  • In this video I do cut and etch testing on three different multi-process welders ranging in price from $450 to over $2,000. I test them at 1/8", 3/16", 1/4" and 3/8". I test auto synergic modes and manual settings to see what each welder can do.
    The three welders used are:
    Hitbox Synergic MIG Pro 200
    Yeswelder Firstess MP200
    Fronius Transsteel 2200
    I plan do to more testing and comparisons with these three welders, but in this video I focus on cutting and etching various thicknesses welded with each machine.
    As requested by several viewers, I have set up a Patreon account. Any support is appreciated, but absolutely not required.

    Another great production! Quick question - is that hot rolled steel? If so, it would be interesting to see the difference with cold rolled or with the mill scale removed.

      @bigtb1717  2 роки тому +1

      Some was hot rolled, some cold. I actually did remove the mill-scale. It's hard to tell in the video because I didn't completely strip the pieces, but I did remove the mill scale from the weld bead area of all pieces before welding. I gave myself enough room for the beads to fit on the clean, bare metal of both pieces of each T joint. I made sure I didn't just polish the mill-scale (sometimes that stuff is tenacious) but definitely removed it.

    I have the HBM2280 like the hitbox and it seems to be a great welder with good power for thin and thick metal and aluminum. Try them on aluminum. My HBM2280 has 4 wire sizes the newer ones only have 3. So far so good. Have used stick and tig also that works pretty good. See if you can get a HBM2280 to test. You could also adjust the inductance to adjust the spatter. Great comparison job. I like your video.

    I have run many beads with all my welders. As you may know I have an Esab 215 a Fronius 180 A Fronius 2200 and a HTP 220 . Over all on straight mig either 75/25 90/10 or fluxcore the Fronius 2200 is by far the best, I don't know how to explain it but after time the ease of use and prefromance is just so much smoother. I do like my HTP as it has pulse mig which is nice for sure but the arc is not quite as smooth as the Fronius. I use the Htp for pulse alu inum which it does very well. On straight mig aluminum its hard to tell the difference between the HTP and the Fronius 2200 . I use my Esab 215 for .30 mig which it is really designed for..I don't think any of the welders you tried here could run dual shield flux core as well as the Fronius 2200. The Hitbox And Yeswelder and not in the same park as the Fronius and the HTP OR A Miller 255 etc. The HTP Is probably the best med cost machine for pulse mig steel or aluminum etc. To get pulse mig in the Fronius line you have have 3 phase power and $6000. To spend. The HTP beats it there, but again there is no comparison as if you had both machines the Fronius would be the one, but twice the price.
    I just can't justify those cheap Chinese machines but many don't have the funs to buy others. This was a great review a d as unbiased as you can get. You did a great job, keep it up, I am waiting for further in depth reviews.

    Thank you for the fantastic review!! I impulse bought the Fronius Transsteel 2200 about 2 years ago. You have accurately described it in this video, very nice machine, the production quality and performance is top notch, it even looks beautiful, but I really despise the proprietary TIG torch. I will NOT buy their TIG torch for $450. Ck Worldwide makes a Fronius adapter (don’t know if that works with the Transsteel tho) but then you’ll have to use it as scratch start tig and no way to vary the amperage. This machine, like most entry level multiprocess machines can do all three processes, but not well. It only does MIG well, it’s a MIG machine with stick and TIG are an afterthought. Stick is lacking 6010, and TIG is lacking AC, HF, and foot control (Fronius doesn’t make foot pedal for it) and the TIG torch cost the equivalent price of a decent Everlast or PrimeWeld TIG machine with included accessories. Knowing what I know now, I wouldn’t buy that machine again since I am not actually interested in MIG, regardless of how superior MIG is in that machine.

    • @bigtb1717
      @bigtb1717  2 роки тому +1

      Thanks. Yeah, I bought it because I primarily wanted a good MIG machine. I agree about the TIG torch. I'm no fan of the proprietary torch connector and their torch is stupid overpriced. I ended up ordering the package that included it for only a hundred dollars or so extra on sale from my local place, just so I'd have it for videos. I wouldn't purchase it separately. You could get a Klutch ST201iDV for the same price and that machine has high frequency start and comes with a foot pedal.

      Yeah, I saw your video on the Klutch, nice little machine and great video too. But I have a dedicated TIG machine tho, I just wanted to try the TIG on the Fronius, also, I'm not in the US, so getting that Klutch machine would be difficult if I wanted to. I appreciate all your efforts and the well put together welding videos :).

    From Nick Johns Testing on the MP200 yeswelder. Done a few more tests and found alarming the outputs are live even when a process isn't selected (at main menu).. I wanted to add to my previous post but could only do 1 photo at a time.. So new post.. Basically the TIG and MMA is the same 50A short circuit scenario.. Once an arc is going it'll regulate to the set value, in my case 20A.. Yesterday/previous post I wasn't sure.. Douglas confirmed..
    I'm beginning to think the fancy screen and menus is a gimmick, it has limited control over the power supplies, probably set current and on/off.. Bit disappointed tbh but!! It is what it is, I got a unit for £500 that'll do all these processes, certainly not perfectly but since it's aimed at the beginner, once that beginner gets to grips with the MP200 quirks, they'll be damn good at welding on descent kit...
    I'm not unhappy with my MP200, just disappointed with YesWelder's development of it.. I'm not surprised it's firmware can't be updated, literally no point. The processor has no control over the power supply...

