Which, that precedent was already set by Mando's N1, which CLEARLY has a protruding engine *directly* under the Droid Pod. Great video Alan! Been watching your stuff for years and just realized I was not subscribed! I fixed that. I love this ship and it is on my list of "ships I would cruise the galaxy in if it were real!
I wonder about the massive VOLUME of the wings. No sophisticated modern real world aircraft fails to take advantage of wing volume for fuel or something. And these wings are massive. One would think a better design would have been to locate the engines in the wings rather than using main hull space. To me, the wings represent nothing but exaggerated vulnerability to collision or hostile fire.
Just had a thought. Ahsoka purified her crystals, making them white. In the scene where Luke first ignites Anakin's sabre the blade is white (at least in older editions). So therefore I posit that Obi Wan purified the crystal which is why neither Luke nor Rey sensed the children Anakin killed. The crystal went blue again after bonding with Luke. It even makes sense for Obi Wan to purify the blade for Luke, hell he may have needed to clense the blade for his own sake.
I would note, compared to the original during the Clone Wars, Ahsoka’s has a 4th engine, increasing its speed and maneuverability, a tail gun, allowing for some defensive return fire, and better shielding, as it was able to withstand the fighter attack AND turbo lasers during the mission on Denab. So Ashoka obviously remembered her experiences on previous missions using older versions and installed some much needed upgrades.
How common is the rotating wings? Because the mandalorians seems to have developed it too, albeit separately. Like how it is believed the wheel was invented twice, in Asia and west of Asia, around the same time.
Well the Roche Asteroids, where Slayn Korpil are based, aren't that far away galactically from Mandalore. Additionally, Mandalorians do tend to take on useful parts of other cultures they conquer. This wouldn't even be the first case of mandalorians, or at least a few specific ones, singing the praises of Verpine engineering. Lots of fans of their sniper rifles.
Unlike Ahsoka's brief cameos in The Mandalorian, her own show seems to require prior knowledge of the "Rebels" animated series (75 episodes + 4 shorts).
Not really. Ahsoka is in the rebel series only a handful of episodes. You need to know it nor to understand Sabine maybe but it looks like they're changing her character enough that her backstory in Rebels is not as relevant. I think it was quite a shock for people to see ahsoka in mandalorian especially with Luke. Anyone who just watched the movies assumed there were no Jedi besides Luke after return of the Jedi. But now there's this very strong, older and wiser force-weilder around to give him advice and support? Where the heck was she after Empire?
@@JenniferKokoski I have now watched all the Rebels episodes, and yes, you do need to see it to understand Sabine, Ezra Bridger and Thrawn. It also explains who Hera is to the group. There are a lot of questions, like why Sabine lives on Lothal, and not with Hera, Bo-Katan or Clan Wren? When and why did Ahsoka Tano take on Sabine as a padawan, and does Sabine have some Force abilities? During Rebels, Sabine showed no Force abilities that Kanan Jarrus recognized even during Dark Saber training, but she was very undisciplined.
The bouncing ball ejection seats were, irl, most likely inspired by the landing system of the Spirit and Opportunity Mars rovers, which inflated and bounced like beach balls when they hit the surface of Mars.
With the engines, main quarters and cockpit being in the center fuselage... the wings don't look to serve much purpose. I guess similar to the Lambda-class Imperial Shuttle and the U-Wing, the wings could house the repulsors needed to get the ship off the ground and the shield generators needed for defense.
it's the rule of cool taken to the ridiculous... all these things you mention are shown to be able to fit in way smaller packages... To me this is one of the worst ship designs in terms of sensibilities...
Dude said the wings could get jammed, and one voice line immediately popped into my head. The male American voice commander in world of tanks (if you play the game you already know the line) "Turret jammed! The turret's working now but be gentle with it"
If you need an idea for a video could you do a comparison between Morgan Elsbeth and Meirin from Jedi: Survivor. Both night sisters and both survived the massacre, one used the pain of that tragedy to inflict pain on others while the other chose to try and stop anyone from experiencing what she did.
The T6 seems to have the flaw that the inside is way bigger than the outside allows. (time index 3:46) The U-wing was no big ship, not even having separate crew quarters. That meeting room is huge in the cut-scenes. Compare the size of the cockpit to the meeting room. It's shows well that the ship would not fit its interior.
it not having weapons kinda makes sense for jedi before the clone wars or even ambassadors they aren't there to end lives or cause problems also times were more peaceful for the most part. i also just noticed that there is a turret on the back in the last few clips you showed from the ahsoka show so it seems it's been modified to have defenses.
