False Advertising is a violation of law and companies can be heavily fined or sued.
Cameron Miller I hope they are, it's sickening how corporations try to scam the people without taking any responsibility for their own actions. Yet a common everyday person climbs through red tape daily. It's a miracle people still buy anything now adays. (cause it all seems overpriced and breaks around 30days)
Glad someone pointed it out. Idk how someone hasn't taken them to court over this.
Go ahead and sue them then.
Cameron Miller yes but it is not that simple. There are heightened pleasing standards and standing issues that make suing a corporation over false advertisement more difficult than you would think
@VexxyMobileYT they said they were including a canvas bag but it wasn't canvas.. That's false advertising. How don't you understand that?
Reminder that if you did buy the CE to not receive the 500 atoms. It'll likely make you unable to participate in a class action lawsuit if there is one in the future

Bethesda is a privately owned company. They don't have to respond to investors.
Yeah...and i was excited for Starfield....Not anymore.
@@microqueen69 yeah but there big greedy sugar daddy zenimax IS and there not gonna be happy with the wasted time money resources and reputation that is fallout 76
@@microqueen69 Privately owned doesn't mean they don't have investors, at all. It also has no real relevance as to whether they'll "have to" prioritize pleasing their investors or not.
You must be thinking of shareholders not investors, and the fact they're privately owned just means that the company's ownership isn't publicly traded, this in fact just makes the situation "even worse", since it gives even more power to the shareholders, by giving them even more control over the company than they would have if it wasn't private.
Investors and Shareholders aren't mutually exclusive terms/roles, but they aren't mutually inclusive either, you can't just use the words interchangeably.
I find it VERY interesting that Bethesda chose THIS game to decide NOT to offer it on Steam. It's almost as if they anticipated everyone would want a refund...
Them not releasing it on Steam almost seems like a sort of preemptive damage control.
Maybe... If you already have your own launcher/platform then it's understandable you wouldn't wanna give steam a 30% cut. I thought it was probably due to them eventually wanting to sell mods other people make through 'creation club'.
@@kennethnoisewater4423 If they were truly doing this just to get rid of the cut Steam got, then they would have at least made a refund policy that was worth a damn. The 30% cut was probably a motivator, but the ability to deny refunds was probably also a big motivator as well

Honestly... I have Evil Within 2 and was surprises to see Bethesda's name on it... I've been enjoying it so far.. but now I'm concerned 🤔
Well that is within their right. Doing that is called the black market.
@@MrMarinus18 bull butter. If the guy had stolen the game and was selling it, it would be a black market. I can't tell you how many times people have scooped up as many new consoles or games that had a limited initial release so they could turn around and sell them on eBay for exorbitant prices to customers who couldn't get one. Once you make a financial transaction, what you buy is yours. You don't sign a contract when you buy a physical copy of a game. You are not beholden to any corporate policy because said policy is not presented to you at the time of the business transaction. They cannot force their way into their home and take back possession of it claiming that it is their property. Honestly Bethesda would likely have been laughed out of court, but it costs money to hire an attorney and most people don't have that kind of cash just laying around.
@@MrMarinus18 if you read a games' EULA, you will usually find that youve been sold a License. 'The Game' remains the property of the developers. So you do NOT own the game.

[Didnt buy the game or any Bethesda game really] I'm not a lawyer or anything but this seems like a blatant example of intentional false advertising. How is Bethesda not being served a class action lawsuit? Clearly whatever they could be sued for wouldn't really be worth the lawyer's fees for an individual person but a class action could spread the burden and give Bethesda a hell of a wake up call because this whole thing makes me sick. @@spectits1496 yeah it is.... Bethesda needs to get back to making heavily moddable single player games.
A class action requires a law firm to organize petitions and spend manpower for all the coordinaton. And I think a law firm is just doing that right now
Anyone in the EU who has the "Canvas Bag" or even bought the game and are unable to return either should take these to court. It's blatant that the reason this ain't on steam is due t their refund policy. The whole reason Steam now has that policy along with many of the big hitters is due to our laws on this matter. Even more so on physical goods such as the "Canvas Bag".
They have even admitted how the bag is not what was advertised, this is a BIG case of false advertisement to say the least and could land them in very hot water if not dealt with in a good manner. Physical goods (even digital in most cases although early days) sold in the EU can and should be able to be returned if notified in the first 30 days, even for a reason as small as "not as expected".
I hate most of our outdated and abused laws, but on cases like this consumer rights are very well protected. If someone did take legal action and it would be a cut and dry, likely having a knock-on effect globally as we have seen with EA and Steam.
However.... if we make a MEME of this, it will be outlawed in the next few years with our other great laws :D

Bethesda has ALWAYS released unfinished products. People just ignored it because they would always be modded to hell and back and "fixed" by the fans themselves.

