Homologation Specials: 1994 Lancia Delta HF Integrale Evo II

- The infamous ending to the Group B era of the World Rally Championship led to a new breed of title-contending cars for the 1987 season. The Group A category (which had existed since the inception of Group B in 1982) cars that emerged during the following decade were a slower and less exotic variety than their short-lived Group B counterparts, but the competition between manufacturers during this era was also some of the strongest in the sport’s history, and it produced the winningest car platform to date: the Lancia Delta HF.
In HF 4WD form, the Delta HF made its dominant WRC debut in 1987, winning nine of the season’s 13 rounds, and with only two podium absences. Lancia won the constructors’ title five additional times-in a row-afterwards, thanks to its strong driver lineups and the ever-evolving Delta. The car grew wider and more powerful during its remarkably long competitive lifespan, culminating in the Lancia Delta HF Integrale Evoluzione in the 1992 season.
It lived up to its successful heritage and helped Lancia win the WRC constructors’ title one last time, but it also marked the end of the company’s prestigious decades-long rallying program. One of the greatest examples in sport of bowing out on a competitive high note, the Delta HF rally cars are a worthy capstone to a lineage of cars that includes up a majority of the WRC’s most beloved mechanical competitors.
As the Delta was continuously wrung for more performance between 1987 and 1992, Lancia complied with regulations and released road-going variants to legalize the introduction of new parts and designs, which left the enthusiast market with a pretty diverse range of high-performance street-legal Delta variants.
This episode of Homologation Specials features the very last of these hot Deltas, the HF Integrale Evoluzione II. And although this model has the wildest bodywork, the most power, and the highest degree of overall development of the lot, it technically isn’t a homologation special at all, seeing as Lancia’s WRC program had officially concluded before the release of the “Evo 2” in 1993. We hope you’ll cut it some slack, though, and that you enjoy watching our host Sam Hancock weaving it through some mountain switchbacks.

One of the best looking cars ever. I would have this car over many super cars
Agreed, timeless. I remember going to the "Scottish Motor Show" in 1990 and Lancia had a stand. That event doesn't exist any more. There was an Integrale Evo there, burgundy metallic. Back then we didn't have camera phones, images stuck in the mind. It was an amazing looking car. The RS500 was incredible but this was next level. The Escort RS Cosworth did not come close. 👍🏻
@@amc1974 😍😍. You are completely right mate. This car does not get old. The more it ages, the better it looks
Same here man.
Hell yeah. It's magnificent. Seen two on the road and both times I was more awestruck than any supercar I've ever seen.
I needed a flashlight to watch this video.
Still missing the owners telling the story of their cars rather than repeating what has already been written, said, illustrated thousand times in the past. I stopped watching after a few sentences with the camera focusing on the speaker and the car behind...
agree
Agreed. Petrolicious is/ used to be for proper petrolheads, we don’t need the car’s Wikipedia read out to us like children. There are other channels for that.
Turned into a real meh channel :(
@@midknight You will never get the old format back. That i can guarantee it.
100% AGREED
I like Sam and this series is great but the audio is blown out on this and often sounds broken in other episodes. Visuals are off as well. This channel used to have beautiful cinematography. I just don't understand how you mess it up like this.
I thought they were going for some sorta 80s style aesthetic. Doesn't work here
Created by people that have no respect for the actual topic - they just want to flex their film school-ness.
I agree, the quality has declined. I think, however, that it’s due to covid and budget. The reason this video is so dark I think has to do with the person handling the cameras. Since I think the original footage was mediocre, at best. Some of the material likely was very overexposed and som very underexposed. Someone probably tried to save it by keeping the darks dark and trying to kill the overexposure doing so. Didn’t work, though. Or maybe the person editing isn’t qualified.
Well said,
ABSOLUTELY. This channel had everything it ever needed a few years ago. Suspense, drama, real life accounts, cinematography to die for and soundtracks to make you stop in your tracks. But they turned right instead of left and thought their SAT-NAV was steering the channel in the right direction..... WRONG.
The best looking car that was entirely designed with nothing but a straight edge and pencil...and it has four doors.
