That was fun. When I told the githyanki goddess to go screw herself, the game said "game over" and I had to load a save. That's what was BS. I played through with a skill monkey to get the most out of the game. But I would have liked to play as my fav, the Druid. This game is too long and annoying to do again. DOS 2 was better gameplay.
I love these vids man, you're funny and you know what you're doing. Its really cool to see your strategies and how you improvise on the fly, great vids 10/10
@burger9788 FACTS. I thought my luck was just ass for a while, but after I started doing an actual full save and reloading it every so often it got SO much better.
I loved his analogy for the bulletproof vest and darkness comparison. Why? Because the fact that knives do go through those vests due to the knife being pointy lol
i just want to say, the fact that you can meet all the origin character in the 'town' area even though you did not accept them in your party is amazing.
27:30 Although we understand and agree with your point, that is not a great analogy. Bulletproof vests are made of ballistic fabric and knives will actually cut through them fairly easily.
If you destroy every living thing in the Githyanki creche you can get pretty powerful gear from it. Up until I did that I was struggling man, so to finish the game solo is impressive to me. Remember to bring a certain Hag to her knees and make her beg, she will note your ABILITY and get your POINT. Don't be afraid of Volo, it's hard to SEE why but sometimes things are INVISIBLE to us.
After watching this video, I immediately started a new dark urge play through with the same rules. 22 hours in, loving my evil as hell Gloom Stalker. Cheers mate great video ^^

I hope that for the next expansion or BG4 Larian will add an AI that checks if you're placing explosive barrels next to bosses and make the character react to it, or ask you what are you doing.
they know when you drop an explosive for the quest where you clear the rubble, so they've already programmed the behavior into the game funnily enough enough
@@waitingondeletion i put a boom barrel next to someone.. then i tried to move it a bit and dude thought i was stealing so he put the barrel in his pocket and i got in trouble... then i realized he stole my stolen barrel lol
When you get the runepowder vial, if you are fast enough, you can actually kill the NPC before they despawn to loot their body and claim the entire barrel, that does 40-150 force damage on explosion. Incredibly OP
Darkness blinds creatures within. Goblins have Devilsight (darkvision), also fun fact: basic "bulletproof" armor is not knife proof. Cuz physics, I'm not a scientist just pointing it out.
That's actually completely hilarious and illogical, but I wasn't aware goblins specifically had the ability "Devils Sight". Even the Warlock ones just have regular Dark Vision, I'll go back and check because that's really interesting.
After checking the Wiki and a previous save, all goblins have "Dark vision" (natural darkness) and not "Devil's Sight" (magical darkness). The only enemies I could find in the game with Devils Sight are Raphael, Yurgir, and most creatures classified as "Devils".
@@Xasra Darkness is sporadic in how well in works, in my (rather extensive hundreds and hundreds of hours) experience. I've had enemies shoot and walk into it as if it wasn't there, while at other times it stops them. HIDING in darkness (or fog cloud) is extremely consistent and effective, but just standing in it doesn't always work. It is possible that there is a bug where superior darkvision is giving devil's sight; I'm not sure about that. Solo tactician is extremely doable, by the way, without barrelmancy, but you have to get used to it. Gloomstalker is one of the best for that, but all sorts of builds are possible. Warlock would actually be one of the hardest characters to solo with (assuming pure/single class). Eldritch blast doesn't do much damage until late in Act 3. Even with the Potent Robe, you are looking at around 1-10 +10 X 2 in mid game, with bad initiative, saves, and AC. A Gloomstalker can hit for 40 twice, plus their free ambush attack, with a better to-hit, and they can bonus hide plus have massive initiative, as well. 40 comes from something like: 1-8 Titan Longbow +1 enhancement +4 str from hill giant club +5 dex +3 wis arcane circlet, +1-4 lesser helldusk (or 2 bracers of archery) +2 caustic band +1-4 psychic damage ring +1-4 fire dip in candle + 2-5 Drakeforged Glaive enchantment +10 sharpshooter. It is useful to have that gloomstalker build to compare other builds to for reference. And all the eq in that build can be gotten around lvl 5ish early Act 2 right after beating the 3 goblin bosses before even fighting much otherwise, except for the arcane circlet which is part of the Inquisitor fight. The ring in that room can be looted without any fighting and without aggroing anything if you invis and "send to camp" rather than "steal." Your AC can be 25 even with all that +dam eq (Yuan-ti armor, Ac boots from Mattis at last light, cloak of prot, iron-banded shield, and 20 dex). Saves are also good - not that it matters, as you never really need to get attacked back.
