I recently had a bit of a oops moment and caused some damage to my roof. After doing some research and getting quotes I decided rather than relying on a patch job or replacing with the same materials from the factory - It was worth the travel time and cost to head down to Prescott and see the guys at AZ RV Roof. Awesome shop, folks and product. Just got home from with the trailer and the new roof. Highly recommend the product!
Flex Armor is amazing stuff. We put it on our Solaire trailer when it was new and a year later had a major hail storm that totalled our Sequoia but did no damage to the trailer roof. I cannot recommend it highly enough!
I used Flex Armor in Denton, Tx when my then two year old Sunset Trail Reserve roof delaminated. Four years later I had my 15 year old deer lease trailer roofed by Flex Armor. When I recently took the deer lease camper to an RV repair shop for other work the technician said that's the best roof he had ever seen. I agree with him.
I had this lifetime roof installed 2 years ago. It is a worry free roof, everything is well sealed no need for annual seam sealing. I was also told it’s ok to clean the roof with a pressure washer. Excellent upgrade that will increase resale value of RV. Also the warranty is transferable.
We had our Winnebago Journey 36ft done in August at Travelers Destination RV in Pasco, WA. Great experience, and love the results. We can definitely notice the temperature and noise differences, but the peace of mind knowing that rain/snow are no longer an issue makes the cost ($9,000) well worth it.
9k for an RV roof seems ridiculous to me regardless of the durability. That's like 5 times the rate of a regular roof. It's probably more than 50 % the value of the RV itself.
I’d do it in a heartbeat…. If I had that much cash I could spare. From what I watched in this video, they did a seriously nice job and having that kind of peace of mind would be well worth the price.
Had my roof done about a year ago by the same shop and I couldn't be happier! I didn't have leaks and did this as a preventative action like you guys did. Best investment you can make for your RV.
You guys did a real great job for their everlasting commercial here on UA-cam!!! They should have given the roof and a couple grand for the exposure they're going to receive for years to come!!!!! This is a great commercial!!
Rolling Flex Seal with EternaBond RSW-2-50 RoofSeal Sealant Tape on edges and around the vents etc, is the best and not expensive. Can do it at home in an afternoon.....
Never regretting this decision go with FlexArmor. We did our 05 Wildcat. Now we have re-detail the RV so the roof doesn't outshine the rest of the RV! (shout out to Joel in Waxahachie, TX).
Seems great, But it wouldn't be for any trailer or rv. The weight alone is a major factor. then there is the skylight. The plastic of the skylight will dry out and crack, then what? from the looks of how this armor has covered the parameter of the skylight. if it had to be replaced, the time to cut it out would probably cost as much as an entire standard TPO or EPDM in materials. I see it now. cost of skylight 100, cost to replace it 1500.00. I'll also add that I noticed the flex armor covers the tops ( last couple inches ) of the vertical rails. While the flex armor will stop any water from intruding the roof, what about the vertical corners of the rear and front trim moldings. those still need maintenance. if for some reason water got past the molding, you'll have to remove and reseal. So you will need to cut the armor flex material from around the trim molding in order to remove it? So I'd guess that would void there warranty.
It's really shocking what the RV makers get away with. If you put a rubber roof on your new screen porch, it would come with up to a 40 year warranty. If it failed any time before that, you'd call the contractor out to fix it. And if he tried to dodge responsibility by saying you didn't get up on the roof each year to reseal it, you'd rightly threaten legal action. If that roof failed in the first 5 years and rotted out a major portion of the roof structure as well, you'd file a complaint with the state against his contractor's license and drag him into court. The contractor would either write you a big check, or skip town in the middle of the night, because any court would rule in your favor. Yet somehow when it comes to RVs, all that is right out the window. We _expect_ the roof to fail in a very short time. We get up on the roof faithfully each year in an attempt to compensate for the dreadful design and material choices of the manufacturer, and we take full responsibility when the inevitable failures occur. A note to the RV makers: I'm not an idiot, and I'm not alone. You're putting yourselves out of business. People know a con when they see one. Enjoy this time you're in where there are still a few suckers left willing to get robbed for your crap product. It won't last much longer.
I would take the trim around the cab to rv and check to see if you have broken or missing screws. We had a 2017 Coachmen 27qb thad had a problem from the factory. Very poor quality. 1:04 pm
I don’t know…….Sometimes spending more up front doesn’t seem like the budget option, but in the long run it is. That Flex Armor roof kind of looks like truck bed liner for your RV roof.
