I love you guys so much. Your competitive camaraderie is such a pleasure to behold. I’d love to be a guest sometime in the future if you do those sorts of things!? As an owner of a 911 992 C4s I have to say I’m just scratching the surface of its hidden powers.
I didn't expect the ZL1 to even be close, so this test was an impresseive show for Chevrolet. Especially cost considered.
quick reminder: this was basically the "base" 992... Just imagine GT3's, turbos etc..
911 or 992, no 991
@Fishermanguy44 Quick reminder that if price is your best argument against it then it's clear they did a damn good job
meh the 911 s makes more horsepower and torque than an NA gt3, if you want proof, look at the 991.2 gt3, a 992 won't get much better, same HP
Also, gt3 is a track car. It's nearly illegal to even talk about it performing on a drag strip and then being suprised that it lost
Give it the GT3’s against the exorcist... easy clap

I mean all things considered, the price gap and the weight difference but the Camaro still is able to keep up is insane
Bro the only thing that is insane is the fact that the camaro has 200+hp more and still lost.It shouldn't keep up it should destroy that porsche
@@dimitris9573 horsepower is the only thing that matters. We got an expert here.
@@PQ28120 it isn't like a 20-30 hp gap,it is 200+ wich makes the result amazing
@@dimitris9573bro, porsche is lying about the numbers, and has 500lbs less in weight, and has better aero for straight line speed. camaro would eat it on a track tho
@@eudhdddbdhd it would what??😂😂🤣🤣😂😂
Porsche engineering is untouchable. Keep up the awesome videos. Greetings from South Africa
It's all that heavy cash you have left in your pocket after buying the Camaro that is slowing you down.
Id rather have less cash and be in front lol
😂😂😂
American cars have so much cheap plastic I feel like I’m at a recycling center
Actually the guy buying a Camaro is buying that because he infact doesn't have anymore cash tbh
supaahflyy LMAO I don’t own a American car or anything. But why must someone be broke to buy one lol? Why can’t people buy what car they want😂. Calling someone broke bc they buy a Camaro when u don’t own EITHER is stupid lmao
Two of my all time favorite. Different demographic, same mission, a million smiles per liter.
Mentions being on the toilet, quickly glaces around room to find the cameras.
The fact that they are even comparing a Porsche and a canary is a compliment to a comaro
Ah yes, canary and comaro
You guys are steadily becoming my favorite car channel! Love the new 992, definitely my next porsche!!!
Hagerty is the only other doing the same stuff.. Maybe carwow.
You guys at throttle house do an awesome job and love the videos. Your next one should be getting that Porsche Carrera s on a Dyno and see how much power that thing is punching out
2:09 How did you know I was on the toilet?!
It’s that time of day and what so many guys do on the toilet! Among other things! Lol 😝
Bruh….scary accurate lol
I think that spoiler was the difference. It creates a lot of drag at high speeds. Considering that both cars were staying side by side, removing that drag would’ve made all the difference
I was like "oh nice 650 HP on the Camero. Fair fight with the Turbo S"
And then I realized this is just a Carrera S
Turbo S is at the top of the food chain.
The Porsche 911 is a historic car....
And I think that the figures of the Porsche is at the wheels not the engine and that's a BIG difference.....
The 911 line is only 3 years older than the camaro line....
@@ryanrosser7916 but the 911 always pushes the boundaries of sports cars to the limit...
@@sherif.ghoneim I think what you’re trying to say is that the Porsche is more refined. They’re the same age and current models have similar performance but the Porsche is a little more buttoned up.
@@ryanrosser7916 yes Porsche is more refined with amazing driving dynamics
Its giving 522hp at the crank
“Black ice” was used but you didn’t use the Porsche sport response button? Let’s be fair. 😂
Isn't black ice a giveaway for a salvage car? Now we know what went wrong. Good catch
The over boost probably take the carrera 4 to 500hp and 600Nm
Porsche is hiding something in that flat 6 engine!
Probably a V12
@@amenallaharfaouisomething more I guess, on carwow drag test, the big brother of it, the turbo s even beats ferrari 812 superfast, mclaren 720s, & lambo aventador svj. I think there are only 2 cars that can beat porsche; koenigsegg & bugatti.
The Porsche is AWD and is rear engine configuration. Rear engine cars have superior acceleration off the line. Also, the Porsche has a pdk transmission which is much quicker than the Zl1s traditional torque converter automatic transmission.
Probably making more than 450HP anyway.
Yeah no doubt. Double clutch transmissions don't suffer loss of power and suffer less drivetrain power than torque converter automatic transmissions.
I too was on the toilet when James asked for my support. Can't say I've been more fulfilled in my life.
6:15 Supercharger vs Turbo... I find it ironic that Porsche’s began experimenting with turbocharged racing cars in the Sixties even though GMC practically invented Turbocharging at the top of Pikes peak when Sandford Moss, head engineer of General Motors, used the thin air at Pike’s summit to test the application of turbochargers on aircraft engines in the early 1900s. Porsche has virtually eliminated turbo lag with small electric motors (prespool technology), which get the turbos spinning before you jump on the throttle.
