  • Hello today I am showing you how to remove and replace the center support bearing on a BMW 135i will be pretty much the same for other e90, e93, e92 , e82. I did it without removing the whole driveshaft which might make it easier. But its pretty simple either way.

    Do you have link to the Center Support Bearing?

    I plan on doing this in the morning , is the pipe you used to tap the bearing on the pipe from the 3 ton jacks lol? I'm curious because eI plane on using that .

    I hate doing this job on my e30. Especially since I have to work around my exhaust

    I have a bad clunk and vibration when accelerating from a stop. I’m positive it’s a center support bearing. I noticed you didn’t install heat shields ? Do you think it will be prone to rust if I do the same?

    • @menjicar
      @menjicar  2 роки тому +2

      I didn’t install the heat shield in the video because I wasn’t sure if I had aligned the drive shafts properly. So incase I needed to remove the driveshaft again it would be a little easier. But I installed it back on after driving the car around and making sure it was good. I would recommend putting the heat shields back on if you take them off.

    Did you notice a slight clunking when going over bumps? Or when you moved your rear wheel back and fourth did it clunk?

    • @menjicar
      @menjicar  2 роки тому +2

      I would hear it sometimes over bumps but mainly heard it when accelerating from a stop. At first it started as a slight vibration and then over time it got worse until you could hear it start rubbing.

      @@menjicar ok cool thanks for your feedback man. Just booked for a mechanic got all my parts, flex disk and center support kit just worried it might end up being my ujoints which I heard wasn't really common. Thanks tho!

    Biggest take I got from this is that whoever fitted that other centre support bearing put it in the wrong way up 🤣 The larger part of the bearing should be up in the tunnel, kinda explains why the guibo was knackered too.

    Great video!!! Just wanted to confirm. So from a dead stop and you accelerate, you hear a clunking noise basically in the center of car, like where the arm rest is or rear floor area?
    This really helped if it's the same situation which pretty positive it is. Thanks again.

    • @menjicar
      @menjicar  Рік тому +1

      Yes you are correct. Most obvious would be from a stop and accelerating.

      @@menjicar what do you think is better? I can buy a used drive shaft with only 35k miles on it in great condition and guibos on it. Or the cheaper route of course, just replacing the center bearing? Is taking the exhaust off working on ground the worse part of it all? Thanks again.

    • @menjicar
      @menjicar  Рік тому

      @@michaeljo281 I believe the cheaper route that way you know it’s new. And if you order in FCP and it goes bad again you replace the part for free

    When I accelerate Im hearing a humming noise, no clunking. The harder I accelerate in higher gears more louder. Cruising is fine. Would you say bearing, guibo or both?

    Hie what happens if you dont mark your driveshaft?

    • @menjicar
      @menjicar  2 роки тому +2

      The driveshaft will be unbalanced and it can cause vibrations. Because each side has some weights from the factory and is balanced together.

  • @zakeeking78

    Also note the bigger portion of the bearing is facing the bottom

    Man I bought the tool from Harbor freight but mine won’t come out 😭 It’s actually hurting my drive shaft instead of taking out the bearing . I’m thinking of buying a blow torch and hopefully it expands. I don’t have the tool to remove the end of the drive shaft connected to the rear diff

      @@menjicar I haven’t gone under the car yet but I know %99 it has to be the CSB & Guibo haha. I drove the car like this for 4-6 months until I found your video so I know exactly how it sounds and feels haha. Tbh I bought a used guibo and cheap eBay CSB so I’m thinking it’s probably that. Hopefully it didn’t break prematurely due to a bad or unbalanced drive shaft

    You need to mark the splines on driveshaft when removing it not just the driveshaft itself.
