As a New Yorker, I can verify that everything in this video is 100% accurate. Except for that homeless man standing inside the apartment next to your bed.
I've heard New Yorkers say there's two versions of New York: the one you see in movies and TV and then there's real one. The one on TV is usually some American city paradise, while the real one is more like this video. But New Yorkers still love it.
This. Hit. Home. I'm actually crying because I will sadly not be asked to raise my son here. My childhood friends have moved away. New York has lost its character. There's no more fun here.
That's not the city losing it's character and being no more fun. That's you getting old my nigga. I'm in the same boat. "It was more fun before" but that's because "before" I used to be young, and everything's always more fun when you're young and and your friends are here, etc. But then people leave, your old haunts disappear, and you miss the old days. Meanwhile there's plenty other kids having just as much fun as you did back then.
The Bittersweet Gumiworm I know it's just a joke. But I'm gonna be that guy. I'm pretty sure that, with the USA starting off as colonies, the city was named after York, another well-known city, located in England.
I'm going to move to New York to open a Fedora thrift shop. It will be two stories just so I can have an elevator that plays Macklemore and Ryan Lewis' Thrift Shop. We will sell: High end cigars Beard oil other beard maintenance products Fedoras Blanket Scarves Vans shoes VW bus campers with built in automated rotisserie campfire hotdog and s'more roaster Vespas Beanie beards Sundresses and waist belts Sherlock pipes and flannels Our stock will be limited, but to meet hipster demand all products will be customizable and bedazzle-able with selfies and favorite Shia LaBeouf quote.
enzoTHEferrari Nope, more like anywhere between $2000 and $3000 per month for a 2 bedroom apt. So you better have a)$4000-$9000 just to move in (1 month rent 1 month security deposit and in some cases, a fee just to get the apartment b)A really good job (or two) c)roomates, lots of roommates d)a bike to ride around town in because you'll need the money you'll spend on the train or cab or bus for your rent. Oh, and don't bring too much, cause the rooms are tiiiiiiiiiiny! Good luck!
***** what do you have against christans? seriously what have we ever done to you? or does this spur from the one time we actually put our foot down and say the gov has gone to far offend you so much. just remember we will call you a sinner but at least we wont blow you up.
New York may have a bigger population than L.A., but we in California have a lot more space to spread out in than New York does, even though for some reason we tend to cluster mainly in the far north or South of our state. Seriously, check a map of California's population density and you'll see that the Bay Area and the L.A./San Diego areas are high in population, with small clusters here and there in between. Third largest state, but first in population count.
AdaptiveReasoning Yeah, this drought has been a bitch. But, just like how Johnny T. loves his state despite the crap, I love my state despite its crap.
CartoonLab California's great! It's such a lovely state! And every lawn is sitting on A continental plate! Los Angeles had fires, and a riot, and a flood, and still a drought, and a recession And then now we hear this thud!
+crixxxxxxxxx I don't know what happened but i remember going to new york when i was like 7 or 8 and seeing planes flying so low over the building it looked like you could almost touch them, I'm not sure if that's changed or might be across the river in new jersey or by LaGuardia, anyone know if new york used to be like that or if it's just somewhere near like new jersey, I know they had helicopter tours right by
johnny t is my favorite character. please have him do more. i have had this song stuck in my for two weeks. even though i know this song- if im having a terrible day i still watch it and laugh out loud. do a lot of people say that to you? i binge watch your show when i want to cheer up. everytime gorilla dances it feels like a personal gift just for me. honestly-im such a huge fan. also-i have a $15.00 starbucks card at my house. if i put it in the mail to you, will it help you make more videos?
I always wanted to live in New York. It seems like that's the only place that has any real job opportunities and quality entertainment, and you don't need a car to get around. Just too bad the rent is so insane. :-(
Shawn Ravenfire its great here but you have to have really tough skin and move fast haha. the outer boroughs isnt as expensive, but you have to have thicker skin.
carmonkey haha thats in the city though haha you can live in queens staten island long island you dont gotta live in the city and you can get a car to get around if you want thats your choice
Frost Legend born and raised in queens. never had a car family never drove. we've taken the subway everywhere. most of my friends dont have cars at all.
As a girl who lives in NYC now and whose Dad lived in Queens in the 70s and 80s and whose Mom lived in upper Manhattan in the 70s and 80s, I appreciate this whole history of New York of the last 50 years so much. lol
You must be like the little girl I was supposed to have, but had three little boys instead. I lived in Queen’s in the late 70s and The Upper West Side in the 80s. I do have one son still living in NYC. One lives in FT Lauderdale a far better place. Florida here I come 😂
I remember the early nineties New York exodus. About the time I got my first apartment, I swear every other car in the place had New York plates. That was in Chandler, Arizona, and my girlfriend at the time just moved to Arizona from Long Island. She would complain about how expensive it was to live there.

ariwl1 i hate the subways, tourists, the moody people...but i would never leave lol
Despite what people think, and Hollywood portrays, New Yorkers are fantastic people. That's why they stay.
As a native New Yorker of over two decades, this is 99.8% accurate.
What’s the 2%
I want Johnny T and the voice from the Arby's commercials to narrate my life.
Heh. Awesome.

Yup. More Johnny T, please!
Had a shitty day and Johnny T has made it better.

(Insuffurable giggling heard in the distance in the direction of New Jersey)
This video makes me feel so sad. New York has changed so much over the years, it's completely commercialized
Somewhat, but a lot of this has always been accurate.
I am from New York and jeez this was upsetting almost. But I thought u guys are from Brooklyn O.o
Tomasz0216 The Glove and Boots guys live and work in New York, as far as I know. The production company, Bento Box, however, is based in L.A.

Seriously though, how much does it cost to rent a 2 bedrooms apartment in a very safe and practical part of New York?
Like, $2,000 a month?
enzoTHEferrari A studio would be more expensive then that.
enzoTHEferrari Its like $5000+ in Toronto, Canada (basically our NYC) for that kind of place to live, so Its probably twice that in New York.
Chris McCartney I guess there is a reason why dreams are called dreams...
Changing my plan to a 2 weeks holiday there instead of living there.

Quick question: how many female characters do they have?
If I'm correct, they don't have any!
Can we get Johnny T. retroactively initiated into the Rat Pack?
Yeah New York is getting very expensive for us New Yorkers it's time to get out of New York.
