I like the result. I have the smaller set but haven't yet. Now I have an idea of what I can do. Thank you for sharing.
Glad it was helpful
Beautiful colouring Karen! I had to hold my breath when I saw you going over the coloured parts, but luckily it did not affect the pencils, which I was not aware of, so thank you so much for this tip. Love how it turned out, even the little scratch on the side disappeared! Excellent! 💜💙💚💛🧡
Thank you so much!
I have the metallic set and they are really nice.
Thanks for sharing 😊
I found that the best way to use gelatos for backgrounds in my artwork is to scribble them onto a palette (mine is a white cutting board from the dollar store that has a bit of texture), then pick up color with a damp brush. I have the two Iridescents sets, they're beautiful! For regular colors, find the cheapest kids set of gel crayons (Hippies from Amazon, 48 for under $10) They act exactly like the more expensive sets. Someone on UA-cam did a comparison of gel crayons and found they all worked the same regardless of price. I agree. But Faber Castell has unique and beautiful colors. If you apply them directly to the paper, It's hard to blend away the lines. Have fun, they're a great medium to use. And I found that you can add a little colored pencil on top after they are dry.
Auto correct changed the gel crayon name from Hipiddo to Hippies.
Hi Karen, as always your pictures and colors are beautiful. Really laughed at the sponge part,😅
You can cut small pieces off with the spatula, put them in warm water in a spray bottle and make a pretty spray.
Hi Karen, i had all of the sets of these Gelatos and i absolutely Love these, and i could tell you more you will worked with more you will wan't to use these, you do not had the right way to use the sponge but with times you will found how to use these fom to avoid your Gelatos tay on these and apply on your paper, anyway it's like every new supplies practicing is the key for being very confident and achieved great result, love all of these sets. Thank You for the great Demo, can't wait seen you coloring a page with these, that would of be very fun to watch! Enjoyed your new supplies and your Tim Holtz Brushes are Awesome! they added some at Ebay specially for that kind of paste and i have bought these and love to worked with!
Thank you
I love my Gelatos. I use them dry with my finger or with sponge brushes. I have yet to try them wet. I hope you enjoy them.
Thank you 😊
May I ask what type of sponge drushes do you use?
@@ZucchiniKitty Of course. Very happy to help. I use the sponge brushes that are used for eye makeup. The same kind I have seen you use in the past for Applying distressed ink. The ones that oval shaped with small handle. Also very small well padded eye shadow brushes for small spaces.
You make the magic work al the time, beautiful work, love how you used the gelatos, thank you for another great video.
Thanks so much 😊
These look so much fun. Wet or dry. Karen Valentine uses them in several videos.
Thank you
Love the rose colors on your test page. Did you do a video of them by chance for color combo?
ua-cam.com/video/d_aQ1KH6vD4/v-deo.html
Hi Karen, another super helpful video. I've had a few of these for a number of years, but don't used them. Maybe I'll look them out and give them a go. I'm always looking for something for backgrounds as I don't get on with DI. Thanks
Thank you
Thanks for doing this video I have been wondering about these so this helps out tremendously! Thank you!
Thanks for watching
I luv this!! I super want to get these. It came out so beautifully. I just love your backgrounds.
Thank you so much!
This turned out nice. I bought some gelatos with Christmas money. It was interesting seeing how you tested them.
Thank you!
Absolutely georgeous, thank you for this video, I am going to give it a try
Thank you Have fun!
Karen if you use a baby wipe and take the color straight from the tube and then apply it to your page it gives a smooth texture. Also you can mix it with on a palette like you do watercolors and then apply it. It work best with water. I have all of these and love them. Take care🤗🤗🤗🤩🤩🤩
Thank you! 😊
What about the iridescent ones, do you have those? Just wondering if I put them on a palette and use them with my water brush, will it lose that shimmery look?
Where did you get that book it looks amazing! Your coloring is gorgeous
Looks lovely. I don’t like the stiff stipple brushes with gelatos. Good idea for fixing up the scratch marks.
What tools do you use?
So far I mostly use them wet but I find the blending brushes easier in a circular motion. I have only practiced on scrap paper so far to get the feel.
The gelatos wash out with soap and water love them great for backgrounds. You are going to like them a lot. I do great for antiquing your pages .
Good to know, thank you
I really enjoyed watching you use them in your colouring books. I also have them and I’ve only ever used them in my art Journalling book. It was nice to see both mediums cross over. I agree as well I hate the crumbling pieces. I love the distress inks and hope to use them in my colour books soon. Thanks for another great tutorial. 👍🏻💖🎨🖌📚
Thank you
Thank you so much. I will keep practicing with the distress inks!!! 🥰
Hi Karen, Lovely picture. I have a couple of suggestions. If you cut the bristles shorter on the 3 set of brushes it may make them more manageable. I also tried using a eye shadow wand with a palatte to apply the Gelato and it worked beautifully. Thanx for a great video
Thank you so much for your tips, take care Robin 🥰
The picture looks lovely Karen . The gelatos look like they are very versatile for many art projects and the fact you can blend the colours together is a bonus, plus they don’t appear to affect the oily crayons. Thanks for showing this product. 🇬🇧🦋🐇🦩
Thanks for watching
Hi Karen🌹 always a pleasure watching you all the time.🙋🏻♀️
Thanks so much
Enjoy can't wait to see what you do with them.
Thank you
Hi Karin, do they dry? If they do, better than oil pastel. Merry Christmas, all the best!!
I got Huggies baby wipes plastic holders to use as storage for my tubes! Works nice!
Baby wipes work good for these.
Awesome idea
@@The_Lion_And_The_Lamb Thanks
@@ZucchiniKitty No problem! It’s been fun watching you go through a similar process I went through when I got them. Except you were braver and used them on a beautiful picture you colored. I wasn’t that brave. Looks nice though.
Your coloring is stunning! Do you have a link to that beautiful coloring book? Thank you for the review. I was wondering if these would smear in the coloring books.