@@EatSeeRV @Garret Lewis... This is a Flexible application. bed liners are more ridged, and prone to cracking over time. This type of product touts 800% elongation, and 3500 tear strength. Great video, I’ve been thinking about doing this to my new to me RV. This type of roof redo looks like the best way to do it. I liked that they let you go up to see the condition of your roof. I’m always afraid they are going to tell you it’s in worse shape than it is.
Yes the communication here was great! They were very transparent about what was needed and why before and during. Definitely reach out if you end up redoing your roof!
We enjoy the roof material. Only issue is any changes void warranty. Add solar, replace on air antenna, or mushroom roof vents requires an appointment & several hours labor. And our original installer NO longer is contracted or "franchisee"! But we have great comfort knowing most seams are sealed. You still need to inspect ac gaskets to ensure leaves, stems, etc, do not squeeze between roof & gasket. Can still leak there.
Yes very good points. That's why it's a good idea to get all of that done when you replace your roof. Our installer here in Prescott uses a cool bolting system and rail system so you can add components to your RV in the future without needing to rebook and redo the roof in those areas!
Something I need to think about and save up for. thank you so much for this video. I wonder if they do payments month to month bases maybe? not sure...
Folks with good preparation a couple of weekends you can get some high quality high build silicone based sealant You can slap a magic marker against a can and call it flex armor and you won't even have to charge yourself thousands of dollars to do it
You can certainly DIY your roof but it won't be comparable to flex armors product. To each their own! Just sharing our experience with the product and why we liked it.
Kind of sad that it didn’t leave the factory with a better roof to begin with. Wouldn’t a fiberglass roof, kind of like a Forrest River be better to begin with?
Interesting product. Thanks for posting this video. Do you know how much weight this adds per square foot? Our travel trailer does not have a lot of cargo capacity. Also, do you know how this compares to Henry's Tropi-Cool for heat reduction?
We bought a used RV at a great deal, without shopping around, because we had just lost our other rv to a fire. We did inspect everything but the roof, well Lesson Learned because a cpl months later when it started to rain and leak in a cpl spots, that we discovered that the awning had been cut up and gorilla glued down in strips where the caulking should have been. Makes me shake my head in wonder.
Does adding new items to your roof such as solar panels or replacing items such as vents or sky lights void your lifetime warranty? These types of things require putting new screws in your roof.
Yes it would. That's why they suggest figuring out anything you want to add. They can also add systems so you can add things in the future without needing to drill holes. They'll go over everything with you
i've seen roofing material for flat roofs and was thinking of using that to repair my brothers rv also used in construction FRP fiberglass reinforced plastic that stuff if strong but 3/16" thick and applied 3 coats, does that mean 3/16x3= 0.56 of an inch or just 3/16 in total. anyway amazing job that was done 👍
Our class C has some water damage in the bed above the cab. I think much of the wood needs to be replaced :( Do these guys do that kind of work along with the flex armor roof?
This is great. I am doing a little DIY on my roof and would like to add that radius protection. Do you know where I can get the corner round? Thank you.
Pretty bad that you can spend well over $100,000 on a Motorhome and they cant even put a decent sealed roof on it. We have a 2009 Winnebago View with a fiberglass roof but we've had water leak in the slide.
I don’t trust anything would stand test on roof accept for one sheet thin metal cover the whole roof because not just the weather but highway driving all the shaking n rattling 😂
We need a new roof on our 2022 MLE22. While it should be covered by GD it is not. We are torn between a traditional rubber roof replacement or the Flex Armor. After a year and a half what would your decision be now? Flex Armor is about 3K more expensive than the tradition rubber roof. Thank you!
The $7,300 was the intial quote before they finished work. Some things got taken off the quote because it wasn't needed. They measure what they spray and it was less than what they thought at first! So $6,500 was the end #
If u ask me, it sure does seem like the roofs are purposely made the way they are to make sure the come-back is there. Obviously the roofs are a huge problem, so why not make it bomb proof with superior materials?