This car in red has been my favourite car of all time since as long as I can remember, much love to the channel for finally a video on one
This is the car which started my love affair with WRC and motorsport ❤️😍
Nothing like the good'ol rally lunchbox
Hahha! Exactly my feelings too👍
Good day bro🙏
What has happened to vjdeo and audio quality?
Lancia used to be such a special brand. Sad how it ended up. 🇮🇹❤️
My eyes teared up towards the end of the video, what a legend this car is, my dream car. Sadly I can't afford it. The closest I could get to this, was my beloved little Panda 141. It's Italian, and a square hatch.
4:55 I could almost hear the Lancia saying "Don't poke me like that or I will bite your hands off!". 😁
It's a shame. This car (especially in this color) deserved a proper "old style" Petrolicious video, not this stuff. I can't dislike it because it's a Delta, but I can't like it either. Better bring back the old format, otherwise the subscribers will drop sub zero.
I unsubscribed it already
We don’t want a presenter personality on this channel! Look, Sam Hancock is a cool guy… we just don’t care. We want to see the story of the particular car. Not a stat sheet about it. People like me subscribed to see beautifully shot videos and hear personal stories.
I go back to the Ferrari 330 P4 video you guys did quite often, and it makes me emotional every time. The pure beauty of the car, and the personal stories from the owner are unbeatable by any other channel. That has changed immensely. Sticking Sam Hancock in these cars instead is just sad. You’ve done better, and can do better! It’s sad to see that audio a visual quality is sliding as well.
Every time I click a video and see it’s Mr. Hancock presenting again, I immediately click off, and I know many do the same.
I really hope we can get the old Petrolicious that we loved back soon, and if you read the comments, so many others do too.
I don't know what you're problem is really, dude...
agree, dude just won't shut up and show the car
ABSOLUTELY AZTEK. Couldn't agree more. Discerning petrolheads only want one thing, this channel, back to where it should be.
Why is this video so messed up? The colours look wonky and the audio seems all over the place? Is it badly exported or something?
I had an Integrale from Walkers in Northallerton back in the day. It was the most incredible thing I'd ever driven. The test drive was like being on a rally stage and my shift from Scoobys was complete. To say I was gutted when we parted company a few years later in an understatement. I urge anyone, even if you have no intention of buying, to go and test drive one.
I used to see this car at my local Fiat / Alfa dealer when I was like 14 best time of my life.
Great video but something about the Lighting and colours is a bit off
There have been many icons, but the Delta integrale Evo will forever be the icon of icons.
Why is the picture so crap? Shot on VHS video??
Lovely! however, Evo 2 cars are not homologated models. Only the Evo 1.
Absolutely love these specials you've been doing. Lancia has quickly become one of my favorite historical car brands - their rally designs are just so cool. Would LOVE to see one on the RS200 one day.
Aah!!! Another wonderful video of the wonderful Lancia Integrale ...
Definitely loved by the 80's 'car guys'.
Thanks for this one guys 🙏
Have a nice day all die hard fans of this machine👍
All Lancias are beautiful..
But Stratos is the Most Beautiful..imo
You mean only the three models which competed in the 80's and 90's because the rest is awful.
@@THEWILLY417 Stratos, 037, Lancia Delta Integrale in various editions AND Beta Montencarlo, Thema, Prisma just to name some of the Lancia that you may have missed.
@@gluca069just___it9 The Fulvia definitely deserves a shout too. Beautiful car. Something about round headlights I guess!
@@Suprapwns yep my dream car
Oh, how I miss my Giallo lover.
My 23 year old son still goes on about it 15 years later
Evo 2/ 1994
Larger intercooler and short-shifter. Otherwise was standard and mint. Epic experience.
It is basically a stunning looking Nissan Micra up to 7/10ths but when you unleash the car it is incredible. It took me some time to unlock all of this, which, to be fair, you would not do in few drives. You just scratched the surface. It becomes a love affair and I never really ever drove it slowly in my time with it. Ha, so many memories. Damn. I have had some nice cars but this is the one that made me just stare at it in a post-euphoric state after driving it hard.