Do your distress inks cover the pencil? You are a master with them, the distress inks! 🥰
It depends on the pencils being used, Prisma's have more wax so the distress ink glides over the pencils like a resist... if it does color the pencils wipe it off with a very damp towel... Other pencils with less wax or are oil base do not resist as much, but you can still use the distress inks as they are transparent ink... light coats will not effect the pencils, it might deepen the color a bit but you can always wipe some off these with a dry towel while the ink is still wet. Spraying with water then wiping it off also will remove the ink from the pencils (also the background) this can be a awesome look.... you really have to play around with your inks and pencils first before trying them out in your favorite book...
Hi Karen, I've been wondering about these for a while. Thanks for sharing them with all of us🙂
Thank you for watching 😊
If you are looking for a good storage solution for the gelatos amazon sells lipstick displays the gelatos fit in them perfectly.
Thank you! 😊
Gelatos are on my list! Still trying to figure out the logistics to get the distress inks you use. The only gelatos I can find are bright, primary colors 😒
1st: learn to color with my Prismacolors
2nd: learn to color with my Brutfuners
3rd: Get distress inks!
Thanks for watching 😊
Lol Karen 💖 when you tried the gelato the first time you reacted just like I did...I said, wow that’s creamy lol, I didn’t expect it to be so creamy but it was delightful...you sure found the right colors as this picture with the gelato is stunning absolutely gorgeous...It makes my eyes happy lol I know it’s silly but it’s just so pleasing to look at. Thank you so much for another gorgeous picture and wonderful video 💖💖.
Thank you so much Keni, so happy you could stop by. Yes they are creamy...lol Take care 💖💖
@@ZucchiniKitty You’re so welcome Karen, and it’s always my pleasure to stop by...take care dear Karen 💖💖
Looking forward to seeing how you use these- I have had them for a while but don't use them enough - my tips for you to experiment with - they can be used as a watercolour - just like neo2- I did try using them in a bottle as a spray but that was an epic fail - I like using them directly on books using heat from my finger or a babywipe to smear. Have fun
Thanks for the tips!
Karen can you send me a link to the Gift Set 1 you found. I have been unable to find it so far. 😊

@@ZucchiniKitty Thank you Karen! I don’t know why that never came up in a search for me. I ordered the chocolate and blueberry open stock from DB. Lots of duplicates in this set I already have so I don’t feel like I’m missing out anymore!😂
@@ArtbyKarenValentine Glad I could help... What colors would you recommend in the dark blue, dark deep mahogany, deep purple tones?
@@ZucchiniKitty because they are so sheer there aren’t many dark colors. Eggplant is a nice darker color. The name is very appropriate. Galaxy is deep purple. Very nice. Satellite is a nice dark blue. I don’t have anything that I would call Mahogany. I’ll looking forward to getting my chocolate. I bet you could mix that with a red and get a nice color.
@@ArtbyKarenValentine Thank you
I like using Gelatos dry the way you did and I saved a pic that I needed to tone down but didn't have much tooth left and the gelato went right over it and help me add shade to it. However, it does smear and need a fixative. My other page got the gelato on it, good thing it was a kitty and it is going to be gray ;)
Thank you for the tip
Enjoy those gelatos!! They work great like neo 2's an as well as like a distress crayon. So have fun your goodies your good at using Both those medium's. So happy for you ❤️❤️ can't wait to see all the New lovely Pictures you create with these little beauties 🥰🥰🥰
Thank you
Hi Karen 💖 Oh I want the brushes in a case lol they pop out and go back in I looked for them, can you please leave a link...💖💖

