UPDATE: Hey DJ's, I purchased another JBL EON 1 MK2 and so far it's amazing. I admit the first one I had was a dud in every way possible, but the second I got had zero issues and I'm very pleased with it. Check out the video here: ua-cam.com/video/qXJjsePppsc/v-deo.html
I just brought one 2 weeks ago and everything worked out okay. I used it at a Barn for an 80th Bday as a fill speaker in the back with my ZLX15P up front and I was blown away by the sound. I was doubting my purchase at 1st but I'm keeping mine and hopefully buying another soon. Great speaker for Ceremony, cocktail, and to use as a filler with my main setup.
One big downside is you have to run a soundboard in-line to have stereo. You can’t pair 2 via Bluetooth for stereo unlike the Bose or the Ev evolve series
Good review - I have a new Eon 1 - 3 days old and it also will not turn on! Taking it back today and we’ll see why the store says, but super frustrating when I haven’t even been able to use it yet!
New Sub. Great video. I recently bough my first JBL speaker PRX ONE. I sent it back the same week. I bought it for ceremonies, but the app is so slow, glitchy, and laggy. I called JBL and the tech I spoke with noticed the same thing. I know it's a newer product, but you can't rush products out. I bought it so I could mic check at the alter, without needing to touch the speaker. I'm going to stick with my traditional two way tops and a mixer.
Thanks for the sub! I've been really curios about the PRX one, but this gave me a sour taste for spending that kind of money on it. How did the PRX ONE sound? It has great specs which is what sparked my curiosity.
@@Ilovedjcdub No problem. Ok, to keep this short. If you plugging directing in or running the Bluetooth, but controlling it from the physical speaker it sound good. Just like you bought it for the battery, I bought it for the App. The rep I spoke with said they are aware of the app issue. After I had my problem, I did some digging. I came across a forum where someone else was complaining about the EQ section within the app. I post was made in Oct, I feel if should have been fixed by now. It's a 1,500 dollar speakers. Nothing is perfect, but they're promoting the app like it is. I run Yamaha DZR 15 tops, I'm getting the DXR 10 MK2 and a small analog mixer for my ceremonies.
Battery are disposable but that does suck out the box. It’s an ok speaker for me I bought two and it was nice for small parties and announcements. The prx has the output but I just wasn’t ready to drop 3k cause I wasn’t onboard with the column speakers but after using the eon mk2 on nye party I’m in. I added a subwoofer at the small venue in NJ and it was knocking dust off the ceiling and sounded very balanced.
The batteries are replaceable? That's interesting... I may have give it another try down the road, but yeah, JBL has to clean up the small problems first. My thought process was this, buy one MKII and if it worked well I would've bought 3 more to have a total of 4. The plan was to have two for ceremony and two for cocktail.
@@Ilovedjcdub yeah that would be a great use for the systems my only real gripe was the speakers are unnecessarily heavy and large they could be easily 30 percent smaller
@@Ilovedjcdub also yes you can replace the battery it’s sold as a column and they even sell the external charger for them so you can do longer events and not worry about it dying but I just didn’t a reason to do that much investing in battery power cause events just arm gonna be that long for that kinda system where I wouldn’t have power.
@@DJLEOdamadprofessor The Bose L1 Pro 16's are pretty awesome. They get LOUD! Two of them can be use to cover a wedding reception of 150-300 no problem and they are good for both indoor/outdoor. The are small, but pack a nice punch. If you get a chance to listen to them you'll be impressed.
I've heard way too many negative things about JBL portable line array speakers to trust buying one! I've got a pair of Maui 5 GOs and whilst I know that the EON One MK2 leaves them in the dust, I trust their reliability and have a second one for more volume. Even lugging two of them to an event is no issue because they're so compact and lightweight as well as being very easy to transport in their cases.
I always wish the Maui 5 Go's were just a little louder. They look gorgeous and I REALLY like them, but it didn't work out for me from a business perspective because I needed more volume without using an external mixer.