I see the Escape has a "seamless aluminum roof." Nice! Definitely check the sides and such it's like fiberglass. Less prone to tear and no sealant but the sides could peel back. Hopefully that never happens. Seems like a quality build
@@EatSeeRV No, the Escape is a full 2 piece Fibreglass shell, no aluminum or rubber. The only joint is at the waist line. The AC is raised as is the MaxFan opening. They are a work of art. Escape Trailer Industries from British Columbia Canada. The Escape 5.0 fifth wheel is the best trailer on the planet. Convince me otherwise.
Really nice job and wise decision $6,500.00 for the protection and integrity of an RV roof is nothing when you've invested $30-100++K for your rig! I had a 25'TT years ago and it sustained some major water damage. I sold it and vowed I would NEVER own another rv ever again. I solved the problem by buying a cargo trailer and converted it into a camper and now NO MORE ROT! I sealed the all aluminum one piece roof with Krazy Seal that comes with a 50 year warranty against leaking I'll be dead by the time that 50 years comes around!! 😂😂😉😉
Haha yes! That'd be. A steal. Although it might not be too far off considering you have a much smaller roof than ours and we got $1000 in fans and such
Now, when are you planning on selling this one??? Im very interested due to the roof work done for me😉. Safe travels and happy trails! P.S. I still like your MO toy hauler. Was your first RV Flex Armor done in Florida and if so why Arizona over Florida since Florida is your home state? Just asking for those whose reside in eastern USA. Thank you for your response.
Yes we did our old RV (Maggie) in Florida since that's where we are based. We did this one in AZ because we were out west when we bought this RV and wanted it done now
@@EatSeeRV thanks for the reply. I have two other questions if you don't mind answering. I want to get my RV done. Is the one in Florida the only one on the east coast? Second, I don't have solar panels yet, but would like in the future. I have to do additions in stages based on finances. How do you decides where to place hook-ups so as to not interfer with the integrity of the new roof later when able to add solar panels? Thanks for you time in responding.
Depends on how you look at it. A lot cheaper than having to buy a new RV because yours gets wood root in the roof. I do get it's not for everyone. But it's just as worth while of an investment for weekend warriors too.
I'd be interested in hearing about that Starlink antenna. I tried to get one for my house and I'm on a year wait list. Is that how it's going to be mounted all the time? Doesn't seem very aerodynamic. Do you have mobile connectivity or stationary only?
We have the RV one made with probability so we can use wherever we go. However we cannot and do not use it when in motion (that's actually grounds for Starlink to end the contract). They do have a mountable one that is made to be up on the roof permanently and can be used in motion but it's $2,500.
I wouldn't have mounted the Starlink antenna on the roof. Too many campsites have trees close by that will ruin the signal. At least with it not mounted you can move the antenna around to get a good signal. I have Starlink at my house and it's the best service ever, but it can be finicky with nearby obstructions.
FYI... If your Rv did not come with an outside ladder, it is because the MFG did not reinforce the roof to allow walking on. If your Rv DID come with a factory install ladder, knock yourself out. You can sit up there in lawn chairs and watch the game or race. !
People obviously don't realize that RVs aren't built very well. You buy it then reseal the roof as soon as you get it. Then continue resealing it every year. I'd say don't waste your money buying it.
No reason not to own an RV and all of the fun and memories it can bring just because they can be made poorly. I totally get your point but for those who do want to RV it's nice to know there's upgrades you can make to improve it's integrity over the life of the RV.
@@EatSeeRV Ohhhh yeah. Ok. Well we'll agree to disagree then. I've seen it first hand how easily they crumble. At least a dozen times. I've helped many people try and salvage their belongings from a wreck when the RV was demolished. Yeah they sure made memories there didn't they? I know an elderly couple who had just bought a 5th wheel trailer and their first day of full timing took a serious turn of events, when they were traveling thru a tunnel and came out the other end of it and huge gust of wind laid it on its side. They lost almost all of their belongings on that highway bcuz there was nothing left of that trailer. Great memories. My parents and my daughter both bought RVs from a dealership. My daughter's RV didn't last thru the first rain we got when the roof collapsed. Great memories. My parents' first day out traveling down the highway, a gust of wind blew it over. There was nothing left to salvage. Great memories. RVs aren't built to withstand pretty much anything mother nature has to throw at them. Don't get me wrong sure you can have tons of fun but they are still built very poorly. 2x2 wooden studs, really? And if it's an older model, they'll crumble like a toothpick. Ohhhh there's no reason not to buy one. Well I gave you a few reasons why not to.
