This video shows everyone exactly how I modify my beetle spin lures, and when and why I use them under specific circumstances. email: AverageFisherman99@gmail.com
I have something similar to this but it has a small yellow perch. However, it has caught dozens of small mouths and some pan fish. 🎣 Also the ones I get are set up right out of the package 📦. Thank you for the post. Keep 🎣 fishing. ✌ peace...
There's an awful lot of truth in what you're saying about the Beetle Spin running diagonally. Im gonna try your modifications!! Thank You for the info,Sir!!
Cool idea. I just watched this and immediately did a mod but then used another and took it a step farther. I cut the loop a little longer and bent it around the wire a little so it works like a fast snap..
That's also a good idea. I attach mine using the 12lb no knot fas-snaps with the main line, but doing the loop as a snap WOULD make it faster to change jigs on the same L-Arm.
@@TheAverageFisherman99 exactly what I was thinking while looking at it. That way it’s a fast change of jigs AND if you hook into a bass it wouldn’t open up

@@TheAverageFisherman99 I'm on my way rn to try it out in the creek. If you have any tips on top water frog hooksets, that would be helpful. I miss so many bass.
That works well too. We used to put the blue tubes with white skirts on to catch black crappie. Around here, blue/white and black/chartreuse have always been the most popular tube jig colors.
@@TheAverageFisherman99 that's what I like about your channel. That's what my channel started out to be, but people seem to like the tournament news more. I wanted mine to be about tackle and how-to's. My viewership had other intentions.🤣

Hey you're welcome! Good luck!!
Thank you for the tips with beetlespin lures!
That's what this channel is all about! You're more than welcome!
Good mod. For clear water when fish can see more detail !
Give it a try ;)

I have noticed beetle spins turning sideways a little. Good point. I will say beetle spins catch everything so it's a risky mod IMO. Nice cideo
I haven't had any issue, but spinners made of cheap metal might possibly...
Good info. Thanks
You're welcome :)

I'll do a whole video on frogs because you asked :). I love top water frog fishing

No problem!!
Beetle Spins have been a go to lure for me for years! One of my favorite mods is use one with a tube jig.
That works well too. We used to put the blue tubes with white skirts on to catch black crappie. Around here, blue/white and black/chartreuse have always been the most popular tube jig colors.
@@TheAverageFisherman99 Look up Suick Curly Spin, giant Beetle Spin type lure for Musky!
@@DrFrankensteam interesting! We don't have musky here, but looks like a bass getter...
To reinforce the wire loop that's containing the jig, have you tried UV glue or epoxy to strengthen it? Ron U., NE Iowa
No. I haven't had a fish straighten out the loop yet to be honest.
I just subbed. Maybe we can colab from afar sometime! I like what you're doing. Keep it up, the algo will find you! 👊💯
I don't do this for popularity...I do it to help people out :)

What size willow blade are you using. Thanks in advance.
On my smaller heads, a size 1 or 2. On the 1/16oz heads, it's a size 3 perforated blade.
I put frog plastic legs on them and have caught huge bass and drum.
Never would have thought of that...
I’d kill a pike forsure if I tried that first tip
Beetle spins are one of the most versatile lures period. They catch pretty much everything.
I think I saw The Fish Yanker and Richard Gene the Fishing Machine suggest this
Yep. I made this video bc my grandpa showed me this trick about 35 years ago and I've been doing it ever since.
@@TheAverageFisherman99 can’t say I’ve had much luck with ‘em and I have a whole assortment of them never really caught anything with them I’ve had nibbles but that’s about it
On beetle spins? The real trick is finding the speed the fish want. If they're actively feeding, a beetlespin will tear em up.
@@TheAverageFisherman99 thanks I’ll take that into consideration the next time I try them
Another deadly tactic....reel in, pause, then twitch, then keep reeling.