I am hoping the new Emira on order finally scratches that same deep itch.
Exclusively for Japan but of course only in left hand drive.
I adore these boxy venty reminders of my youth.
Thanks for the video.
This will always remain my dream car
Automobile absolument sublime, excellente vidéo. Merci
Me encantaría tener uno la verdad es maravilloso , el LANCIA DELTA EVO 2 excelente !!!
The GREATEST rally car EVER!
PERIOD!!
The video quality is really bad. There seems to be some sort of filter that makes the video too dark.
That cyclist didn't flinch at all, impressive!
I am Planning to leave tomorrow. I want to hear an answer. Than leave with respect. Thank you for giving me good passion and love in the past. Thats what I respect. You were the best memories and pure car love. Sincerely Yours Ufuk GUVEN
I sold one of these about 20 years ago - superb car, how I regret parting with it !!!
Same here. Mine just the HF grale 16v but I loved it. Had the rear wing and the Evo bonnet. Lovely car. Times got hard and 4 years flogged it on. Big big regret
Not just the most successful, the greatest! Loved my EVO2 for 6 years, and the only car I felt could replace it (for me) was a Ferrari F355 GTB manual. Forza Italia!
what's up with the abysmal quality?
A legend
Lancia Delta HF Integrale >>> WRC World Champion from 1987~1992 🌷🌿🌍💖🇮🇹
Only problem with this video is the Evo 2 was not homologated. The Evo 1 was.
*The Eternal Queen of Rallying* 👑🥇🏆6️⃣
*Forza Delta🔥| Forza Lancia* 🇮🇹
Possibly my favourite car of all time! I was fortunate enough to be taken to the British super bikes in my brother in laws dark grey evo 2! I loved every second of it!! It was soo beautiful before it got rear ended and wrote off! He was soo gutted especially now the prices have sky rocketed!!
One off my favorite rally car
”Wish it had more power” was certainly not something you heard back in the day! 😄
Thats how things change I suppose...
This is a Edizione Finale Evo II, imported from Japan. Not "homologation special", Evo I was the last one.
And I think this one sold for £217k last week at Silverstone auctions.
@@simes205 amazing what happened with the older cars when people discovered they can invest and make money off them. Everyone is now an investor.
If that is true (217k), then Harry sold his yellow Delta too soon :D And that nice 930 turbo too.
@@thefridgeman I shouldn't worry.
He's not down to his last million yet.
@@jonlyons1033 why should I worry? I hope he can buy even more bikes and cars to fill up a second garage.
@@justinbennitt835 oh, so the title is "click bait" then? "homologation specials - 1994 Evo II, etc". Which one is it now?
May dad's mate had one of these hf finalé, he got it from a guy in Japan in prestine condition and imported it to the U.K. He took me for a ride and it was wicked. I believe it was badged #257. Still my favorite car I've been in. He lives in the isle of mann too so idk if he took it round the island as he has a house in Yorkshire too, but that would be epic, ripping that round the roads full throttle.
es el mejor , auto El nuevo evolución LANCIA DELTA , ME GUSTA sus detalles en toda la carrocería es excelente perfecto , es magnífico FeLicitasiones !!!! Saludos de un argentino
stories of owners and their special cars. that's what was so good and unique about petrolicious. the story behind that specific car and the special bond an owner has with her or his car. in this new form it is just another random car show.
This car with the 2 liter turbo motor from the AMG A45S would be insane
Colorisation of this video reminds me of my last CRT when it started to die. And i don't say that with nostalgia in my voice.
You guys started well, I loved it and always looking forward to new videos. Let the owners talk about their cars. Not just Hancock reciting history from history lessons. Shut up!
I have missed these. Long overdue:
LANCIA DELTA H F evolución,2 el Mejor !!!! 100 % estilo , exclusivo tremendo , magnífico
Love those lancias
Amazing car performance
Evo 2 wasn't a 'Homologation Special' but the HF4WD, 8v integrale, 16v integrale, and Evo 1 were.
Superb...
Haven't watched the video yet, but I thought the Evo II wasn't a homologation anymore as it did not race anymore at that time?
