not surprised when I see Yong upload a negative story about it a few times a week
Well it´s not the game, but Bethesda who screws up everything the game is just the game... But to your point yes and it seems that they can´t go a week without screwing up even more then they had the previous screwup, it´s almost like the Ceo´s of Bethesda don´t want a cushy job with many unearned millions of dollars in the paycheck....🤔
It's rather impressive, isn't it? I'm genuinely in awe of the incompetence being displayed.
The only thing I can think of that rivals it is destiny 2. It seems like that’d be in the news every other weeks for the first 6 months

Bethesda: You know that engine we've used for over a decade to make all of our games? That our playerbase has modded, broken apart, and studied? We should use that for a multiplayer game. There's no way that can possibly work against our favor. No exploitation at all, right?

At this point, the modding community knows Bethesda's engine exponentially better than Bethesda knows it.

“Beta”
Making a multiplayer game that uses the exact same engine with very little variation that modders have been modifying and changing for the last decade or so probably wasn't a good idea in hindsight. I mean I'm not a modder myself (at least not a good one, I can make very simple modifications here and there but nothing big), but the process they talk about in accessing the developer room sounds like a similiar teleportation glitch that has existed in Skyrim.
In Skyrim if you have your player character doing too many animations at once in a certain sequence can result in them teleporting across the map (usually to the cell/loading screen room that you just left). If somebody manages to find a way to replicate that same bug and target it at a certain area they want to teleport too, that's likely how they access the developer room even without using console commands.
At this point, any negative news regarding Bethesda and Fallout 76 makes me smile.

Dear Bethesda,
There is an army of people out there that have been fixing your games for you since Morrowind. They're the people putting out the Unofficial Patches, putting together animation packages, and optimizing script usage. They know your games, and how you make them, better than you do.
And now you've put yourself in a situation where you're actually fighting them. And you can't win.
As someone who has casually enjoyed Bethesda games, but always have to go to mods to fix issues or just make the experience better, it honestly seems like Bethesda underestimates, ignores, and basically doesn't care about the modders. Hell you think they would be all over them as they seem to take more care and produce better quality programs/fixes then they themselves.
Which is why fallout 76 fails, they took the best thing about their games out of it, no not the NPCs, not the story, they took away modding, the thing that made their games unique and great, mods fix all of their bugs, problems and missing or not well implemented features.

Actually it implies the opposite. Because it means they really did just clone Fallout 4 and slap a multiplayer framework on top. Which speaks to how bad the Creation Engine is. @@aceclover758 they could at least try to do something with the old game engine. But they don't. What makes this worse is that Bethesda games have been famous for years for being half-finished. But that's one thing if you're doing a single player game, completely different with a multiplayer.

Fallout 76 bug-free for 5 minutes
Yesterday, after patch 1.337 the game remained bug-free for 5 minutes. This was confirmed by Bethesday officials. Bugs only started appearing when the first player joined the game again after the update. Bethesda's Ron Mo said, this is longer than any other game remained bug-free in Bethesda history.
How about servers shut down for redevelopment and full refunds for the game and any microtransactions. That'd be a positive thing 🤣
@@The_Viktor_Reznov Polygon has it on their list of top 50 games of 2018.
If you recap all Bethesda’s ... “achievements” ... with Fallout 76 when covering a new one in a video, you’ll soon have Danaerys levels of introductions.
And counting!
You stand in the presence of Bethesda of House Bugmageddon, rightful heir to the Shame Throne, rightful queen of the shills and the overly forgiving, protector of the seven re-releases, the mother of jank, the Khaleesi of the Paid Mod Sea, the Unfixed, the Breaker of Games.
not only are bethesda asking players how they got access to the dev room, theyre keeping paying customer's accounts hostage until they tell bethesda how they did it. wow.
Myni, so? That’s what most studious would do if such a fuck up were to happen.
I believe it even did a few times, I definitely remember something similar.
Not saying it’s an excuse tho.
People be like "I don't care about your shitty game, you can suspend my account while I play other games, I will never tell you lalalalala"

Or they could outright ban paying customers accounts outright for breaking TOS and doing something that is obviously not allowed.
You're complaining about them giving the offenders options.
Corgano nowhere in the TOS prevent you from entering the room. Nor has it ever got a person banned from entering the rooms in past games. These rooms have been in every one of their games but these fucking moron coders forgot to do a simple line of code preventing any of the items from leaving the room. I love how the 76 warning email is like “your character has been corrupted” after entering the dev room, and that’s the justification they’re using to hold your account hostage until you tell them how you got in.
For starters, I’ll bet your character isn’t corrupted at all after entering and leaving that room, and secondly, like the rest of 76 isn’t a corrupted mess anyway. What’s a drop of water in the ocean?

I’ve always thought it was ridiculous to ban people for accessing areas they put into the game. Like banning people for getting under Stormwind or into Old Ironforge in World of Warcraft. I mean, if you don’t want people going somewhere, don’t put it in the retail version of the game?
Even if it has to exist in the game world there are other things that could be done. You could just as easily design it as a kill room to ensure that, even in the case of glitches, only certain people would be able to do anything meaningful.
I got 3-day bans all the time back in vanilla.

