I do have a suggestion my mom taught me. I don't add raw eggs till the end so I can taste throughout to make sure seasoning is right without eating the raw eggs.

I laughed when Chris said maybe the dressing made across the street would be different. I myself have never seen any wet dressing like this and I'll be 72 next week. However, I'm really intrigued and want to try a smaller version of it. We love celery, in bigger chunks, and I almost always make a mirepoix of the chopped onion, celery and either carrots or water chestnuts. So, dressing/stuffing...whatever one calls it...let's just celebrate the differences and try them all. Have a great time traveling and being with family.

The milk makes sense to me. My mom made a cream soup to put in it which, between the milk, the cream of chicken soup & broth you're using, really turns out to be the same thing.

I make my dressing a day or two ahead of time, too. Then I pop it in my greased slow cooker to cook it - just remember to stir it every so often as many crockpots have hot spots. Of course when I serve it, it probably doesn't look as pretty if it hadn't been stirred BUT it's a win-win as you free up oven space, smells so good, and it is just as yummy. Many blessings to you and yours!

I don't know if my comment added at end of live chat. I said, enjoy your new freezer, it's nice. I watched you make those two gorgeous cakes. I was so glad the cake didn't burn! I got out some chicken breasts and thighs to thaw for a pan of chicken and dressing. I have a piece of cornbread, some dinner rolls left over so that is the base of my dressing. If I need to I will make some cornbread batter and add to it as I short cut the cornbread that way.

This is the VERY, VERY BEST dressing instructions ANYWHERE on the internet!!! U don't know how much I appreciated this. My mother passed away in 2010. I always helped cooking a huge feast on Thanksgiving. She taught me EXACTLY how u are by explaining & demonstrating even down to how to pat the mix to make sure it's moist enough, & watching the cracks to make sure it's done. All those things are crucial to know. This is why I can make my mother's wonderful dressing but I think it's great u are doing it like this so that others who weren't so lucky to learn from family can make it themselves. Tk u for bringing back those wonderful memories with my mom, I miss her so much! She was the BEST southern cook I've ever known.

Just by watching this video, I notice that I make my dressing the same way. But when I make pork chops and dressing I always put bulk mild sausage and a can of cream of mushroom in the mix instead of boiled chicken and a can of cream of chicken. I use the stand mixer to mix it all. Taste pretty good together. Thanks for sharing this recipe. It's the best one out there.

Love watching you do this, I make my dressing very similar.
    1. I just started adding cream of chicken soup to my dressing a couple of years ago, and it's a game changer, totally takes the flavor up a notch.
    2. My dressing is hella wet! I'm so glad to see someone else does it this way. And I do that pat thing too, but I do it with my hand.
    3. I never sauté my veggies and you are so right, by the time the dressing is done, they are soft and almost disintegrate into dressing.
    4. I make a chicken stock also and I know it's good when it gets all jellied like that. I save the fat to sauté the trinity veggies and make my gravy.
    5. I have heard about adding boiled eggs, but I have never tried it. I would have to make a small pan for myself and see how it taste. My family would lose their mind if I change the dressing recipe.
    6. My secret ingredient? I add a pack of breakfast sausage. I brown it and make sure it's crumbled up as fine as I can get it. You don't taste it in the dressing, it just give it a different flavor profile.

I made your chicken pot pie today. I used a rotisserie chicken we had 3/4 leftovers. Carrots, potatoes, green beans and mushrooms. The gravy was wonderful and it made 2 full pies. 1 for the freezer

I wanna do this recipe so bad! I’m too darn pregnant and tired from chasing children so I’ll have to cut some corners but this reminds me of how we use to make dressings!
Where are two from? Your accent reminds me of my Mississippi family!

My mama was a wonderful cook, but she said she learned so much once my sister and I took home ec. In highschool. We would come home and tell her what we learned whether it was cooking or sewing. I remember teaching her how to ease in sleeves. Yea, I never again had a top with ugly sleeves.

I used to put boiled egg in my dressing till my Italian grandmother bought me that by putting the eggs in raw it keeps the dressing moist . Any it really does so I just use them raw .

It’s not up to others to be telling you how to fix your holiday meal.
You fix it like you want. Your showing others how you do your meal not what others have to do.
    Golly gee.
I’m doing Cornish game hens since there is two of us.
Mashed potatoes and homemade gravy, stove top dressing, broccoli with cheese sauce and lime green jello salad 1 hour homemade rolls got recipe from one of the channels I am subscribed to who is doing a collaboration. Then home made
    No bake pumpkin cheesecake.
I’ve made the kind you cook that’s delicious too.
And breakfast is homemade coffee cake in a bunt pan with icing drizzled on top.
Same for Christmas except a ham in silver foil wrapping from Aldi’s. Their Hams are delicious.
Hope you and Chris have a blessed thanksgiving.

Tammy I made your giblet gravy last year where you added part of your raw dressing to the gravy. That gravy would have made an old shoe taste good. Best gravy I have ever had. Thanks
