This is a stark contrast to some of the new money balleurs who are featured. There's "rich" and then there's "I collect significant vintage race cars rich." Beautiful that he wants young drivers to drive them, too. That's passion. Incredible car.
Appealing, absolutely ! Perfectly orchestrated film work. Your editing surpassing spot on ...for us who've been following moto sports since the 50's , I found my memory stirred up over & over thru out every frame in this film. I've always had an eye for exquisite beauty, regarding shape, color, sound & fittings & material. At film time 4:50, in describing the car wanting a bit of roughness, the camera lens falls onto the helmet lettering, word- RUGGED . My guess this was intentional & to a large part a pure example of lens art !
Crazy that he's selling his entire Lancia racing collection... can only hope someone will actually be driving all these incredible cars instead of letting them sit under a cover or in a private garage.
Thank you so much for showing this. I was stationed in England when this car was racing so I got to see it run at Silverstone and Le Mans and it is a great memory of heady and exciting times.
@footballcoreano In what world are Italian cars more reliable than Japanese cars? Fiat branded cars are extremely terrible in terms of style, reliability, perfomance and elegance. Alfas on the other hand especially recently are amazing performance wise, passionate, extremely stylish beautiful cars but there is no reliability though. Japanese cars are blunt and for the most part not exciting with the exception of the honda nsx, nissan gtr, mazda mx5, toyota gt86 but so far are the most reliable vehicles on the planet.
Until 30 years ago driving a racing car was a great skill. Now with the electronic control and the pit people driving a racing car is not the skill of driving.
I've seen an LC2, the coupe version, and it is one of the sexiest looking race cars I have ever seen. Martini livery makes just about any car look better.
LC2 it's not simply the coupe version of the LC2, It's a totally different car. LC2 has the chassis engineered by Dallara and the V8 Ferrari twin turbo engine modified by Abarth with 850 horsepower that can go up to 1.000 horsepower just for the qualification. It was running in the group C, at that time it was the only car giving trouble to group C Porsche cars. It won some races and did quite a lot pole positions, but it did not achieve to win the 24 hours Le Mans race. Unfortunately Lancia after only 2 years decided to cancel its group C program to concetrate just on Rally Championship.
I have one of these (or the larger chassis) in a plastic model that has a battery powered motor...assembled it 35 years ago, put the Martini livery on it too. 👍
What a shame that Fiat is letting Lancia die on the vine. Wonderful cars with a rich history . I would love to see the brand reclaim its former glory .
I was thinking the same. The city of Nuremberg is 390km away from the city of Nürburg. Different places. The famous circuit in Nuremberg is the Norisring.
Nuremberg is the english spelling for the city of Nürnberg. The Nürburgring has nothing in common with the city of Nürnberg. It is named after a kind of castle with the name Nürburg. Notice the difference in spelling.
It's a bit sad these old liveries aren't used anymore. Of course i can understand why because alcohol and cigarettes are anything but healthy, but i can only say from my personal perspective: I never thought i need to drink or smoke when i saw these cars ... i just thought: Man, that's a good looking car!
could be a goup c toyota but it's kind of a wild guess, im not that knowledgeble about endurance cars. also they did a lot of messing about with rules and shapes in that era
Thank you. I looked at the website but it did not identify the mystery car. It is good to see old race cars being exercised not just sitting in a warehouse. Like at Goodwood Members events and historic races.
It was called seat of the pants for a reason. I buy my car's by that feel to this day. I raced bikes like that and cars . I prefer to drive my street car with that feel also .
Never knew Lancia had a cloverleaf. Arent you talking about the quadrofoglio Alfa Romeo uses? Thats a four leaf clover on a white triangle and has a different and interesting history, actually involving Enzo Ferrari. You can google it. Its worth the read.

This is a really cool video and cool car, but I really can't roll my eyes hard enough when someone waxes on about *insert year here* cars being more "pure" than whatever is currently racing. I'm sure in the Group C era, people were like "yea, turbos are cool and everything but there was something special about no turbos, no ground effects. just you and the car." I'm sure in the early-70's, there were people who were like "yea, downforce is cool and everything but there was something special about no wings and no disc brakes. just you and the car." This sort of mindset is reductive and childish and I wish people would stop it because it leads to people believing in some mythical and ever-changing target about what a "real" car should be.

Rest in Peace Sir John Campion. Thank you for being a true custodian of Italian classics and relics of extreme motorsport
Martini and Lancia is the best duo ever.
It's a good duo and an iconic one but it still gets beaten out by the JPS Lotus and Marlboro Mclaren. It's in the top 3 definitely.