"this form of character corruption"
They sound like scammers.
No Bethesda, this is not hot this works, this is not how this works at all.
There shouldn't be any code corruption from picking up items nor visiting places. No matter if you intended for them to be accessible or not.
That's not good practice to leave any defective code in the game regardless of accessibility.
More likely Scenarios:
The player probably sends the location they want to travel to, to the server to sync them up with other players, so when they noticed they fucked up, they now let the server log all the accounts that requested the testing room.
Or there is a variable in the game for the original spawn of the item, so they run a query for these items once in a while to see which player has an item from the testing room.
No corruption crap, they are just reacting in the worst possible way.
Or they are outright lying. Note how they are asking how you got there in detail in order to get your accont back. This isn't a glitch report. This is a hostage situation.
Bethesda: Lol, we're releasing a game we know is broken! Break it early! We get it!
Also Bethesda: Modders are banned. People who actually figure out how to break our game are banned.

As a programmer the really sad thing I noticed is the ease at which this could be solved. All they would have to do to stop people from accessing the dev room is when the detect the entrance to the room simply teleport them out of it. Both detecting entrance and teleporting then out is not particularly difficult. Which makes me wonder why they didn’t just sent out a quick patch to the release version the second this started.
Flamingninja70 I think they already thought about something like that but it seems banning people is the easiest solution they could think of.
I used to do QA, one of the companies being Bethesda, and rooms like these are insanely useful. There's a smoke test room in Skyrim no less. I was going to comment that players shouldn't be able to walk to this room, glitch or otherwise, but you beat me to it. xD
Wouldn't Bethesda's crap update system force us to reinstall the entire game?
Nintendo Station 1 Is this /s? Anyhow, they could easily whitelist their usernames so the game doesnt teleport them
Because we still need to be able to access the room as a player, to test the stuff that we make. If we did what you suggest, then we wouldn't be able to access the dev room either.
My biggest issue with the game is when you're fighting bad guys, and die. You respawn and so does your enemies; yet my ammo and other resources..stimpacks, etc... are depleted from the previous fight. Thanks for making all of the bad guys come back, but none of my stuff.
The damage is done. Bethesda has become just another studio where I might give their games a shot 1-2 years past launch if the feedback is excellent. If you had told me that 5 years ago, I'd have laughed at the thought. I'm sure i'm not alone.

But I think it would be fair to segregate accounts prior to a certain date to certain servers and keep anyone else after the date when the game is considered fixed on separate servers, which i doubt will ever come so I guess it doesn't really matter
I was thinking that too... It's unfortunate for the legit players but at this point, the exploits are so wide-spread that the only real fix (after the exploits are patched) would be an economy reset.

This is kind of genius actually. Think about it; if you find an excuse to ban all your customers, it's easier to justify refusing refunds!
They don't have to dig too deep to justify it, in their own minds anyway. I couldn't even get a refund on my digital download- that I couldn't' even log-in to play b/c of some communication error with their servers. I paid to play, not for 60GB worth of useless data to sit on my harddrive. Not refunding a digital download you can't play without logging into their serves is bs.
except that cripples future sales of future titles. Like sprinting with one burst and exhale then pass out before you can actually inhale at all then wake up at the hospital and owe a check for the ambulance ride
And being told that you injured your lungs and won't be running anymore in the future.
Actually the evidence would stack up against them if it went to court with everything else going on. This may be the end of Bethesda.
@@MrMontanaNights, they refund digital downloads. I had mine refunded. Given this was when it was still in beta. If you had/have the glitch where you can't log-in, you just have to put in that you can't access your account, then mention in that ticket you're specifically trying to get a refund but can't access the refund page. Once they get to you it's solved pretty fast.
All we wanted was co-op and a good story...
What are you talking about? Fallout is famous for the singleplayer, nobody wanted multiplayer in the first place.
@@banginbadger75 but a co-op experience would've been dope as a option. Like a 4 player co-op option.
At this point I just want a mod that adds co-op to Fallout New Vegas and maybe Fallout 3. (It probably does exist though, I should look for it.)
@@banginbadger75 People wanted multiplayer, but they wanted it in coop mode which is form of multiplayer. Because exploring with someone is always better experience then with just NPC companion (which is part of the reason why people want interesting companions as much as possible). Because no matter how fun it was in F4 to build huge castle around Sanctuary, it would be faster and more pleasant and satisfying experience if you would have one or two friends working alongside of you who would also have their own base in there too.
People wanted to play with other people so they could go around and change the world, argue about who to support and who to kill etc.
In short, people wanted consequences and benefits tied to having someone else to play alongside of them. To not be the superhero who alone can do everything, but to be part of small group that manages to do impossible not because there is strong plotarmor but because they had worked effecientyl toward same goal.
Except here in F76 everything is retconned. Since the game must support newer players too, nothing can really change in the world. You can not exterminate completely anything since other players will have to be able to get there too at one point. You can not make your castles from important places because newer players would not have clue about why some robot wants their help when obviously other players already secured the area etc.
@@iglidor What you just described is not a Fallout game at all. Like I said, Fallout is defined by its singleplayer features. I don't see how you could do Co Op in a role playing game, you could do Co Op in games like Halo because that series has a linear story line.