Muy bueno maravilloso Adelante LANCIA DELTA
Somebody edited video with night driving glass on.
Finally someone mentiones Alen also, he was THE Fiat/Abarth/Lancia driver yet only ever Röhrl gets mentioned because he is a louder character.
petrolicious videos used to be at heart of the driver. there are enough videos of lancia delta integrale''s specs & history.
It still is a very special car, I drove the first one which came with only 186hp in this era lag was a normal thing, once it enters the turbo at 3000rpm it clearly transforms especially when you activate the overboost function. Although reliability was a pretty big issue, taking in consideration that the valves had to be maintained every 5000km. For the 90's indeed a giant killer.
my most favorite car😍
Stellt doch bitte ''Chris Runge '' vor , er ist ein Artist im Auto - Bau !!!
Design at it's perfection.
I had that joy having it and its regret get it sold
Me gusta el ruido de ese motor una Maravilla, SUPER el mejor del mundo
my all time favorite
The two door version is amazing
A friend had a mint yellow evo 2,he swore he'd never sell it...In his own words he kept getting dafter and dafter offers until he'd be crazy to refuse..more than doubled his money.
Oh no, the image quality! And to think we had to PAY to see this.
a final edition version just like this in the video (250 made) has just been sold at an auction for 238.000 english pounds.. (250.000 €), another even more limited version (50 made) was sold some years ago for 300.000 €
fabulous design
Absolute legend 🏆
Confermo... Assoluta!
Best job ever
Nice video, but why does everybody make it as if the HF 4WD was a reaction to the ban of group B when is was actually introduced just before the ban and the drama that led to the ban.
And now a story about the fulvia HF and the saga is complete
Why does no one ever say that most of the successes mentioned were achieved by the 8V and 16V versions and not the EVO's?
Colours are a bit fucked
Probably, the must fun car I have ever driven.
A scritto la storia questa macchina sarà per sempre la Regina delle auto da Rally 💪💪💪😍😍😍😍😍😍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
The beast !
un capolavoro
Dream car...
the colour 😍
Any chance of a feature on the mighty Centura ?
Should have added some photos/videos of the other Lancias you talked about.
Make Lancia great again!!
Not a content we want from this channel, as simple as that!
Sam is an excellent presenter but i'd prefer him talking to the owner, asking questions about that specific cars history whilst we see video of the car itself.
I was looking forward to this being a massive fan and owner of an evo2. CarBro's would do a better job.
Excellent, but why so dark image?!
Defo in my 10 car garage.
Shot in Ispra, Italy 😊
I was looking for the location, grazie ;)
No, it's Castelveccana next to Scuola nautica Caldé. 😎
@@frankpeutz9106 ah yea true that i said the wrong one close by lol
L'ansia delta integrali
Phenomenal car basically it's like if Ferrari built a road going rally car they go for Big big money now
I honestly think it is way ahead of a Ferrari of the same era (348). It has seriously competitive acceleration times with it yet manages to have the space of a door hatch, is on a completely different level to the Ferrari on a wet or bad road (ie off road....).
Final Edition, also known as Collezione. However, not the only special edition as there are a Club Italia edition and about 5 Martini editions, each for every rally championship won. That if i don't forgot any more specials.
2 martini specials... m5 and m6....
@@peterjennings8258 those were just 2? I thought there were 5 and, sounded like a lot to me! 2 different editions/batches are more reasonable actually.
@@Sammael66685 yep Martini 5 ..400 cars sold late 91 to celebrate 5 years of wrc victory... and Martini 6.. sold in 92 .slightly fewer than m5... can't remember the exact number without getting a book out... but around 380. Subtly different graphics on each... Black interior in M5... blue in M6. Both are based on EVO 1s eg no Catalysts in exhaust.
Verde York evo1/2 blue lagos evo2, bianco Perletto evo2, dealers collection evo2. Giallo Ferrari evo 1, giallo ginestra evo2. Loads of special editions!
Like because of the car, unLike because of the new concept....If you ain't familiar with that story he told, you ain't a petrol head not near.
Very soon to be a million dollar car
