I love them ALL , I have 4 different model motorcycles , I kept my 2007 Harley Heritage , and rode Harleys and Triumphs for more than 50 plus years . Harleys do make pretty bikes , but I have to say my Indian is more of a comfortible ride , a lot of Torque and it doesn't ride as hot as the harley . .

Congrats on the new Indian. I have been a Harley supporter for years. I finally had a motor problem with the M8 114 and they didn’t want to warranty their product. That was the initial reason for my swap over to Indian. Now that I have put a few thousand miles on it, I am hooked. Almost everything about it is better. I liked it so much that my wife traded her Harley for an Indian as well. I loved Harley. Harley cooperate made my decision for me.
    Ride safe friend.

Glad you like your dealership! You'll be spending lots and lots of money there trying to keep your bike running (unless you are not more than a weekend rider) after riding Indians for many years and about 200 thousand miles I will say this: Indians in stock condition will smoke most Harleys hands down!! Besides that...they never break! Trying riding a Harley like you stole it all day long in 120 degree heat...good chance something will fail and you'll look so cool sitting there on the shoulder. An Indian will handle that day after day, they are incredibly fast, and never break! Cheers to Polaris for building a super fast just add gas and change the oil kind of motorcycle

@@enriquemejia6697 Indian Recalls Motorcycles Over Crash Hazard
Every now and then, we hear about motorcycle recalls that may impact our readers and clients.
As a motorcycle rider myself, I believe that staying on top of the news regarding issues that may lead to accidents is important. In my personal injury law firm, we have helped countless riders who were involved in accidents caused by third parties that were negligent. Because motorcycle makers will sometimes ignore reports of issues and riders will be involved in accidents, it’s important that motorcycle owners are doing all they can to avoid accidents.
The latest motorcycle recall to have been reported impacts the Indian Motorcycles.
According to the reports, thousands of motorcycles are being recalled over a crash hazard.
Since the 2017 and 2018 Chief, Chief Classic, Chief Dark Horse, Chief Vintage, Chieftain, Chieftain Classic, Chieftain Dark Horse, Chieftain Elite, Chieftain Limited, Springfield, and Springfield Dark Horse motorcycles come with European-market instead of U.S.-market halogen headlight assemblies. Due to this mistake, the vehicles fail to meet U.S. federal standards for safety, and, as a result, the motorcycle’s visibility may be impacted, increasing the risk of an accident as a consequence.
Since this problem may lead to serious and even deadly consequences, the company has reported that all impacted vehicles will be inspected and any incorrect headlight assembly will be replaced entirely for free.
Indian has reported that it will be contacting impacted vehicle owners to have the issue addressed immediately. Thankfully, we haven’t learned of any serious or deadly accidents involving the recalled vehicles. Nevertheless, we urge riders with the recalled motorcycles to either wait until they get the recall notice to go to a dealer to have the issue addressed or to reach out to Indian directly to learn more about how you should proceed to have this issue addressed.
For more details on how to contact Indian, follow this link.

      @@enriquemejia6697 I-18-04 Indian Motorcycle® Bulletin
      5/16/2018
The following is a copy of the I-18-04 Consumer Letter. Vehicles affected by this bulletin will receive notification by mail to the address the vehicle is registered to. To check your VIN for open bulletins, please click here.
      Dear INDIAN MOTORCYCLE Owner:
This notice is sent to you in accordance with the requirements of the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act. INDIAN MOTORCYCLE has decided that a defect which relates to the motor vehicle safety exists in some 2018 Indian 111ci motorcycles. Our records indicate you have purchased a potentially affected vehicle.
      The reason for this recall:
INDIAN MOTORCYCLE has determined that some 2018 111ci models were manufactured with a right-hand switch cube assembly that does not meet quality standards. Affected switch cubes may develop corrosion within the Stop/Run/Start circuit. If the key fob is stored on or near the motorcycle and all other safety interlocks are met, this condition could lead to unintentional vehicle power-up or start sequence.
What INDIAN MOTORCYCLE and your dealer will do:
INDIAN MOTORCYCLE will issue a Safety Bulletin to all INDIAN MOTORCYCLE dealers, with instructions required to replace the right-hand switch cube with an updated version. Repairs will be made by any authorized INDIAN MOTORCYCLE dealers at no cost to you.
      What you should do:
Contact your authorized INDIAN MOTORCYCLE dealer to schedule an appointment to have the bulletin repair performed. Do not attempt repairs yourself. Repairs must be done only by an authorized INDIAN MOTORCYCLE dealer.
If you have questions or need more information:
While your INDIAN MOTORCYCLE dealer is in the best position to answer your questions, if you have any questions that your dealer cannot address, if you are having difficulty obtaining the repair outlined in this letter, or if you need assistance finding an INDIAN MOTORCYCLE dealer, please visit our website at www.indianmotorcycle.com or contact our INDIAN MOTORCYCLE Consumer Service Department by calling 877-204-3697.
If you believe that the dealer or INDIAN MOTORCYCLE has failed or is unable to remedy the defect within a reasonable time, you may submit a complaint to the Administrator, National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, 1200 New Jersey Avenue S.E. Washington, D.C. 20590, or call the toll free Vehicle Safety Hot Line at 888-327-4236 (TTY: 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.
This notice was mailed to you according to our most current registration information. If you no longer own your INDIAN MOTORCYCLE, please contact your local INDIAN MOTORCYCLE dealer to have the ownership information changed. The INDIAN MOTORCYCLE Consumer Service Department cannot change ownership information without identification. Federal law requires that any vehicle lessor receiving this notice must forward a copy of this notice to the lessee within 10 days.
Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience this may cause you. Your safety and continued satisfaction with your INDIAN MOTORCYCLE is our primary concern. Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter.
      Sincerely,
      INDIAN MOTORCYCLE

