Whether at the beach or indoors, I'm very afraid of the ball when blocking. I'm worried about my fingers. Can't look up either, think I'll get the ball in my face. That's why I jump up blindly, eyes closed, head down (and mostly too early or too late)... of course that won't work. How can I solve this problem? How to get rid of this fear? What can I do?
1. Make ur fingers hard and imagine power going through your arms. 2. Before the game starts spike the ball into the net to see if the net bends (so u can trust that the ball can’t reach your face). 3. You should be at the top of your block jump when the spiker hits the ball. I’m on the shorter side so I have to match the timing very well. Good Luck!
The fear of getting hit in the face completely disappeared after the 3rd time i got my face hit by a full power spike that went under the net, so my tip is get hit in the face just so you get used to it. This is a really stupid tip (and some might advice against it) but it worked for me.