    • @bigtb1717
      @bigtb1717  2 роки тому +1

      I'm well past "beginning to think," lol. I'm fully convinced that the fancy screen and menus are a gimmick. The wire feed option after changing wire makes the wire live, just like pulling the trigger on the gun; the burn back setting doesn't do anything from what I could tell; and the 70xx mode and 60xx modes didn't seem to affect 6010 performance at all. It's the most basic version of every process, dressed up with a color screen. I suppose that's fine. But it's not how they marketed it.

      Thank you for bringing this up, staying the fuck away from yeswelder. Hit box on the other hand , solid . My tig 200P has been flawless , pulse tig awesome tig torch, all the settings work mint and it’s got lots. Up and down slope, pre and post flow, variable pulse settings, hot start arc force etc for stick welding. 2t and 4t ofc. Very solid welder burned tons of rods , nonstop and pounds of tig filler. No AC but it’s DC arc is beautifully stable and reliable - at the same time very forgiving. I have a herocut cut 50 which is arguably the best plasma cutter , and now I’m looking at getting the hitbox synmig200. One thing ; the euro tweco style mig gun connection on the hitbox and shitwelder is the absolute best connection for mig. Period. Not to mention - you can weld alum no problem without a bulky heavy spool gat that costs almost as much as the welder in Canada. Hitbox and herocut are enough to get my dick hard , but fronious would just make me jizz in my pants nonstop every time I look at it not To mention use it . I’ll contract hiv and smoke a 8 ball of fentanyl when I get my ass into a proper plant and buy my first fronious fuck it

    The one you left out is the Hobart MP 200. I was really thinking of buying the Yeswelder but Chinese business ethics are demoralizing. Its just like a neverending chain of sadness. The Hobart is made in China but being a US company they do their own QC which is kinda required if you are buying anything from there. And at $1300-$1400, I think it would be a more direct competitor.

      @bigtb1717  2 роки тому

      That welder is definitely on my radar. I hope to review it at some point. I agree though. It is a more direct competitor and almost certainly a far better welder than the Yeswelder, just without the plasma cutting option.

    • @robertmorrison107
      @robertmorrison107 2 роки тому

      @@bigtb1717 Agreed, the problem or draw with the Yeswelder is....well, if you are just starting at $700 which it usually is, even if you hate every mode on it, you still have a plasma cutter. I don't want to spend $700 for a plasma cutter but....it won't end up a paperweight even if you hate it.

      I haven't looked into that particular machine. Many machines are the same with different names printed on them, or a very similar design with a slightly different look and/or different interface. But without comparing them, it's tough to say for sure which ones are the same as which others, unless they are obviously identical from the pictures and ads. Though, without looking inside, it's tough to say for sure, even then. It could be the same case with a different board or something.

      something has definitely gone wrong with the test of the Fronius in the short-circuit arc. I am selling Fronius in Belgium and I can assure you that the settings were totally wrong. from my experience I can tell you that the settings were not right and that welding was done in the half open arc, that is the cause of the spatter. never seen a Fronius weld so badly!!

    @Bigtb1717 Hey 👋 I have a YesWelder MIG 250 PRO that I recently bought... It does NOT meet the advertised output but there is a guy that has a video here... ua-cam.com/video/kHcdz8UpXbs/v-deo.html that shows both the 205 and the MIG 250 putting out the exact advertised amperage. 😐 I don't know how he is getting the correct readings because my testing shows my YesWelder 250 amp putting out only about 180 amps... I don't know if his videos are doctored or what is going on... Please share your thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated!! I know you personally tested the 205 and it did not output as advertised.... Thanks!!!!

    • @bigtb1717
      @bigtb1717  2 роки тому

      I watched his video. A couple things come to mind. First, it's very possible there is sample variation. So it's possible his machines put out the rated amperage.
      However, the second though makes me believe this is not the case. Part of his methodology I think is likely to lead to misleading results. He had his meter set to "min/max." Even though he mentioned shutting off "hot start," welding current is still a very noisy signal. The 240-250 amps he saw may been peaks lasting microseconds, while the overall average output may have been 180 amps. He never left the meter to show real time readings, he only did Min/Max mode readings. So signal noise or even a legitimate brief spike may have pushed the "max" number up, even if the average, real-world output may have been far lower. And you can tell this is likely the case, because the number seems to start lower, then jump a bit when it reads a spike, then jump a bit more from another spike.
      I wasn't there, so I can't say he's wrong. All I can say is that I've tested many welders with many different amperage testers, including a multi-thousand dollar oscilloscope. And I don't believe a Min/Max mode on a clamp meter is going to give a very realistic output measurement.

      Do I need a special liner to run aluminum with mine? And will it run .52 and 1/16 fluxcore wire?

    • @bigtb1717
      @bigtb1717  2 роки тому +1

      From what I read, their liners will work with steel or aluminum wire, but they say if you use a liner for aluminum, you should ONLY use it for aluminum. Basically, don't use one liner for both. They do offer two different types of liners. One is around $10-$12, the other is like $50, but I can't remember what the difference was.
      It took some researching on the Bakers Gas website to find and figure out all the accessories and such. I actually ordered some knurled rollers for flux core at the same time I ordered the welder, but apparently they are back ordered. I also ordered a consumable kit and it turns out the welder already comes with bags of 0.030" and 0.035" contact tips. So I'm set on contact tips for a LONG time, lol.

    • @bigtb1717
      @bigtb1717  2 роки тому +1

      As for flux core, I doubt it would run anything over 0.045" flux core very well. I suppose it's possible, but it might be pushing it. Plus, I doubt that size of flux core would be easy to find in 8" spools.
      They do sell rollers that size for aluminum, I'm pretty sure. Just be aware that you will need a different liner, liner clamp piece, rollers and contact tip to use wire that size.