Welcome to the Tribe. I just purchased a 2021 Chieftain Dark Horse. They say the clutch pull has been improved for this model year. And the brake side hand control now has a start button. As well as Apple Car Play. All I had to do is ride one. And it blew me away. Air assist rear Fox shock. Pages of info on the infotainment screen. Tip of the spear. With a 7 year warranty. I’m loving it. It just needs Roadmaster Lowers and heated grips. Which I’ll have put on.

I tried HD street and road glide. I almost pulled the trigger on Road Glide but I wasn’t really in love with the shark fairing. I am HD for many years. Indian was in my radar for a long time but I don’t like the classic look of the previous models. When 2019 came I didn’t even take one for test ride but I was asking everybody owns Indian and they’re always giving me happy answers. I bought the same bike you have but the smoke bronze. Man I was blown away when I took it for the first ride. I am even happy with the way it sounds. Very easy to ride. All the points you have mentioned are true. I had to spent tons of money on my HD to come to this point. Good job Indian

Man , I am so happy for you. You are right on all your points . Like you, I was in the market for a new touring bike and it was between an HD Ultra Limited Low and a Roadmaster. No HD dealer could come even close to the deal I got on Chief Red Cloud as I affectionately call him.
Agree also that the power shield is a big deal. You would have to buy 3 windshields of varying heights for the HD to match the versatility of this Indian feature and even then HD can't match the convienience of change shield height on the fly. If you take a long trip where you experience every form of weather in mother nature's arsenal, you will love this feature even more.
Remote locking bags is wonderful. press a button and walk away with peace of mind, super convenient.
THe M8 powered HD had more spunk than my 2017 but with ride mode offered for Indians for 2019, I feel the playing field has been leveled in this area.
Heated seats and grips are great too!
My bike is stock. In 37,500 miles, I have had the latch on the "glove box" break and be replaced under warranty, chrome flaked off my original kickstand also replaced under warranty. My power shield stopped working , windshield electric motor replace under warranty. that is all. No engine issues at all.
Your 2019 power windshield is powered by an updated (simplified) redesigned electric motor so you should have no worries there.
My Roadmaster is so butter smooth. I actually slow down on my commute home so that my ride last longer. I do 80-85 going to work (freeway) and set my cruise at 68-70 mph for the return ride home lol.
THe only thing that doesn't seem like a durable design and that I am not happy with is the design of that dashtop glove box I previously touched on. I use it every day but I wouldn't be surprised if this design failed again before my warranty goes out. I have another 15 months of factory warranty so I'm not worried.

One of the defined differences is that the Chieftain has a much better balance from the moment you take it off the side stand. And handling is better as well, you sit “into” the Chieftain not on top of it..not to mention the Chieftain has a superior suspension. The stock exhaust sound is great stock. No need to pay to upgrade like Harley. The navigation system is more advanced and easier to use as well. The adjustable power windshield is a very nice usable feature Harley-Davidson still doesn’t have. All the lighting is LED from the factory, no need to pay for upgrades like Harley, keyless remote luggage locks, beautiful wheels and body work. The list goes on... Indian Chieftain wins hands down! However as always, it’s all up to the riders personal preference. At the end of the day Indian is very serious competition for Harley Davidson and is here to stay!