@@Ilovedjcdub LD Systems really need to release a Maui 5 GO II with increased SPL, at least 6 high and mid drivers, 10 inch sub and mixer with at least 2 mic inputs and at least a reverb, if not extra eq and dynamics. If JBL could pull it off with the Eon One Mark 2 then LD Systems can also do it! EV should also bring back a scaled back battery powered Evolve 30M to compete in the market. If EV were to do that, I'd soon replace my Maui 5 GOs with them, despite the fact that I really like the Mauis.
Thank you for posting this video, I have to make up my mind between Bose L1 8 or JBL eon one mk2. Small gigs lining up for me... must decide what to get. Highly informative. cheers,
They are both great sounding systems with plenty of power, but I think it comes down to what you’re gonna need it for. The JBL has the battery built-in where the BOSE is going to need to bring a battery supply.
Not sure at max volume, but as loud as I play it I've exceeded their claim for 6 hours of playing time. I charge every 3 weddings after covering ceremony and cocktail hours and the battery isn't depleted, but I don't want to take chances with it at a wedding.
The columns for together snug, so I feel like over time it could get damaged. I curious for those who've had it a couple months to see if it stands the test of time.
UPDATE: The new one I got is much different from the one I had in this video. It current one I owns is a lot smoother. I think this original one was a dud all around.
I've got one. I use it with my other 2 Prx One. It sounds good and is nice for ceremonies and cocktail hours, and as a second use. It's nice for a small room and I like that you can stack two batteries inline and have 10+ hours. It's definitely the little brother to the Prx One, but it punches above it's weight. It still sounds like a 10" sub, but it's nice filling sound. Grab a little extra bass sound with the subsynth EQ. You describe using it for ceremonies exactly the way I use it. I'm sorry yours wasn't working out of the box. But, if you get past that, then you will find it's a great speaker for that use case. Cheers.
Can you purchase a second battery (once you get one that works)? I use the same craftsman's tool box for cables etc. Thanks for the video. I didn't see your video on the Ego Nexus, Escape, please me know if I missed it or post the link once you have completed it.
Yes you can purchase another battery although I wish I would have known this at the time. I've since purchased another entire unit and did a part 2 of this video with a another MK2. I love it so far. I have a video in the works about the craftsman tool boxes. They are perfect for DJ's for a lot of reasons. The Ego Nexus & Escape is currently in the works and should be ready for release very soon.
I've had the JBL Eon One Mk2 as well. I've had it for 3 months and my mine is now doing the exact same thing. I took it to Guitar Center and the Demo model at the store is also doing the same thing. We even tried mixing and matching parts and the fact is it seems like the batteries just do not hold charge. Also, I'm just outside the 45 day return window so Guitar Center isn't providing an exchange or return. I'm very unsatisfied as well. Clearly this is a design flaw and manufacturer defect. We'll see what JBL says.
Yup. A friend of mine just bought the same unit and had the exact same experience. It might be our batch but either way it sucks and we have no recourse.
Mine is running fine. You're the first that has mentioned this issue on the web. With batteries there's always a chance at getting a bad apple. I know the Bose S1Pro had a lot of battery issues. I would try getting another unit, its worth it! How does it sound compared to the Bose Pro16? I know the Pro 16 is louder.
Yeah, I think I was unlucky with the initial purchase, but the new one I just got is working out well and they are overall good units (when they work).
WTF, this 12 min watch-this-before-buy "review" is just about that you got one defective piece that can be replaced under the warranty? I don't understand that :(
These speakers arriving DOA was a thing unfortunately and as a consumer it's important to share this information. If I didn't have to wait forever for this thing to arrive maybe it might not have been a big deal, but the timing, the anticipation, and disappointment - not to mention reliability is factors one needs to weight before investing in these types of units. I've since bought another one and love it, but I put it through "HOURS" of testing before using it at an actual event because of my experience with the first one.
I ended up giving them another try and buying a new one. I love it so far. It was really bad timing on with the first one - wasn't happy. Here's my video for the new one: ua-cam.com/video/qXJjsePppsc/v-deo.html
Honestly this is why I don’t trust any battery powered speakers or those digital consoles, I prefer having a rechargeable inverter that can handle at least 2 hours and an analog console to make the eq and important stuff instant to change. I have two JBL EON ONEs and an analog console (Soundcraft signature 12) and it’s worked wonderfully on every event I had with less than 100 people.