Judging by the pictures of the official LEGO set (called "LEGO® Star Wars 75362 Ahsoka Tanos T-6 Jedi Shuttle") it also has two canons mounted on the wings right next to the cockpit, but the prior iteration "LEGO Star Wars T-6 Jedi Shuttle 7931" which looks like it's meant to be the shuttle that Anakin crashed also included two rocket launchers as part of the main hull so the new LEGO set including those canons must be taken with a grain of salt
5:20 there is a large discrepancy between the mass of the cockpit and the wings. it would make sense for a cockpit which might only include armour, electronics and the pilot, with everything else in the body of the starfighter, but wings which probably include fuel, cargo, radiators, are different. not to mention it being longer which means more force needed to rotate the damn thing.
I see a lot of mod possibilities transforming the T6 into a competent assault ship. Four foreward turbolaser cannons and shield generator pods would look good on it's rotating wing.
I wanted to make an interactive 3D model of Ahsokas T6 ship. It’s not the best looking inside but I managed to make. However my problem was that I couldn’t understand how she had all the interior space and I’m trying to fit everything in a narrow space. What I didn’t understand is that her ship is different than the typical Jedi T6/T9. The one I made has the wings attached to the rear and thrusters while ahsoka wings are attached to the neck, allowing the rest of the body to be expanded.
The rotating wings would most likely require a gear drive at most perhaps even an electro-magnetic drive, but when it comes to maintenance for such things the trick is to use them as little as possible, maybe some lube-changes.
If it were up to me , Ahsoka Would have had a highly modified customised CR90 , with star fighter like capabilities and role than a Cargo corvette role . With a Hanger ofcourse for Ahsokas Starfighter and gunships and shuttles , mostly a newer specially designed stealth (not cloaking) heavy Jedi starfighter , An Nubian fast attack craft (gunship) and some other capable starfighters (x wing ) and a squadron of modified tri droids , a synthetic kyber crystal beam laser at prow , and a effective laser ion defence and offensive Torpedoes missile systems etc , and dark mode too
I’ll admit to not being a huge SW nerd, so forgive what’s likely a dumb question lol. But why does this ship not have a dedicated astro-mech? Do ships of this size not need them?
Yea basically astromechs are for calculating hyperspace jumps and on smaller starfighters you usually don’t have large nav computers installed, some fighters don’t even have hyperdrives. This shuttle is built for transport so it most likely has a powerful ship computer
Having been a Star Wars fan practically my whole life, I have never understood the design of a lot of the ships. If this ship was horizontal, and not vertical, I would really dig it. However, this (like the B-wing) is just weird
This ship has more plot armor than the Millenium Falcon. The fighters shooting at it in the last episode were apparently armed with rapid firing laser pens . . .
I like the t-6 but I feel like the engines should be on the wings and what if both sides of the wings could also shift up and down and not just rotate, this could provide increased maneuverability by adjusting the engines position to point in any direction. Then there would be more room inside the ship for more power generation for weapons and shields or more room for the cabins spaces and the body should be more cone like so that you have all the space used in those corners on the out side of the body could be used for fuel storage, increased power generation, and the bottom corners could act as storage spaces like a ground speeder bikes and other plant gear and just extra storage. Can have high grade cannons on the wings or just around the front of the body and add proton torpedo launchers at the front of the bottom body or on the wings and I like that rear turret gunner spot to protect against enemies behind you
And WHY the variable wing position? Oh, to confuse its enemy. (SERIOUSLY?) No, yea, no... for greater lift during atmospheric re-entry. (Then why not keep the wings in that position permanently - as wings in space make no sense.) Oh, well, that's because it is a MYSTERY SHIP. (Come on - MAN! Don't get dementia on me in the middle of the conversation...) REAL REASON: It loos cool to see it spin, man.
The shuttle Palpatine used was not the Eta-class, it was a Theta-class T-2c shuttle. It just shares a similar design because it was made by the same manufacturer as the Lambda and Eta (as well as Sentinel, Nu, and Omicron).
I am sure a shield unit could be installed just was not in told to any when it was bought though it would still be cool to have one. who knows it could be used to help in smuggling.
The wing turning horizontal to produce more lift is completely pointless in the Star Wars universe. As you have stated previously, they are not really wings, they're basically radiators. In space, with no atmosphere, wings don't produce lift at all. And in the atmosphere, all ships in Star Wars hover in place effortlessly, making wings of any kind irrelevant. So of all the reasons there could be for the S foils of this craft to rotate, producing lift is not one of them.
Since they're heading into the Unknown Regions, will this ended up led to the first formal contact between the Galactic Republic and the Chiss Ascendancy?
Who can say. Disney still hasn’t made peace with the fact that Disney Star Wars = Legends and the Expanded Universe = Cannon. When they figure it out their stock prices will start going up and their spin-off series might attract enough audience for a second season. Maybe. Lot of damage control to do between now and then. Here’s hoping they’ve wised up enough to include the Chiss Ascendancy without any screw ups.
