I would say he instead of wandering the wreckage in order to build weaponry, he was more simple than the rest of his family, and went into the wild, where he was mutated by a monster egg or some bullshit and turned into a half-monster hybrid. perhaps he could have a monster sense that could track the monster from far away, but only he could see it. seems more like a trapper thing but still. anyways, the mother I assume is the medic. the medic clearly has some form of power armor of her own, not as bulky as Ida's but not as lightweight and simple as jacks. she made a super suit, which burns the plants on shear which we already know have healing properties and created a healing flamethrower, with flames that rejuvenate organic matter instead of destroy it. this is backed up by youtuber GrizzleMarines comment on how the supposed medic may be one who spouts "crazy healing flames" to keep the team together. now he says this is theory, but in the same pre-jack announcement video, that the new trapper may be a young kid with lots of gadgets, which was a theory that one of his friends from turtlerock told him. then turtlerock messaged him and told him to stop spilling the beans about their game. so yeah, wall of text aside, a single family comprising tier 5 is not as unlikely as you may think.
