Did you check the battery charge status before embarking into the starter replacement? To me, the sound you got in the beginning was typical of a flat battery.

I cannot get mine out. I have disassembled all you did but the starter is stuck somewhere. Pulling my last bit of hair out.
As long as you have removed the hardware holding it in from the left side, give it a little wiggle and it should come right out. Thanks for watching!

Not the entire exhaust, but the rear cylinder....yes. Otherwise, it would be next to impossible to get the starter out. Thanks for watching!
