  • Fishing when its hot can be amazing! So many anglers are afraid of the heat but they don't realize how predictable the bass become! Once you understand how the fish are positioning, catching hot Summer bass is easy!
After today you're going to fish with confidence, no matter how hot it gets! Just remember that everything revolves around shade. Depending on the type of lake you're on, the type of shade will vary, but once its identified the rest is clock work. Don't overlook the unique shade locations that we outline in this video. Use the right baits around the right shade and you'll always catch fish!
Below you'll find links to the exact baits we discussed in the video. We've included our favorite sizes, colors, and rigging components for each. We've also included some of our favorite rod and reel combos for effectively fishing these techniques. All the links go directly to Tackle Warehouse where you can see detailed photos and descriptions of each item.

A lot of us are talking... this whole posting a few times a week just aint cutting it.. I'm gonna need you guys to post videos like these 6-7 times a day, every day, to keep up with my addiction. Please fix this IMMEDIATELY. Thanks.

Guys say go slow and small when it gets hot. I'm here to tell you, throw that idea out the window. Ever since the post spawn, I've been catching fish after fish working that big jerkbait super fast from the bank, but also from my Bass Buggy too. Fast and loud with no pauses. Big worms are also your friends too. Magnum Ol' Monster, Mann's Jelly Worms, etc...don't be afraid to go big, go fast, and go loud. You can catch your PB at this time of year if you aren't afraid to change things up.

This helps me. I have to fish online because I do not feel safe bass fishing by myself. My fishing partner was my dad and he died. So bass pro sim is my way of keeping it going. This helps me play this where such knowledge is beneficial.

Terrific vid, Matt. I agree on the confusion of the color line. I initially was confusing “color” line with Mud line. haha. That is color, but caused by boat traffic on busy days. However, the color line you mention is truly based on sunlight penetration in clear water. Good stuff!

Welcome. Both Matt Allen and Tim Little possess a great deal of fishing skill and teaching ability, and they are both very good at tailoring their presentation to speak to a wide range of anglers. I very much suggest you go back through their video library and have a look; there is some fantastic content in there. As far as gear, take a look at the Buyers Guides - the most recent was spring of this year - and they will give insight as to their favorite rods, reels, etc., at various price points. In my opinion, TB is in the conversation as the best UA-cam bass fishing channel out there. Good luck!

Love the videos you guys put out. I've learned a lot and applied a lot of what you guys show when I get on the water. I've had some success but am still slow to getting on the fish. That will come with more time and experience on my local lake I believe. I would love to see a video that covers what spinning rods/reels would work for some of the different fishing styles. I know baitcast is better in many cases and vice versa but I'm still learning my baitcasters and can't do a few of the things you guys do without nesting and starting from square one again

    • @oldeschoolbob1022
      @oldeschoolbob1022 2 роки тому +2

I'm a longtime spinning guy; grew up fishing inshore saltwater here in Florida, so spinners are a major comfort zone for me. Where they struggle are fishing heavy cover, heavier baits, and power techniques. I do throw a MH spinning rod that I use for light cover and smaller jigs. It's basically my substitute for a M power baitcaster. Have you checked their Buyer's Guides? Also, Matt did a video of Top 5 rods to own that is fantastic. He chooses spinners for two of his first three rods. It's here: ua-cam.com/video/5vhH7U2IOUI/v-deo.html . If you haven't already, and you're right-handed, try a left-side reel baitcaster. It's way more natural for me than the traditional right-side reel. Good luck!

Fishing a decently clear smaller reservoir here in Northeast Ohio. Caught 6 of 8 total. 5 good ones between 1.5 and 2.75.
All catches were casting a few feet away from the rocks along the bank I was Fishing. Lost a 3.5 + but going back for more today!!

You should always look for a confluence of factors as well. Hard cover that juts out past the “color line”? A spring creek that feeds into an area of thick cover? These are the highest percentage places in my experience. This is also the time of year when it pays to be able to throw baits DEEP into the shade. If there’s an overhang that leans 20’ out over the water, get it waaayyyyyyyyy back there. Back in the 90s, I caught my personal best in early august during a heat wave. We were getting our final casts in before a large thunderstorm overtook the lake, I chucked a popper way under this deep overhang near a feeder creek and pulled out a bass that was practically half the size of 12-year-old me. The storm was so bad, we had to abandon the boat and walk back to our cottage through the pouring rain and deafening thunder. The entire time, I was biting my nails, hoping this bass was ok in the boat and luckily it was. After the squall, we got some pictures, let ‘er go and she swam right back to the same hole. Summer fishing can be great…it’s just about making adjustments, that’s all.

@@lucascarter2277 Aw dang. The same happened to me too. I got skunked and a storm came along. Well, you'll definitely get some bass next time! I got skunked before watching this video, so hopefully this video will help me next time I go fishing. The storm probably ruined your chances of getting a fish. Whenever you go fishing again, hopefully there's no more rain for you! Good luck next time!

@@yangler9935 Thanks Patrick. I wondered how the post frontal conditions played into that. Hope you have good conditions and catch a bunch next time too.

Hey ya'll, thanks so much for all the content. I've definitely become a better angler from it. I'm in eastern PA and I fish the Delaware river primarily. I take the info I get from TB and try to convert it to higher current situations. A video on ways to alter tactics applied on lakes to be used on rivers would be awesome! Thanks again, keep em coming!

I haven't ventured my way to the Delaware River yet. I live in New Jersey. Not too far, but it's such an overwhelming river. I don't even know where to start.

I hear ya bud! Try singling out a species of fish to target, then its research and development, aka time on the water! You have an idea of what you want to fish for?

What advice do you have for canal fishing for summer time bass fishing, for example like the Colorado river.

Hey Matt, thx for the great video. Down here in Florida my home waters is Headwaters (Fellsmere reservoir). I know you’ve fished it before so you know what it’s like. Is the wobble head with creature bait a good choice given it’s mostly vegetation?

I've said this forever and people think I'm crazy till I tell em why. It's miserably hot, but the fish are the easiest to find and they set up to fish em my favorite ways.

I started watching your videos about a month ago, and in that month, iv caught more largemouth and smallmouth than in my entire life combined up to that point. Thx for the great instructional vids. Do some vids focusing on specific techniques maybe.. in depth drop shot, how and when to use it, how to work etc.
