    It is important to talk about the potential danger of this diet/lifestyle. Some people do fine, most do not and need to change their ways. I think it is also important to give former vegans a place to go of acceptance and understanding. It seems people are almost afraid to get out of the lifestyle because other vegans can be awful to them for it. This channel is a great start!

      Homemade bone broth helped my melting bone structure to rebuild time after time, one cup at a time. I can't stress enough how much tighter my teeth now sit in the gums after almost a year of ancestral protocols, and i love the difference in my jaws - they were literally melting to the point that there were holes in the jaw bone and my left side of the head slightly collapsed and folded in where the two jaws meet - at the prime of my years! Now they filled back in, also the sides of the scull and i feel the temple area has filled out nicely with new strong bone matter when i do my weekly scalp massages:) and i no longer have to envy people for their great bone structure cause i got mine back

    Part of it for me was absolutism. A dietitian told me that other people she saw would cut back on things that were supposedly bad for health (like saturated fats at that time), whereas I would absolutely eliminate them. I wouldn't touch anything that I had come to believe was bad. Even a sip, literally, of wine or beer was off limits.

    Thanks for sharing! I was vegetarian for the better part of my 20’s (in my early 40’s now) - I lapsed into veganism a couple times. I had many health issues, was underweight, very under muscled, despite being active and lifting weights. I was so discouraged because I was eating such healthy food, but I was tired and didn’t feel well. Ignored the fact that it was probably not the right diet to nourish my body. Years later I found out that I have food sensitivities to gluten, beans, legumes, nightshades - everything I had been eating for years. I now eat a whole food diet - animals and plants. No gluten, wheat, grains, or other foods that I can’t tolerate. Veganism is not a “cure all” and it doesn’t work for everyone. Listen to your body, if you feel healthier eating fish, steak, eggs then go ahead and eat them!! There are many ways of eating that lead to good health!

    Breaking bread, feeling more connected to the land, and your ancestors..... helpful ways to transition back into animal products which was not psychologically easy for me, although my sunken eyes did help too lol! I could do way more pushups almost instantly because I had let the break down go way too long, also. I think young woman are suffering the most from commitment to a vegan lifestyle for reasons you touched on. People please be open to changing your diet and lifestyle when it is no longer working, these symptoms are not normal or to be brushed under a rug! The diatetic associations recommend veganism based on heart disease.... however there are so many indicators for health ! Your gums, teeth, sleep, hair, nails, menstrual cycle, body heat, metabolism, pain, digestion, joints, cravings these are all so important ! Stress can feel good but eventually you might crash if your cortisol and adrenaline are maxing to make up for lack in nutrients...

      @@flowwithchlo I believe there are a lot of issues with BMI. It takes only two values into the consideration, while human body is much more complex.
      I was overweight my whole childhood, and once I lost weight, and my BMI was in a really healthy range, I just felt too skinny. My bones were overly showing, I had no muscles, and was sick a lot. Now, when I feel like I am at a good weight and I feel comfortable, now my doctor tells me that based on the BMI I am almost obese.

    • @verabeara2106
      @verabeara2106 3 роки тому +2

      @Matej Kuric The BMI does not reflect the individual physiology of the human. It is a mere metric tool that comes in handy for comparative studies of stats and yet it reflects in no way the individual bodily strength and resiliance and evolutionary valuable stored bone matter and fat deposits. All physicians should take regular backup classes and learn about metabolic health, mitochondrial performance etc instead.

    I resonate so much with your story but I think you have to acknowledge your privilege in choosing sustainable meat. I believe sustainable farming is the future of animal agriculture but at this point it is a very expensive choice. In my country free range chickens and grass fed cows are ridiculously expensive for a college student and so difficult to find. I'm really grateful to have my grandparents to provide me with chickens, cheese, eggs and lamb but not everybody is in the same position and we have to acknowledge that.
    Thank you, you're spreading such helpful information for the recovery community.

      @flowwithchlo  4 роки тому

      Everyone is in a different position, that goes without saying. Yes I am very fortunate but I also work very very very hard and money doesn't come easily too me. I've had a job since I was 14, got a scholarship for school, and worked 3 jobs (at once) all 7 years of my education to be able to afford these things.I studied Public Health and so I am very aware of the poverty of our nation and the harshness of food desserts that prevail our country. This is a social issue that will take years to correct which is unfortunate. I wish that they were cheaper options for good quality stuff and hopefully overtime as we continue to support these farmers the price will drop and it will be more affordable for everyone. Im a huge supporter of backyards chickens for those who have the space and ability to do that. I get 8 eggs a day from my chickens and simply feed them my scraps and let them roam the garden so they are not too much of a cost, besides winter time when we buy them some feed cause food is not as abundant.

If there's not enough cholesterol the synapses can't work properly and the myelin and sheath can deteriorate making nerve signals pass slower. My period got more irregular (already was irregular and very painful which is why I tried flexitarian diet) and I was trying to conceive for 2 yrs w no luck. I started getting dry skin, dry down there and dry eyes and dry throat all of the time. My skin was looking dull. My periods were a bit less painful so I continued for 2yrs thinking it was working and I just needed to give it more time. Turns out my periods were so painful because I react horrible to dairy and beef which is why it got better. But now I was getting nasal allergies and rashes and it was kale, spinach and soy causing it which I was eating so much of! So I started eating animal products again regularly adding in seafood, chicken bone broth and lamb and goat milk while still avoiding beef, cows milk and the veg that did not agree with me and my next period was on time and painless. I noticed my libido returned with a vengeance. 4 months later I conceived and now I have a beautiful 4month baby boy.

      Yes I first went vegan when I was 14 for 6 months wherein I lost my period. This was also when I became anorexic. Then years later I went vegan again and tried to recover but gaining weight, eating lots of food, and not exercising excessively and yet I still couldn't get my period back and was dealing with so many health issues. It wasn't until I added back animal products that my period came back.

    • @icke11234
      @icke11234 3 роки тому +2

      @@flowwithchlo Still, I don't see what becoming anorexic would have to do with being a vegan. So you did not get your period back even during the time you stopped being vegan? If that is so, why blame it on only six months during which you went vegan than stopped being vegan and still did not get your period back? This does not make much sense to me from a logical standpoint but also, I think it's not okay to make people believe that being vegan equals losing your period, which is simply not true because I was vegan for years and never lost one single period.

    Ok as a life long vegetarian from birth, I feel sorry that this is the reaction you got about menstrual cycle. That makes my feeling strong veganism is a cult. Even our ancient wisdom speaks for vegetarians also to rely on healthy dairy fats such as Ghee, white butter, milk, etc. It was never removed. People then meat eaters or vegetarians did not live industrialized life. So no supplements, more purity. Veganism for me as a hard core vegetarian also looks like a cult not a healing methodology because a healer has to be open not an activist for one idea.

    You should consider leaning more into Keto or carnivore. Only carnivore if you wish to do a more elimination diet to truly reset your body then re-introduce other products individually to see how you react. I was a type 2 diabetic and moving away from the standard American diet to first keto and now more on carnivore has reversed my condition and down from heaviest of 310lbs to 184 lbs. I'm at the healthiest I've ever been now at 51 yo. I do still have some veg here and there (more like trace type amounts) and I do some diary along with animal products. Anyways, just a thought if you wish to give keto or carnivore try for 30 days.
