      I never rated the 430 much at the time: when it was new it felt to me like a failed attempt at making the Ferrari 360 look a little bit newer, with added angular design cues from a Hyundai Coupe of the time...
      And I hate hate hate the rear lights design where it looks like theyre almost about to fall out of the rear of the cars. It took way too long for Ferrari to give up that design "feature" :(
      Gotta admit: Apart from the tail lighits, the 430 has grown on me though... I wouldnt call it timeless but it still kind of does look contemporary still.

      It's also technically correct. Basically anything that moves using an electric motor is classed as an "electric vehicle" and it's the reason EV fire statistics are so high. When your neighbour's knock-off e-bike he got from Wish inevitably self-combusts, it counts as an electric vehicle fire.

    Thanks Doug. A master Ferrari Independent near me said a manual f430 is the closing chapter of the Ferrari era before the computers took over. The official Ferrari main dealer in my city who’s senior mechanic recently won Ferrari mechanic of the year told me “the manual f430 is the best road Ferrari, its handling, feel, engine sound, steering and its straight forward to work on. In the workshop amongst all the engineers it’s our favourite of all Ferraris” and added… “hell, even the paint quality is unequaled”. I’m fortunate to own a manual coupe and am of course biased to agree because it’s amazing.

      @@charleydrummond8789 Nah. This isn't blasphemy. This is making a great sports car even better. All the people who've driven a manual or manual-swapped F430 agree it's the better version of the car.
      Also, there's nothing obsolete about a stick shift on a sports car of all things. A lot of people want manuals back on these things and think the move to paddle shifters was a mistake. And that's cause you're driving a sports car to have fun and be engaged with driving. Is flicking your pinky to shift more fun and engaging than rev matching and heel and toeing? Why care at all that a paddle shifter is tenths of a second faster when you're mostly gonna be driving a sports car on the road, not on track? And heck, even on track, ESPECIALLy on track, a manual is so much more fun.

    I am good friends with the owner of this exact model and have been fortunate enough to have driven it before the gated manual was swapped in. This car has an absolute presence like no other car I've ever seen. The exhaust note is superb, whether you're in the driver's seat or outside the vehicle. While the exhaust is loud, I personally feel that it just adds to the head-turning power that the car has in a good way. The ride is amazing, and when I put my foot down and the nose rose up and the car squatted slightly on the rear axle and started howling its way toward 60 mph, the sheer happiness generated by this process is indescribable. From the outside, the car is absolutely gorgeous, and sitting in the driver's seat is what I imagine sitting on the back of an Italian race horse would feel like. Ferrari scored with this one for sure. If I could afford this car, I'd have it in my garage before you could say "quirks and features."

    Love my 430. I haven’t done the manual swap, but I’ve driven both a stock manual and a manual swap. Personally, I really think the F1 transmission is underrated. Yes, it’s a little sluggish from 1st to 2nd, but that’s about it. And it’s only “sluggish” if you’re thinking of it like a normal automatic. But the reality is it’s not really shifting any slower than 95% of people would. And in higher gears, it’s just as fast if not faster. The little kicks you get are great too, much more exciting than a dual clutch. Now that the manual swaps are getting easier and more affordable (it’s about $10k and you can DIY), there should be no reason to value the stock manuals so much higher than the F1 autos. Seriously, the swaps feel exactly the same, because technically it is. I considered the swap, but I think I’ll keep the F1 system until it craps out one day. Also, you can make these cars sound epic… go to my channel and listen to any of my newer videos… New exhaust sounds awesome.

    • @matthewpizzi8263
      @matthewpizzi8263 6 місяців тому +1

      The idea of F1 manuals being sluggish is so over done. Maybe the 355 with an F1 is sluggish, but even if the 360 it shifts faster than a human.. and is very mechanical feeling. The F430 is more crisp, but still mechanical. The new stuff while widely fast is kind of video-game-ish to me.

    I remember when I first saw an F430 at a racetrack. That sound as it accelerated into the track's straightaway will be burned into my brain forever. Genuinely sounded like a spaceship accelerating to warp speed - at least, what I'd want one to sound like. I got the opportunity to ride in a Huracan that day. Incredible car to be sure - I kinda prefer it to the F430 - but it didn't sound even close to as good.

    Dang it Doug.... now people will try to get into this market too lol. The F430 is the bargain of the century, and 6 speed conversions are commonly available. You can do the conversion and keep the original parts to revert back to the paddles if you want to. I bought a F430 spyder in Canada for just over half the price of a 458 spyder. Although the 458 has a higher redline, the F430 has more charm to it and the perfect amount of power to have fun every time you take it out.

    The F430 is drive by wire. The 355 was the last V8 Ferrari with a mechanical connection to the throttle peddle. James May had a silver f430. I'm really not a fan of the f430 design. It's way too cluttered. The 360 and 355 looks better. The front of the 430 is designed to hark back to the "shark nose" F1 Ferrari's of the 60's. It's called a 430 because the engine is 4.3 liters. I am a huge fan of manual transmissions. Hoovie had his Ferrari 599 converted by "Normal guy supercars" to a manual. I really hope that demand for manual transmission cars grows in the coming years. I know manual transmission Murcielago's now command a premium over the flappy paddle ones. Thank you.

      Pretty much any manual from that era (and even newer ones, see Porsche GT3s) commands a premium over auto because they don’t suck like single clutch autos, automated manuals, and early DCTs, and they arent convoluted machines that tend to incur extremely expensive repair bills like almost every auto in an exotic car

    I love the F430 Spider, but styling wise it was completely outclassed by it's predecessor. The 360 Spider has aged magnificently well. Yeah sure the 430 had a more aggressive approach, but the 360 just oozes sex-appeal. I may be a little biased here, since the 360 Spider is my all time favourite Ferrari. Point is. It's a 24yrld design, and it still turns heads. The 360 aged like fine wine.