Debate Me Jokes on you a class action law suit was already in progress before the duffel bag thing even was a problem. And now they updated it to include that in there. I can’t wait to see Bethesda’s ass get kicked in court.
@@matthewbalser2235 How's that a joke on me? I'm glad they're getting sued.

Speaking from a legal standpoint, Bethesda should not be able to get away with this. When you pay for a product, and not receive what was promised, with no prior notice that anything changed, and no chance for a refund, Bethesda could and probably should get sued by literally everyone who bought the power armor edition. False advertisement or intentionally misleading/scamming people like this is in fact illegal in every sense of the word.

Just remember if you paid with a credit card, contact the bank and asked them to not process payment to Bethesda and you can save that $60-$200 and they have to dispute it with the bank. Now multiply that with half the disgruntled community trying to get a refund and see how Bethesda responds. That will get a response from Bethesda real fast.

He's right and also when they dispute and lose they have to pay the cc company for their duck up in range 100-200 per customer charge back.
@@stevennagy2305 They have to pay up whether they lose or not. $20+ each chargeback in addition to the money refunded if they lose.
Bethesda HQ: "B-but we sent him a helmet!"
Yes interestingly the exact one that they could be sued over for blatantly false advertising.
As if they wanted him to be able to confirm in person, I'm starting to think some employees at Bethesda want the higher ups to continue to sweat over this.
Wouldn't be too surprising if a few could see this train wreck coming.

This isn't new to Bethesda, back in the days of oblivion and skyrim, they advertised a burlap map with their collectors edition and instead it was plastic/paper.

This quote comes to mind.
"You Either Die A Hero, Or You Live Long Enough To See Yourself Become The Villain"
So true... So true... Bethesda. What a shame.
This phrase is misinterpreted tho. It's meant for someone who like Captain America or superman who was needed at danger but when danger is resolved and peace is secured then themself become a potential threat and conflict of interest for human kind, hence, the villain(captain America civil war). It is not about you literally turning into a morally bad guy.
We understand and don't respect that there is a problem with the bag in our power armor Edition please contact customer support to receive a big fat middle finger thank you
The bag just has some bugs. Just wait for Bethesda to patch it.
Bugs? Dont you mean a cool feature.
They’ll just patch it with more nylon.
They'll patch it with a £60 Price Tag and 120p Graphics.
inb4 half the bag is malformed and unusable because it's occupied by more nylon. and one handle is way longer than the other one.
If anyone bought it report it to Amazon. Their description still says canvas and the picture is the same.
Bethesda: Someone take this guy out
Hmm, I am going to see if Amazon will do anything with a false advertising claim. Lol, probably nothing but who knows.
@Nate Franco What the fuck got shoved up your ass to make you this pissed lol
EA is one hell of a drug...and Bethesda's been smoking a lot of it.
Actually, Bethesda is more "evil" than EA for a long time now, at least imo. They exploit the mod community, clearly saving money with limited development cycles because they know the fans will fix their mess for free, also create more content. It's so disgusting. I think modding as a hobby is something positive, we do it because we love these games, it's the major positive of gaming on PC (and the sweet emulators, or course lol). But, when a hobby becomes something twisted, it's time to reevaluate what we are doing as a community. We are actually helping or just make things worse? In my mind, the mod community is feeding a ugly monster.
But do Bethesda like to provide players with a sense of pride and accomplishment?
remember the whole save player 1 thing, how bethesda pretended to be the good guy? yeah all that positive PR went to the shitter with fallout 76

Why do companies these days seem to be hell bent on losing their customers? It's truly baffling.
Because the whales make it worth it. For now.
stormin Normie because the economy is about to dive so they are doing a mad cash grab. This shit show we call life is about to come to an end. That’s why everything is bellying up.
Because a company's customers are its shareholders. The people who buy the products are just consumers.

And to think , Bethesda not long ago was the darling of the industry. Oh how mighty have fallen...
Were they really though?
I dunno. In my eyes they have been on a pretty steady decline starting with Skyrim. Across the board streamlining, paid mods, horrible PS3 ports, almost pointless remasters, game breaking glitches, microtransactions, etc.
I feel as though everyone has given them a free pass because at least their games were massive and offered something no other game could. But now that they really released a mediocre, unpolished, repurposed mess, they have nothing to fall back on and at this point no matter what they do they are pretty much screwed.
The internet doesn't quickly forgive, and F76 has literally become an overnight meme with how terrible it is being handled. Bethesda has fallen FAR lol
Well, no. People that developed mods for Bethesda games, for free, those were the darling of the industry. Mods that improved quality of life on those games, and sometimes even fixed game breaking bugs. Those are the people that gamers really appreciated.