Quick tip for Nere fight. If you kill all of his minions and then take a long rest when you return not only will the wall already be blown open but Nere will be dead. I’ve done this on all of my solo runs and honestly fighting his band is always the toughest part for me. You can get lucky and thunder wave a couple of guards off the ledges into the lava when no one is looking without triggering a fight.
best music used the persona soundtrack was spot on for the grym fight especially the nature of it using something completely different than doing damage to win honestly great video
Nice vid, been thinking about doing a solo run myself, probably bardlock. Being able to throw items into darkness maxes sense, you can see the smoke cloud. If you had a legion of archers you'd just command them to fire into the darkness until the caster died. Rather then a glitch/bug I think its more of an accuracy by volume tactic.
There is no fight required to get to the Necromancy book of Tay, only the mirror which you have to talk to, the skeletons in the room are skippable by not touching the coffins
I used to only play MMO's and then BG3 came along. This offline game that has more depth and replayability than all MMO's. I have played nothing since and still get excited for my next playthrough. Nice. I just (20Dec) started a solo campaign (High Elf- boy, am I EVER! - Monk) before my buddy linked me this vid. Took Blade Ward as my cantrip-yeah-it's weak, but useful. Since I have a bow and decent Dex I don't need "Fiyah Bolto!" (Borrowed from Bell Cranel). Plus, that way I don't have "higher/lower powers" to thank if I win. My buddy (the one who linked your vid to me) is Warlock friendly, tho. He recommends Eldritch Bolt. I prefer Magic Missile as it never misses. You say toe-mahto . . . I allowed free sneak attacks (in custom), and boosted +2 Mastery. Running no mods . . . though I intend to download and install leveling to 20 when it's appropriate. I'm not just some character, mind you, I'm the guy they're depending on to save the campaign. I skipped rescuing Darksnot and left her crying at the crypt door for later pickpocketing. I simply dumped Lazy, never used her. I did have Gale (the windiest ***hole in the game) for the Grove defense fight, but dumped him soon after. I ditched As*tarion . . . he's lucky I didn't just off him. Anyone who holds a knife to my throat is automatically a bad guy - T or F? But I threw most of the goblins down to the spiders, had one guy standing up on the beams and a goblin came up to me so tossed him all the way down to the spiders 🤣 Throwing stuff and people is my new favourite attack.
Knives can absolutely be used to puncture Kevlar (bullet resistant) vests. Unless you buy the multi threat armor, which has metal plates as well to stop knives, a knife will absolutely go through the vest like you stabbing through a blanket wrapped around your chest. Gotta have multi-threat armor. Just FYI as I was a Prison Correctional Officer.
great video ! I was tinkering with the idea of a solo rogue-thief/warlock-pact of the blade. Figure can do all face party stuff and tackle traps/locks and still be able to use the OP darkness/devil sight plus the extra attacks/bonus actions might be helpful. Also thinking of going drow for the free extra darkness cast.
@@Xasra tbf though I looked it up after posting this and it only gives you a boost if a target is bleeding which wasn’t something you were using anyways
New books tend to show up as they become relevant to the location or story, which is pretty cool. Reminds me of the attention Bethesda used to give to item placement...

ACT 1 he proclaims in bold letters in the title and in the opening minute gives a spoiler that the player doesn't find out about until at least Act 2...five head shit right there. Truly the biggest of all brains /s
27:20 btw The knife would go through because bullets aren't sharp their essentially highspeed rocks the knife would go through because its sharp but yeah the throwing javelins thing is stupid but they can't fix it because they still want you throwing potions into it and it takes way too much time to write new code for throwing weapons
killing Auntie Ethel is a waste, just get her low, then take her hair for a stat boost. there is a reason for it being a waste but its a spoiler so I'll avoid telling you, just... trust me, that is what you want, you want the stat boost. the second best thing after that is keeping Connor for yourself as a zombie minion. Doing the right thing is the least desirable in this quest.
A bulletproof jacket made out of Kevlar would stop most bullets quite well but a thin sharp knife like a stiletto or even an arrow would go right through. A bullet crushes and the Kevlar weave hold up well to being smashed through however sharp points get between the weave and go right through it. Armor, like everything else must be adjusted for what you expect to face. In short your knife vs. bulletproof comparison does not stand up to reality and how armor actually works.
Man, those mods look so cool. I hope Larian does what CDPR did with Witcher 3 and releases a bunch of little packs of gear and items for free... and two really big, really cool expansions for very reasonable prices.
:0 there were some parts that I didn't know existed in Act 1 like the fish people, the robot in the mage tower, and some of the encounters in Grimforge. I will have to return to those ares and explore some more to find them.