Sorry for your negative experiences. To each their own. We've RV'd for 5 years in 3 different rigs. We can attest to the poor quality for sure, but still wouldn't trade them for the experiences and memories we've made!

i've seen roofing material for flat roofs and was thinking of using that to repair my brothers rv also used in construction FRP fiberglass reinforced plastic that stuff if strong but 3/16" thick and applied 3 coats, does that mean 3/16x3= 0.56 of an inch or just 3/16 in total. anyway amazing job that was done 👍
Great Job !!! Love it !! Thank you very much.
Thank you for watching and glad you enjoyed it.
Our class C has some water damage in the bed above the cab. I think much of the wood needs to be replaced :( Do these guys do that kind of work along with the flex armor roof?
Yes they repair wood decking. Sorry to hear that! Hope you get it fixed.
This is great. I am doing a little DIY on my roof and would like to add that radius protection. Do you know where I can get the corner round? Thank you.
Seems really cool however very expensive!
It is but we'll worth it over the long term. So much peace of mind
@@EatSeeRV I believe it! thanks!
Pretty bad that you can spend well over $100,000 on a Motorhome and they cant even put a decent sealed roof on it. We have a 2009 Winnebago View with a fiberglass roof but we've had water leak in the slide.
It is sad that it's the reality of it. Hope you find a good solution for your RV roof.
How do you go about replacing the skylights in 3-5 years when they're a degraded by UV?
You can come back to the shop to replace them. We put new ones in and think we can get 5 years out of it for sure
Almost like a spray on bed liner.
That's what it is .
I don’t trust anything would stand test on roof accept for one sheet thin metal cover the whole roof because not just the weather but highway driving all the shaking n rattling 😂
Nice infomercial
Great video!
Thank you!
We need a new roof on our 2022 MLE22. While it should be covered by GD it is not. We are torn between a traditional rubber roof replacement or the Flex Armor. After a year and a half what would your decision be now? Flex Armor is about 3K more expensive than the tradition rubber roof. Thank you!
We will never not have a Flex Armor roof on our RV. We've done it to two now and as we said in the video it's a non negotiable for us.
Why did you switch from that nice RV you had to this one? Did they old one (that looked newer) break down beyond repair?
Where can I get flex armor from?
Everything companies like Flex Armor cover is a corner that the manufacturers cut. That's shameful considering the price of a new RV.
It's a bummer this type of product isn't offered with new RVs but glad it's an option
Do they explain the process of what needs to happen if a component on the roof needs replacement? How do they extract and then re-seal?
They do but I suggest you reach out to them. They can explain the process in better detail!
I see the bill of $7300 but you say in the video $6500 which one is right?
The $7,300 was the intial quote before they finished work. Some things got taken off the quote because it wasn't needed. They measure what they spray and it was less than what they thought at first! So $6,500 was the end #
How much more would it costy if they used marine plywood (not particle board) when building an RV?
That’s not a bad price at all. Looks great
Agreed! Thank you. We think it looks great too
@@EatSeeRV let us know on a long term review also please.
Definitely! We had our other roof for 6 months and it was great! But will definitely give year+ update
Pretty cool
It's a great product.
If u ask me, it sure does seem like the roofs are purposely made the way they are to make sure the come-back is there. Obviously the roofs are a huge problem, so why not make it bomb proof with superior materials?
NEVER EVER will my roof leak, I have a 2020 Escape 19’, built like a boat. The Square Tube frame will rot out first.
That's awesome!
That's awesome. Water damage with RVs is the worse. Glad you found a solution 😃
Wow. Guess I shoulda had mine done 3-4 years ago. Quote was for $3600 for 16.5 ft.
Haha yes! That'd be. A steal. Although it might not be too far off considering you have a much smaller roof than ours and we got $1000 in fans and such
What metal did they use for the roof patches? ali or steel?
#
What was the fuzzed out areas on the video?
Too bad...I contacted Flex Arbor and they do not have a Canadian Dealer. Oh well maybe we will tie it in to a USA Holiday in the future. 🇨🇦
Yes only US right now. That's a great idea!
Very Impressive!!!
The roof is awesome!
Now, when are you planning on selling this one??? Im very interested due to the roof work done for me😉. Safe travels and happy trails!
P.S. I still like your MO toy hauler. That got me and the wife a toy hauler bug and now on the process of looking for our 43 feet MO to continue our fulltime rv living with our camping gears and machine to home in the toy hauler section😃.