A retractable table.. the idea is really cool... but, the germs and dirt and other things creatures of all sorts would bring in on the soles of footwear would be gross. Maybe the table has some sort of invisible shield on it to protect it against floor gunk. Or, use the force to wash it clean before use.
I think we have seen enough light-saber stab wounds to merit a comparison and if they were survivable or not. I'd love to see an analysis of the stabby deaths in Star Wars, ie. Qui-Gon, the inquisitor, Reva and now Sabine. To me it seems like consistancy is out the window. again.....
I always assume that the backwater planets jedi generally do their business on have scrapyards where they use the force to assemble hodgepodges of hulls and engines, obviously she started with a T6 and had to modify it to get it running.
I don't think ships in Star Wars factor in lift when it comes to flying. Especially considering that ships can essentially just hover. Like when you showed her ship docked in the vertical configuration
The thing I don't like about this ship is the size of that wing. It's only the script that allows the pilot to find a space to land. Traffic has to be routed around it so other people can find parking spots.
Doing something just because of how it looks is one thing but taking into account the species of the designers is why people love lore so much. I constantly go back to Conan and Robert E Howard. He wrote a universe and creation story for the planet and people before the story. This is going along the same lines. It is sad that creators don't understand this.
So what do the wings do besides rotate around the shuttle? I mean at least for fighters the thin wings could be useful as cooling fins. So do the wings carry excess fuel like modern aircraft? For those who don't know in Most planes the fuel tanks are the wings. Wings are closest to the engines typically. My question because if the wings serve no function except mass and rotation then why have the additional mass for construction and to reduce the efficacy of the engines. Like if the front edge held weapon emplaces or additional thrusters (and fuel) then sure.
Well Repulsors to lift the thing, shield generators, i´m almost sure Ahsoka put some aftermarket weapons in. You could even put some room for freight you don´t need inflight in it.
It can't be SO unique. Unique is an absolute, something is either unique or it is not, there is no gradation. Unique: completely original, one of a kind.
An idea for a future video might be how/why Huyang now works for/takes orders from Ahsoka since she now has no official ties to the order and thus no authority to ask anything of it (Heck, technically Baylon might actually have that kind of authority). It might also be fun to discuss what would happen if it underwent a routine memory wipe too.

It's my experience that cargo holds, not the central meeting area are for romance.
The bouncing ball ejection seats were, irl, most likely inspired by the landing system of the Spirit and Opportunity Mars rovers, which inflated and bounced like beach balls when they hit the surface of Mars.
I love your videos. I know you said t6 has no weapons and ahsoka t6 has ball turret just above the engine so that after market upgarde.
Sounds like a tiny AT-AT battle going on outside and it just adds to the video!
I hope Alan makes multiple videos per episode, it will help get me to the next episode in the series.
I once had an '87 924s. Loved those pop-up headlights. Yeah, it was red.
It's Eta, like the letter from the Greek alphabet. It's not initials. It doesn't stand for Estimated Time of Arrival shuttle.
I'd love it if you would do a video on the Stinger Mantis from Jedi Fallen Order and Jedi Survivor. That has some neat features as well.
it not having weapons kinda makes sense for jedi before the clone wars or even ambassadors they aren't there to end lives or cause problems also times were more peaceful for the most part. i also just noticed that there is a turret on the back in the last few clips you showed from the ahsoka show so it seems it's been modified to have defenses.
Most likely those ejector pods must also have internal dampers.
Ship makes me think of the MISC Reliant, especially that rotating wing.
The Reliant does have an unique look to it. I honestly would love to own a Millennium Falcon level modified Tana in real life.
I see a lot of mod possibilities transforming the T6 into a competent assault ship. Four foreward turbolaser cannons and shield generator pods would look good on it's rotating wing.
This ship reminded me of the Diamond Class cruiser of the CIS. 😁
Wonder if the Rusty Eagle (Rebel infantry transport) from SW: Force Commander was also designed by Slayn & Korpil
The one I made has the wings attached to the rear and thrusters while ahsoka wings are attached to the neck, allowing the rest of the body to be expanded.
love the idea of people walking all over mytable and seats, very hygienic
That table must be sooo dirty from everyone walking on it....
The rotating wings would most likely require a gear drive at most perhaps even an electro-magnetic drive, but when it comes to maintenance for such things the trick is to use them as little as possible, maybe some lube-changes.
Well made video !
If it were up to me , Ahsoka Would have had a highly modified customised CR90 , with star fighter like capabilities and role than a Cargo corvette role . With a Hanger ofcourse for Ahsokas Starfighter and gunships and shuttles , mostly a newer specially designed stealth (not cloaking) heavy Jedi starfighter , An Nubian fast attack craft (gunship) and some other capable starfighters (x wing ) and a squadron of modified tri droids , a synthetic kyber crystal beam laser at prow , and a effective laser ion defence and offensive Torpedoes missile systems etc , and dark mode too
Lol what? That's way too much for a personal craft what you described sounds like a flagship 😂
The rebels Vader design is also based off the OG drawings.