It would be helpful if you provide links to the products you buy and do videos on. Just a thought.....
Placed in the description box 😊
You can also press your crumb on the Fine palette with the spatula 😂
Your Coloring is always stunning. Did you do a video of these flowers for the colored pencils? I wanted to let you know Neocolor II are $117 on Amazon right now. Mine are supposed to be delivered today. Yay!
Thank you, yes the flowers where colored with the Brutfuner pencils: ua-cam.com/video/d_aQ1KH6vD4/v-deo.html
Where did you purchase that collection
Amazon
Karen, I almost had heart failure when you brought out the beautiful pic to try on! But like always, it came out great! 😂💖
Thank you
Thank you Karen for this video. I have also been wondering what they like. I have heard people take a wet brush and take the color directly off the Gelato to lay it in the paper. Will you please show us when you use it in one of your coloring tutorials?
i dont mean to be offtopic but does anyone know of a way to log back into an instagram account?
I somehow lost the account password. I would appreciate any tips you can offer me!
@Grant Jesus Instablaster :)
@Leonel Judah I really appreciate your reply. I got to the site on google and im in the hacking process atm.
Seems to take a while so I will get back to you later with my results.
@Leonel Judah it worked and I actually got access to my account again. I am so happy!
Thank you so much, you saved my account!
@Grant Jesus Happy to help xD
This is gorgeous!
Thank you so much 😀
I think the ‘sponges’ need to be damp, or have water on them, to successfully move the gelatos. These are a nice medium. They are fun to experiment with!
Thanks for the tips
It turned out beautiful, I would be annoyed with the crumbles also. I’m sure that you will perfect the process!
Thank you
Hi Karen..thanks for the video. Will distressed inks go over the colored pencils like the gelatos did or do they change the pencil? I got distressed ink but haven’t used them yet..backgrounds still intimidate me🤣 Beautiful floral ring. 😃
Distress ink is transparent and will not change the pencils if they are wax, I would test them out before covering you work. I have not had any problems but I have used these inks for a very long time.
@@ZucchiniKitty thank you😃
This is a fun product. I typically use direct placement of product to paper and smudge technique for backgrounds or large spaces. But my favorite is placing color on a palette and lifting color with a water brush to add color in coloring books and stamp projects.
Thank you for the tips
You are brave, good review
Thank you 🤗
Enjoy your new tools!💜
Thank you
I don't know where they get strawberry from lol
😊
Thank You For Sharing! I Wanted To Get Them, Hence The Research. Your Video Is Great!

I have an unused makeup brush just like that.

Thanks for subbing! 😊
I see you jumped on the 🚂. 🤣🤣Enjoy. I’m sure you will do amazing. Can wait to see what you do with them.
Thank you! 😊
yes i could not make the sponge of the brush work either. I just love them on mixed media. TFS
Thanks for watching!
J'aime ce produit. On peut faire de beaux effets et c'est plus facile à utiliser que les encres Distress, du moins à sec, on risque moins de se rater! Pour la spatule, je n'avais encore personne pour dire à quoi ça servait! Bises
Merci 😊
Love my gelato, I use them for accents, you can usually find them around this time of year in clearance at Michael's stores. I picked up a ton for a few bucks. P.s. Glad my cats not the only weirdo that like tape and plastic!😉
Thanks for sharing!!
These are mixed media items. They're known to be used on top of gesso oh, so that you can get to work ability. Have fun
Thank you
Oooooo i got the metallics and pastels from Michaels. They were $5 EACH ON SALE
Awesome
This is beautiful. You're supposed to add water to the sponge (damp, not wet) & spread the colors that way. It's the same thing as maskeup sponge.
Turned out nice! Can you color over them? Thanks
Thank you, yes
I was told to use baby wipes to spread them around & blend them & I’ve found they work well. The brush they come with is worthless lol cute handle though I agree.
Thank you
Aqua dolce.....dol' chay. You're welcome!
You're the best 🥰
I bought a set of the pastels when michaels had them on clearance, jury still out Don’t think they move that great but they do look nice
BTW love your picture so pretty what did you color the wreath with awesome

How do you find facebook market?
Me: Karen has a new video "perk" What's it on?
Karen: Gelatos
Also Me: I HAVE THOSE GELTAOS!!!! - Happy dance! Karen can show me how to use these and I don't need to go buy new stuff like I always do when she has another video ...I love my Graphitint, Ink Distress, and my Pan Pastels from her recommendations and tutorials. Something tells me I am going to learn to love my Gelatos a lot more as well.
I am so happy you have them... lol, I also love your comment 😁 Thanks for watching
U said exactly what I do lol 😆 🤣 I feel a new purchase looming 🤣
Thank you for your demo, but I won’t be buying any,I’d rather use chalk pastels and distress inks😊
Me too... on the distress ink... lol
Check out Art by Karen Valentine, she is using different brushes and they work much better. I had the same as you and purchased the other ones and it does make a big difference. To say that I have mastered gelatos like her, the answer is NO. Ut she is an inspiration same as you are my dear.
Thanks for the tip!