"And I'm James" is the "And Peggy" of automotive UA-cam. He's just so happy to be there. Makes me giggle every time.
I hate myself for getting this joke, but they do carry the same energy tho
“ All i hear is i lost i lost i lost “ 🤣
YALL BETTER STOP DISRESPECTING BLACK ICE DAMMIT.
he only lost because the black ice adds 60HP per tree and he struggled to put the power down
🤣😂🤣😂
see this is why in many ways i like Throttle Dudes even MORE than the Straight Pipers. these guys do more than just reviews but get into the nitty gritty of PERFORMANCE. but no doubt both are hilarious and entertaining.
I’ve got an A10 ZLE & actually just ran with one in an HPDE at CMP. Tough to tell being different drivers, but he gave up on trying to keep up around the track & told me how fast my car was lol. Definitely a bad ass car though & he wasn’t giving it all it had by any means.
The 911 is also so much more aerodynamic, especially with that wing on the Camaro.
Porsche under reports their hp figures. The way they perform just defies what they report
there is more to the performance of a car than horsepower.
@@ObieStill27 while I agree hp still makes a difference. The Porsche beats many exotics that have higher stated hp figures.
@@drsolar actually porsche doesn't lie about power ratings. rear engine makes all the difference. no driveshaft no cv joint losses and main advantage: 60% weight over rear wheels
Pissed off at loss.. man.. always remember this.. turbos are always better than super chargers..
Also OHCs respond better to turbos than OHVs too cuz much more control to exhaust
User996 they do lie tho lol, check the Dyno numbers. Many other companies lie too tho, especially all the German companies. It’s not that big of a deal tho
We all know those pine air fresheners added the weight that held the Camaro back
How did you know I am on the toilette?? You have my support James!
To those that know that to get the best from that ZL1, you must shift at higher rpm in manual mode using the paddles. That auto trans shifts to early for max performance.
Yeah Lexus auto does the same at higher gears
Love how you guys properly pronounce ZL1
Maybe TMI, but I was on the toilet cheering on James.
When u said the toilet line I lifted my arm off my thigh and liked the video
What fuel was the zl1 on? The 650 rating is only on a proper 93 octane fuel. Not sure how much is lost on 91. May not have made a difference either way but it is useful info to know
@My26thAccountLOL LOL
Except all the testing basically puts it on par with the zl1 numbers. Similar trap and et in the 1/4 mile tested by multiple sources. I own a 2018 zl1 and all I have always respected porsche I actually really want a new gt4. All I want to know is what fuel was used to put the results in perspective.
Porsche - $117,000
ZL1 - under $80,000
572 Copo Camaro - $105,000
572 Copo Camaro would like to have a word with Porsche.
Not sure I believe the roll race results given the difference in the 1/4 mile trap speeds of both cars. The Zl1 should steadily pull away from a roll. Both are great cars.
2019 Camaro 11.4 sec @ 127 mph
2020 Carrera S 11.2 sec @ 123.8 mph
well, at least the ZL1 is about half the price of the porsche...
doesn't come close to Porsche's racing and luxury abilities tho. However for straight lining it, yes - go for the ZL1
Basically every american vs german car
@@kwk43 you're wrong ... the z1l lays down crazy fast lap times ... dare i say faster than a 911s i think. Don't get me wrong, i love porsche ... i have a 718 Cayman S...
Yep.... and I know people hate going down the “well if I mod it road”.... but I bet you could get the ZL1 to EASILY stomp the Porsche for less than a grand in mods.
@@robertburton8055 Every Porsche is sprinkled with a little magic dust or something. The 718 Cayman S has got to be the easiest car for a novice to go fast... it's absolutely incredible. However, the bang for your buck money with the ZL1 is off the charts.... and if you add in the 1LE package im pretty sure it spanks with porsche in a skilled drivers hands.
Yo I was dying when he said...all I'm hearing is I lost, I lost, I lost LMAO 🤣 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Great video guys. The Porsche Carrera is a gorgeous car and quick too. I however am a muscle car guy and I own a 2019 2SS 1LE Camaro, which I absoluelty love. For me I love the pure sound of muscle cars with big V8 engines. If I could afford a Porsche I would own one, as they are phenomenal cars, particularly the GT3 RS. For now, its Camaro for me!
Give credit when credit is due hat's off to the camaro for the effort it put.
All I hear James saying is, "I almost had you."
Almost had me......you never had your car
Those cars are not “neck and neck all things considered” since the 911 fairly won every time.
How about a car closer to the price now? 2019 zr1 if you can go find one that you can play with.
The price per mile counts - you pay more for the 911, but you also get more for it if you sale it. At the end you are also better of (price per mile) with a 911 as with a Vette.
Porsche, you simply get what you pay for
That Carrera S is very impressive. Also thanks for the laughs. Great video.
