Amazing video, really enjoyed it! You must be an interesting storyteller. I was quite surprised hearing how close the two can come, especially when you compared the first channel on the JVM pushed to the maxed out ch. A gain on the 900, and when ch. B half gain was compared to the green mode of the second channel on the JVM. I can't help but notice that you mentioned on at least two occasions that the 900 is just fun to play. That matches my experience as I too consider my JCM900 to be the funnest amp to play. It helps a lot if you can push those master volumes past 6.5 and start driving that phase inverter, it overdriving drowns out any potential hiss from the diodes on ch. B. Great work!
Nice in depth video demo & analysis! I’m still liking the JVM, though I have become somewhat spoiled with having 4 channels to basically set and forget. I usually roll back the gain on the red channel to tighten it up and add a boost to keep it in the fun zone for me on OD2. OD1 lives in the orange mode and I back off the guitar volume to clean it up a tad without switching to green or the crunch channel.
@@DeathMetalDevin Yeah, it was actually one of your comparison videos that talked me into upgrading from the JVM210H because my Friedman has something that was missing in the former. Still ended up looking for the right TSL100 for over a year to get something to cover more of the spectrum since I was in that rabbit hole already. Happy Weekend!
I owned two 900 Dual Reverbs and none of them were as gainy as this one, maybe they were both not very healthy? I'm talking unboosted. Such a shame because I loved the tone. Loving all your amp shootouts man!
Yeah, the 4100 here is a 5881 version with 6l6s, not to say that has much to do with the gain tho. I don't remember seeing what preamp tubes are in it. Might be the difference there?
@@DeathMetalDevin could be! The difference is huge though, your gain at noon was like my gain at max, but with the looseness that comes with having the gain that high

900 for thrash or death tones... that JVM on the orange channel, boosted with an OD is as good as any 5150 for modern tones!
Totally agree with everything you said. Cheers man!
900 all the way for me

Spoken like a true 410 user! I use to have a 410. That OD1 is huge sounding

The 900 is modded
@@StEvEn420BrUlE Yeah but just to get the clipping diodes out, which should lower gain, not increase it

Slam that 900 with a proco rat and youll get close to morbid angel and obituary tones
I've never actually tried a rat before. I should def get one for a different flavored pedal
