  • Terroir talks with Jean-Baptiste Bachelet. This premier cru lies opposite Charmois and has a South West exposure. As Jean-Baptise explains it’s a big climat 13 hectares in total - wide and stretching from the bottom near the road to the top, so in the same area you can find very different wines. Jean-Baptiste’s part runs from bottom to mid slope on the Chassagne side. The soil has a lot of stones. With south west exposure it is already a warm site and the reflection adds to this. Maybe one of his warmest climats. Jean-Baptise describes it as mineral and tight. You cannot pick too late, he says, or it can get too heavy, but picked early enough and it will be fresh and ‘tight’.