I like all the walking and looking at stuff in the series...gives it that Bert I. Gordon feel...walking and looking the tv show.😂
Having been a Star Wars fan practically my whole life, I have never understood the design of a lot of the ships. If this ship was horizontal, and not vertical, I would really dig it. However, this (like the B-wing) is just weird
This ship has more plot armor than the Millenium Falcon. The fighters shooting at it in the last episode were apparently armed with rapid firing laser pens . . .
Love this ship! Whatever happened to British and American Ben?
Right on bro excellent
The rotating wing does still seem like overcomplicated design without much reason, but I suppose Star Wars has a lot of that and it is a cool design.
So are the bad guys building a hyper drive ring to fit a star destroyer? That would be dope
(SERIOUSLY?)
No, yea, no... for greater lift during atmospheric re-entry. (Then why not keep the wings in that position permanently - as wings in space make no sense.)
Oh, well, that's because it is a MYSTERY SHIP. (Come on - MAN! Don't get dementia on me in the middle of the conversation...)
REAL REASON: It loos cool to see it spin, man.
The shuttle Palpatine used was not the Eta-class, it was a Theta-class T-2c shuttle. It just shares a similar design because it was made by the same manufacturer as the Lambda and Eta (as well as Sentinel, Nu, and Omicron).
Those rotating wings would be a maintenance nightmare.
All sci-fi shows/films/games have spaceships with weird designs.
Star Trek
Babylon 5
Firefly
Halo
Eve Online
Elite Dangerous
Star Wars especially.
If you dont like pop up lights on cars I guess you dont like KITT's Super Pursuit Mode?
I am sure a shield unit could be installed just was not in told to any when it was bought though it would still be cool to have one. who knows it could be used to help in smuggling.
Me and the Jedi goon squad: out committing war crimes
T-6 S Foils get stuck: another happy landing
It all leads up to the hated sequals...Most people do NOT care...Why does Disney not get that message???
I need to see a schematic of the T6, idk how they have all that room.
I think we have seen enough light-saber stab wounds to merit a comparison and if they were survivable or not. I'd love to see an analysis of the stabby deaths in Star Wars, ie. Qui-Gon, the inquisitor, Reva and now Sabine. To me it seems like consistancy is out the window. again.....
consistency? in my science fantasy space fairytale about space wizard-knights? i think not!
Disney does have a consistency problem. They’re consistently bad.
A few heavy blaster cannons or lasers would be very useful... ambassador ship or not.
I always assume that the backwater planets jedi generally do their business on have scrapyards where they use the force to assemble hodgepodges of hulls and engines, obviously she started with a T6 and had to modify it to get it running.
Ahsoka smartly added weapon systems to hers..
I just picked up the microfleet version of this ship
Fun fact, Palpatine could never truly be disarmed. Even if you cut his arms off, he’ll just shoot force lightning out of his face.
'Tis but a scratch!
4:30 no way that air locked at the bottom lol it’s on a lip of the ship
T6 reminds me of the real world G6 nomenclature for private jets
I don't think ships in Star Wars factor in lift when it comes to flying. Especially considering that ships can essentially just hover. Like when you showed her ship docked in the vertical configuration
I'm happy I get to watch Ahsoka
The thing I don't like about this ship is the size of that wing. It's only the script that allows the pilot to find a space to land. Traffic has to be routed around it so other people can find parking spots.
Reminds me of the B-wing that Hera flew in rebels
Doing something just because of how it looks is one thing but taking into account the species of the designers is why people love lore so much.
I constantly go back to Conan and Robert E Howard. He wrote a universe and creation story for the planet and people before the story. This is going along the same lines. It is sad that creators don't understand this.
i thought the moncalimari developed the b-wing....... i stand corrected lol
No you’re actually right it was designed by a mon calamari but manufacturer by slayn &korpil
What truly bothers me is the table that comes off the floor.
9:52 i think i see a rear-facing turret (twin laser?)
She was not a Jar Kai practitioner. She was a Form 5 Shien practitioner who used two blades. She used the reverse grip.
Huyang has never had his memory wiped in over 500 years
Well maybe he just thought about it and placed Ahsoka as as close to the jedi as they come nowadays
I thought the V-19 torrent, Z-95 headhunter, ARC-170, T-65/70/75 X-Wing, and the E-Wing were all Incom built fighters.
ALLAN YOU NERF HERDER !!😝😝😝
ALLAN YOU ARE POO DOO SNIFFER !
Isn't it the ship Dooku and Qui Gon used in TOTJ
I thought it was because the StarWars Universe exist in a pouch on Batman’s utility belt.
Ahsoka would of done massive upgrades to the ship she would of learned it from her master
