- Join my wife and I as we do our best to get this old VW camper bus back on the road.
In this episode, I showcase some of the interior progress.
Slowly this VW restoration is coming together! Thanks for watching!
We hope to do some traveling and camping in it once it is restored and roadworthy.

There’s nothing better than when a Kombi comes back together and that ‘dack, dack, dack’ trucks you on down the road, superb job.🤟🏻 ‘Roberta’ would be a fitting name, if you’re into naming things.
Since you mentioned Roberta , what ever happened to that sweet lady ? I've looked back through episodes but did not see a mention ? . . . . anyone ?
In his internet garden vlog Clark mentioned that Roberta had passed away.
@@TeeVeeZed123 Thank You for the info, SO sorry to hear it ! I like your idea to use her name . Very thoughtful 8 )
Nothing better than seeing a old vw brought back to life. Great job..,.
That's right!
This is my first time here. I was watching this because I want to get a VW and I was thinking about interior design. And then I saw the Oklahoma licence plate. Nice!
Welcome! Thanks so much!
Grace and grease. Love it! I am restoring a 1973 VW Bus.
Loved the video. Love the shirt too. Been a dream of mine since I was 14 to have a van like this
Super stoked!!! Look forward to your updates....Very Kewl !

Thanks - you know the patience it takes ;)
Another awesome update guys! I can't wait to get to where you are with my bus.
You have done a good thing. An old VW, is a thing of beauty. TY
Indeed it is!
Awesome job!!! What a transformation!! From death to life for sure!!
Looks great 👍🏾 love your bus updates
Felicidades por tu proyecto, se ve fantástico, yo también me gustaría tener una Combi como la que tienes se ve genial 👏👏🤗👍🇲🇽
Nice update on the progress
Nice bus, the paint looks great for diy in your garage... Hey build an attachment for the bus to mow your back 40 acres! Hang in there with that transaxle, I once drove 400 miles in my '65 bug with just 2nd & 4th gear from the San Francisco Bay Area to LA, over the grape vine mountain.... wasn't fun, but kept me awake after college finals week! Ahhh the days....
Between the upholstery and woodwork, this is coming along primo!!
Also, you need a "grease and grace" bumper sticker, and maybe t-shirts.
Great video... hope to see you on the road making a vacation video 👍👍👍
Same here!
I enjoyed this update!
You snapped ! Awesome job ma dude

Old style door panels are great
So many thingies to look at.....
it's a beauty !
I love it !!!!!
Dude, I am always amazed at how much you know about this. Excellent work Clark!
Great to see :)
Looks awesome! Love seeing these videos. I just drove mine from Michigan to Los Angeles. The stories that come from these are just too good
That's awesome!
VW Life thanks! Driving through the Colorado Rockies was a trip! Cheers
Looks amazing! Been following your project from the beginning, can't wait to do this to my 71 westy
Thanks so much! You can do it!
Nothing beats an early Bay Westy!
Have you fixed the issue with gear popping out of fourth. Can you please me know what you had to do or any replacement parts you considered. Really appreciate it ! Great video
Looks Fantastic Clark! Keep up the good work!
Thanks for the encouragement!
Excellent stuff....question where did you order the VW emblem?
Hi, I am restoring a 70 VW early bay Westfalia like yours. Would it be possible to get the dimensions of the back square cushion that rests over the engine, mines completely missing but I’m pretty handy with a sewing machine. If not no worries I’ll continue my dimensional quest.
Nice bus. I drive a 70 tintop westy here in the Tulsa area. I need to put some videos of it on my channel. Have you replaced the master cylinder yet? If so where did you buy it? I'm searching for one.
Thanks! I did replace it and believe I bought it from wolfsburg west.
Hey Just a ? Are you going to build the side closet next to the bed
No I am going to build a flip-top box the same height as the armrest to fill that gap. I prefer having a window. No need for a closet in my use case.
Great progress! How did you attach the hinges for the table to the side panel?
There is a larger piece of wood behind the panel that the hinges mount to.
Where did you get your rear seat brackets that flatten the seat out for a bed.
The bus was a camper and came with the hinge brackets.
love the shirt! Your wife did amazing job on the cushions! Your bus would look really nice with a sidestep. Check them out on bus Depot's website they're actually not too expensive and they're pretty helpful. It's really coming along in it and we are so happy to see you as happy as you are about it that's what it's all about! Are you going to build the side closet next to the bed?
Thanks I’ll looks at the side steps! I am planning on building a flip top storage box the same height as the arm rest. I am sure there are lots of people that would have like to see it all go back original - but I’d much prefer to have that window to see out of.
@@clarkunderwood good call!
I guess I'm kinda randomly asking but does anyone know of a good site to watch new tv shows online ?
@Dakari Jamari flixportal :)
@Lucas Xavier thank you, I signed up and it seems like they got a lot of movies there :D Appreciate it !!
Hi guys! Where did you buy the hinges for the bed?
Cheers
SANTIAGO CARREA they were original to the bus!
Great restoration. Did you have to anything with the louvered windows? My ‘70 needs a little help with seals and tightening up the mechanics. Keep on buggen.
👍🙏❤️
I only oiled them and worked them slowly to get them
back into shape.
What kind of mileage are you getting? I only seam to get 10 to 12 mpg on my 73 bus. I have been following you all since the redwood trip in the old bus. I wish I would have done a frame off restoration like you did on the new bus but I did it like you on your first bus, with the exact same problems. I feel your pain !
You must be running fat. Adjust the carb and timing maybe?
I haven’t calculated mine yet but 10-12 is low. VW life’s comment is great direction I am sure.
do you have the side peaces for the front bumber? Car looks good!
Thanks! I do not have them but do plan on adding them.
Excellent work, you two!
The bus looks and sounds so fine.
Hope you get your transmission sorted out. My last VW Bus popped out of 4th gear, also.
Happy Trails
Thanks! It was disappointing when it started popping out of gear. Par for the course though;)
even the windshield wiper fluid reservoir got painted ....
VW making mechanics out of regular people for 70 years-- get a bunggi cord for 4th gear- ask any old splitty driver-- also loved your first bus restore - gees what a project--
Wow, this thing might be done by 2023. Lol.
Maaaaaaaybe!
Mate, please make sure you insulate your van, otherwise you will have a big moisture problem!
A lot of work, but worth it?
100% worth it.
Life is about the journey, not always about the prize. He had a great time doing it.
👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
how does this video have 36,000 views
it’s a video about a bus that has already been restored LOL
really could have done a better job
adding a bunch of heavy wood makes it a lot slower