@@Xasra better if you are not seen, but there are some persuasive/deceptive checks you can do. Also casting darkness is a good way to conceal what you are doing
Your analogy is bad lmao, yes knives can go through bullet proof vests, they slice through Kevlar. As for your actual grievance I agree with you 😂 love the video
Karmic dice is such a weird mechanic that it also effects enemies and also effects you if you have too many good rolls in a row and forces you to get bad rolls. And yet its default on, which means most players would be using it without even realising why enemies suddenly can multi-crit them
It doesn't cause you to get bad rolls if you get too many good rolls in a row. It shouldn't affect lucky streaks at all in that way. It only affects unlucky streaks, for both sides (I believe it even says now that it affects enemies too, in the information). I'm confused why so many people think Karmic Dice forces unlucky rolls when you have too many good ones? Where is this information coming from?
@@ElysetheEevee Because that's how it worked for 3 years, if you roll lucky, it will force the dice to roll low for you. If you roll unlucky, then it forces the dice to roll high. If enemies roll low constantly, such as attacking in darkness on an easier difficulty, then they will have crit streaks on you. As soon as I turned Karmic dice off, I hit enemies more often and they hit me less. I Know this is personal bias but you can really feel it when you have 22 AC characters who shouldn't ever miss.
Hold up you didn't kill your unwanted companions, dude free tadpoles kill them. I did if they wasn't in my party because they sure as hell ain't going to camp.
Don’t knock Corsair Greymon off the boat, he has an amazing long sword, one of its special attacks allows you to strike many enemies in a contained area, it’s great for crowd control, although often looked over
I am actually planning on doing one of those eventually. I'm doing a tactician run off camera so I can test some stuff out. But I'm going to do Dark Urge Tactician first.
I find myself agreeing and disagreeing at the same time. Is it absolutely crazy and exciting that the run can end randomly whenever? Yes. Am I, in particular, a patient-enough person to handle it? No way 😅
I was letting my friend pick what allies I got to have. Let’s just say I am also completing this challenge… so far just got to the druid camp. I made the mistake of choosing tactician before I decided he’d pick my allies. Oops.
The thing with darkness is that the disadvantage only applies for the one inside of the spell, anyone on the outside will get an advantage on you because you are blinded
Not with Devils Sight. The reason people run towards it is usually because they have aggressive AI or have the capability to see through it. Since ranged attacks (per the spells description) cannot pass through it, they have to use melee or AOE effects. While inside darkness you are considered "Heavily Obscured" which grants disadvantage on attack rolls against you. Since I have devil's sight, no disadvantage is applied to me since I can see through it, and they can't attack at range because 1) they can't see me & 2) ranged attacks can't be made through it. This is why normally if you cast darkness on an enemy you are unable to make attack rolls against them unless you are inside darkness yourself, and they will immediately move out of it. Fog cloud on the other hand works partially like you explained.

I was loving all the KH music, but then you brought out Undertale and I'm sold lol funny vid too
Looks super fun, might try this out myself. And damn, that's some nice face and horns.
If the vest is Kevlar mesh a knife will totally penetrate it easier than a bullet.
Yeah a drow warlock was my character too on my first playthrough awesome character
Loved this video, also really loved that you played Kingdom Hearts music in the background, made me want to play all the games again lol
If I’m not wrong the second half had persona 5 music playing
Instant like for playing on a sensible difficulty for trying a challenge.
you can long rest with halsin in your group in act 1.
he asks where you are going, you say chill, and he waits for you to long rest
Love this! Fog is better than darkness. I said it. Esp with Eversight Ring
I just finished act 2 today and found it, I 100% agree with you 😈
The horn jewelry is absolutely cute, lol.
There are short solo adventures in an early addition of dnd, one (meant for a cleric)'s big bad is an alcohol mummy priest
great video !
Barrelmancy is my favourite spec in this game. Makes everything so much easier xD
It's funny how people talk about how hard the lava elemental in the forge is. Create water. Or just scare it with frightening abilities. Both work
Sora's theme off rip was so nice to hear randomly on a BG3 video lol
Unless I’m mistaken, you could have also gotten a permanent buff if you sacrificed a character to the the fish people
You're right I should have sacrificed Gale 🤣
@@Xasra tbf though I looked it up after posting this and it only gives you a boost if a target is bleeding which wasn’t something you were using anyways
Coming back to this because *Spoilers* (I just started act 3, i wanna watch this in one go.) But subbed just because of Kingdom hearts music
>beating it solo
>Immediately asks shadow heart for help lifting a heavy rock
Dark Urge is the best way to play solo because of the perks
Just wanna take a moment to say, incredible taste in music my guy
I can appreciate that Kingdom Hearts and Undertale music throughout this video.
New books tend to show up as they become relevant to the location or story, which is pretty cool. Reminds me of the attention Bethesda used to give to item placement...
