Let's be honest, If CZ sells the Bren 2 for a few hundred dollars less than the FN SCAR, you will see people JUMP out of their seats and run to this. ESPECIALLY when the 7.62x51 CZ Bren 2 comes out.
Not just that, but the SCAR17 has had supply problems for years when it was $2700~, now at $3100, supply has come back in numbers. If CZ Bren 2 in 308 can hit the market at $2000~$2500 AND have better supply than FN during their early years of release, they might be onto something. But the SCAR still has a big head start with all the military testing and adaptation, so it'll take a bit longer for Bren 2 to catch up. Unless their 308 Bren gets adopted by a few other national militaries and no huge reports of issues come from it.
What I like is they managed to coat the inside of the barrel with hard chromium. That was a feature of the original vz 58 but it was 7.62x39. The sub contractor said the 5.56 hole is too small to do it but they tried anyway. They came up with a solution and here we go. The chromium allowed 120 000 shots to be fired from the vz 58.

Now that I've seen thousands of slow motion videos of rifles.. In slow motion these thin barrels wobble like a mushy banana.. But thin barrels must be good for dumping ammo at short ranges because they cool down quicker and are lighter.

I heard a lot of bad things about the 1st gen Bren regarding reliability and the gun not being able to take punishment from the elements and also apparently lack of stopping power. Gen 2 Brens are much much better at this - CZ did a presentational video of putting it into dry ice for like 20 minutes and then shooting it no problem, dragging it in sand and mud and it still works well.

You know, a lot (if not all) of the guns I see in slo-mo in your videos (like this one) have barrels that bounce after firing. It seems they mostly stabilize before the next round goes off, but I would think it still affect accuracy somewhat. I was wondering if this a feature that is intentionally engineered or just a design limitation, where the ideal would be a perfectly fixed barrel. Also, can you do a video explaining the pros and cons of guns that fire from an open vs a closed bolt?
Actually I'm pretty sure the barrel whip is normal the longer and thinner the barrel. If you were to bed that barrel to the stock/upper it would reduce the accuracy because the harmonics/whip would get messed with. If you gave it a heavy barrel at the same length especially if you were going to be doing alot of full auto fire then you would increase accuracy and heat resistance from the thicker barrel. I'm no expert on barrel whip but I'm pretty sure it's not a major limit on accuracy because the bullet is already out of the barrel by the time its whipping and the point is to make it stop before the next round is what makes a good barrel I'm pretty sure but don't quote me
Nice improvements, but I have to imagine the increase in rate-of-fire and decrease in weight makes it worse in full-auto.
