I found a bedrock 607 for $50 on OfferUp the other week but the seller use an abrasive wheel to knock out the rust trying to make a quick bucks off the bedrock plane. I had the unfortunate time to flatten the sole of the plane.
Thank you sir, very interesting I need a 603 round side frog and some older laterals levers I'll hit you up on the bookface. I found the two line bedrock cap I need for my 604 homage. ✌️😏
That’s a good idea. Might have to see if I can find one. The challenge is getting enough leverage on a stuck screw with a chewed up slot. Wish me luck!
To me , moving the frog forward introduces a “ cantilever “ with the blade / rear of mouth on the sole? Moving frog back to open the mouth means cutter is not fully contacting the frog?
It’s not a huge adjustment - it’s quite small relative to the size of the mouth but it can have a big impact. The frog is still fully supported by the sole, especially on a Bedrock - there’s no cantilever thing going on there. And the blade is still fully supported by the frog
OOPS! I erroneously stated that KK series planes were made by Sargent. They were manufactured by Ohio, NOT Sargent. Doh!
Great info MJ thanks! I’m starting resto this weekend on my 605 1/2 Type 5/6, may need to see you for a tall knob. -Howard
We can make that happen. Easy peasy
Awesome video as usual. The patten info was the best part for me. 👍👍
Very instructive video! Thanks so much.
thanks for the two bedrock videos. i found a really nice 605 type 4 at a flea market in great "user" condition
You’re doing great with these Michael…thank you for the education!
Thanks Marshall! Y’all keep watching em and I’ll keep making em!
Great video M.J. , these are great references for a guy like me who doesn't have all those fancy books .
Thanks for watching, Bud!

Nice info. Those reprint catalogs look handy!
Last time I was this early, this channel was just created.

8:45 Have you tried an S bend or right angle screwdriver? The ones with a flat on one end, and philips on the other? That might fit back there.

👍👍great job . Keep up the great work buddy
Thanks Derek - you’re my OG supporter!
I love the content!!
$2.90 in 1900 is roughly $100 in 2023. Interesting that what was probably the top of the line hand plane in the world at the time was only $100.
The price difference between the Bedrocks and the Baileys was a lot less than I would have thought
$10 a week wages for working man 1905. If skilled working man today is $200 a day, then that’s $300 equivalent for the plane. That’s about right
Say…. That twisted lateral adjustment lever was pretty sexy! 😮😊
Know anyone who has a spare K8 frog?
@@justplanefun Nope…..I don’t keep the right company I guess….😢