*Sets game to medium difficulty, uses exploits, uses barrelmancy, sits in darkness through every fight, savescums*
"Wow that was easier than I thought"
Lmfao
I SAW THAT BLOODLESS EFFECT YOU AINT SLICK
Shhhh you saw nothing
25:34 I enlarged my tavernbrawler monk/barbarian who proceeded to RKO that piece of trash into the scrap heap.
ACT 1 he proclaims in bold letters in the title and in the opening minute gives a spoiler that the player doesn't find out about until at least Act 2...five head shit right there. Truly the biggest of all brains /s
Truly, I'm the most 5 head individual
You can long rest with Halsin in your party as a temp, he says the same dialogue as when he went back to the prison
27:20 btw The knife would go through because bullets aren't sharp their essentially highspeed rocks the knife would go through because its sharp
but yeah the throwing javelins thing is stupid but they can't fix it because they still want you throwing potions into it and it takes way too much time to write new code for throwing weapons
"So, we'll be doing this alone."
Dang, that'll be hard.
"First we'll be taking Booming Blade"
Ah, problem solved.
killing Auntie Ethel is a waste, just get her low, then take her hair for a stat boost. there is a reason for it being a waste but its a spoiler so I'll avoid telling you, just... trust me, that is what you want, you want the stat boost. the second best thing after that is keeping Connor for yourself as a zombie minion. Doing the right thing is the least desirable in this quest.
yeah, but its funnier to just cheese her XD
Aw but I like how Mayrina redeems herself in act 3
A bulletproof jacket made out of Kevlar would stop most bullets quite well but a thin sharp knife like a stiletto or even an arrow would go right through. A bullet crushes and the Kevlar weave hold up well to being smashed through however sharp points get between the weave and go right through it. Armor, like everything else must be adjusted for what you expect to face.
In short your knife vs. bulletproof comparison does not stand up to reality and how armor actually works.
I don't know how or why but i know several players who solo'd the whole game on Tactician. Pure min maxing
Man, those mods look so cool. I hope Larian does what CDPR did with Witcher 3 and releases a bunch of little packs of gear and items for free... and two really big, really cool expansions for very reasonable prices.
Yeah even though I turned off karmic dice, the enemies almost always crit me even when they have disadvantage and I always crit fail
With the undead slaver fight I knocked down all the rope ladders around me 😂
:0 there were some parts that I didn't know existed in Act 1 like the fish people, the robot in the mage tower, and some of the encounters in Grimforge. I will have to return to those ares and explore some more to find them.
"Luckily, arson doesn't require a verbal component." Oh, really now. The more you know.
I did this with a Ranger Knight/Gloomstalker without save scumming. Very few friendly NPC's survived.
In the gobblin camp first area, put poison in the brew container 😊
Do you need a distraction for that? Like minor illusion, because they were always looking over there when I tried to do it 🫠
@@Xasra better if you are not seen, but there are some persuasive/deceptive checks you can do. Also casting darkness is a good way to conceal what you are doing
@@Thomasnmi oh, lol I'm dumb 😭
If there is anything I know..this game and its developers came prepared, because even an owl bear. Can use a ladder.
Your analogy is bad lmao, yes knives can go through bullet proof vests, they slice through Kevlar. As for your actual grievance I agree with you 😂 love the video
Yeah I found out after making the video that knives actually go through the mesh of kevlar, rendering it useless 😭
Don’t knock Corsair Greymon off the boat, he has an amazing long sword, one of its special attacks allows you to strike many enemies in a contained area, it’s great for crowd control, although often looked over
and now you can do it again in honour mode :D
The impression of Halsin was incredible! 🤣 I died laughing!
Walmart Manager 😂😂😂
Try a solo death=delete tactician it’s actually so fun and thrilling because anything could just end your run
No way 😅
The books actually make decent money, they sell for 10+ coins and they are common
Take Karlach to the barn and have her open the door. No fight, but a much better scene.
so glad someone did this before i did so i don’t have to
Welcome to the collective brother
Oh god this is my brand now 😂
I was letting my friend pick what allies I got to have. Let’s just say I am also completing this challenge… so far just got to the druid camp. I made the mistake of choosing tactician before I decided he’d pick my allies. Oops.
"Hello, I'm Ga"y got me off guard XDD
i have subed in the hopes that you'll post a cut version of your act 2 lonewolf, like this video. neat trick with thte darkness
9:10 what they haven’t fixed is if you use the barter option, you can have an autoclicker and use it to sell one item multiple times
This has been so entertaining to watch, earned a sub :)
still working on my own "channel", racking up those recorded gameplay lol.. :D
Your character is so pretty you really did her good.
@Xasra Even if you do not have disadvantage, just being on the edge of darkness allows people outside to attack without going in
@@borniuus4850 yes that has happened multiple times during my playthrough 😂, I don't quite understand why the game behaves that way, but so be it