This is how I know you've been with us for a while! wow a 43 footer. That's a big girl!
@@EatSeeRV Yes, we all have to start on something then decide later down the road if we go bigger or smaller...lol. Safe travels and happy trails!
I wish we had these guys downunder
If it works as good as it looks, it should be well worth it.
It does indeed!
Probably got a discount for the informational video they made.
We were paid for our video but paid the full, normal price for our roof as disclosed in the video.
Wow! Nice roof! How much weight was added?
4-5 lbs per linear foot
We have an ATC trailer and the roof is 100% aluminum, it will never go bad...
Awesome you have an aluminum roof! There's no wood decking at all?
@@EatSeeRV Yes everything is aluminum.
Awesome
Aluminum??? Is it made out of a soda can? Although, i like my Ford AlumiDuty truck...lol.
Fancy paint promotional advertisement
Definitely an excellent job but too pricey for most people just to do a roof of your RV that you only use six or seven times a year at most
Depends on how you look at it. A lot cheaper than having to buy a new RV because yours gets wood root in the roof. I do get it's not for everyone. But it's just as worth while of an investment for weekend warriors too.
K thats not bad I was thinking 10-12K for a job like that!
So how much was it? It's easy to tell me people it's a must Do when you get it for free
Literally shared it in the video. Watch through before assuming and asking questions we directly answered please!
you sshared outstanding recording~goodbye!- ;)
Thank you!
Why is there a blurring square in the video while they are applying it?
Proprietary products that they don't want competitors to see.
What about slides? Do they do those also?
No that would be too heavy for the slide and raise it too much so they don't seal.
Is flex armor the same as the DIY flex seal?
No it's not.
@@EatSeeRV I bet it is, just the spray on version for pro use.
What is being blurred out when they are spraying the roof?
They have a proprietary bolting system that only flex armor uses they don't want us to share. Wish we could it's super cool!
How much for that please and where is it.
We share both answers in the video. Please watch all the way through and listen. We also have links to the shop directly in the description.
FYI...
If your Rv did not come with an outside ladder, it is because the MFG did not
reinforce the roof to allow walking on. If your Rv DID come with a factory
install ladder, knock yourself out. You can sit up there in lawn chairs and
watch the game or race.
@@EatSeeRV
Ohhhh yeah.
@@tawnyschlienz9063 People have been recreating with RV's for 100 years, but go ahead and ramble on with your public service announcement and saving people from themselves and the RV industry. Everybody knows they are toothpick construction and disposable and they are not investing in a brick and stick home. So everybody please listen to this person as they think they know how you should spend your own money and then how to spend your time.
Got the right deal on a used 26ft Class C,started doing my own upgrades immediately, roof is in great shape so I cleaned it and sealed it immediately, plan on keeping it in this beautiful condition.Already made unforgettable memories with it,installed Bluetooth yesterday, kickass sound system now rocking the rig, heading to Dover for race week now.RV life is great, love it,going camping in western Pennsylvania after that.Rigs are built like crap so we customize our own, make them better, this one I have now will be converted to a 4+4 off road rig in late fall.RV life is what YOU make it.
We know prices can vary. It's ok to tell us what it costs you. Then says prices will vary. I think we all understand this concept.
I literally shared what it cost us in the video 🙃. It's okay to watch the entire video before commenting that we could have done something we did.
@@EatSeeRV my apologies. I guess i just perceived you dodging the question and stopped watching. I'll watch it all the way through. Thanks for clarification.
Thank you! We know it's a common question and wanted to be transparent. Hope the video helped.
This girl was blessed with a nice bubble
Do they have a location down in florida?
There are Flex Armor shops in Florida but they are run independently from AZ RV Roof. We got our first one done in Florida.
Sure you two can't get those cameras a little closer to your mugs? sheesh
The wide lens we would like to buy is over $1,000. Filming equipment costs money. We're doing the best we can by delivering quality content but we don't make enough from our channel to invest in our equipment as much as we'd like to. If it's too close for comfort for you feel free to send over a tip so we can upgrade our equipment!
@@EatSeeRV Sounds like you both need to save up for surgery to make your arms actually extend so you can hold the camera you have away from your heads so as not fill the entire screen with them. Maybe, just maybe that would actually work.
Yes we'll definitely do that. Thanks for the tip 👎
@@EatSeeRV Glad to help.