2.1" travel with the street/roadglide and RK special. It's form over function in that they want a look as opposed the best functioning rear suspension. It's not bashing, but a fact. HD could engineer a better suspension, but it woudl violate their design ethic and probably would require a complete redesign of the frame.

Harley actually does have keyless power locking bags but you have to get the CVO models and spend 40,000 plus to get it.... you can't even find it anywhere on Harley site as a aftermarket add-on option either for the standard bikes.
Hey Harley if you're listening.... keyless locking bags and forks should not be a CVO model exclusive unless you want to lose sales to the competition.
I see people talking about adding aftermarket shocks to the Harley to be comparable to the chieftain butt most of these aftermarket shocks only ad maybe an inch of travel and there is no substitute for suspension travel... the chieftain still has an inch on these aftermarket solutions for the Harley.
Don't get me wrong I love Harley and I own one but hey there's nothing wrong with competition to keep Harley on their heels and improving their bikes.

I think he knows that he's not riding a Harley. More features, reliability, more power with stunning looks. Harley is the #ME TOO bike. After test riding a brand new Street glide I figured out what that ( it's something about a Harley) feeling is. Harley has you guys thinking that any lame who gets on one is magically a big tough cool biker guy! I actually felt like I was riding a moped! My decision was made I will be going with the Indian.

lilypad vlogs I rode a Victory Vision for 2 years and put 33000 Miles on it. Great bike ! Maybe the best bike I have ever owned. When It came time to get another bike Polaris had pulled the plug on Victory. I test rode the Indian Road Master and the HD Road Glide Ultra. To me the Road Glide is a far superior bike. Just my opinion. Another thing is I will not give Polaris another dime of my money. They pretty much through all the Victory riders under the bus !

Man, these comments... Crazy... Both sides have obvious bias. Mine is the best, yours is trash.
I've ridden both... Both are GREAT bikes with each having their wins and losses.
Indian: features such as remote locking bags, power shield, ride modes, better suspension
Harely: better appearance (stance...which is why they sacrifice ride quality..., fit and finish), parts "feel" of better quality.
At the end of the day, they're pretty comparable... There are things I don't like about Indian such as the plastic dash (which will probably fade and crack over time), the fact that I have to go full turn on the bars to access the fuel tank, the design on the inner fairing, shape of the bags (wish they'd go extended like the SG special)... That's about it. As for Harley, I don't like the rougher suspension, the lack of convenience features (mentioned above) that the Indian has, less performance than they should get out of that big of a displacement.
At the end of the day, none of those things are true deal breakers for either. Indian makes more power, but Harley is more than sufficient. I prefer Harley's infotainment system better, but don't mind Indian's. I think Harley looks better, but Indian is a beautiful bike too. I'd appreciate the keyless entry on the bags but don't find myself in situations where I feel like I need to lock my bags that often, when I do the key isn't really that inconvenient. The windscreen is nice, but changing a windshield to 1 that's the "happy medium" is easy enough. Both bikes are pretty damn reliable now that the kinks are worked out.
You can't go wrong with either, and I'd have a hard time deciding between the 2 at this point. Only someone blind, would be brand loyal without checking out the positives of the other brands.

One of the reasons I prefer my Harley over the Honda I had before was the “chrome painted plastic” all over the Honda - you won’t see that on a Harley.

With that said, Polaris warranty claims are a pain in the neck, vs HD. I have a 2014 Indian Cheif Vintage. They failed to address the leather fade issues appropriately, the paint and chrome quality is not even comparable to HD. I have a chrome pitting issue with the center console, put in a warranty claim a YEAR AGO, no response. They kept hem hawing about the %^&#@ picture of it, even when showing the dealer. Features and price...hummm, why not buy a Gold Wing or Yamaha or Kawasaki if you're looking for price and features...all three have better features than both Indian and HD. Cost less money, go faster and more comfortable to ride. People buy HD because they are Harley's...not for ride, comfort or whatever, simply because they are HD. IMHO.

The reason I did not put much thought into them was I like to buy American made when I can, and I think Indian and Harley look better.

You buy those shit quality bikes. The only one with more power is the Goldwing .plenty reviews to prove it. Those other bikes don't have half the options or value Harley or Indian has.

This guy says your wrong. I also disagree, because you have no idea about the difference between those shocks. One is air which Harley stopped using, and one has a shorter travel , which makes the bike sit lower and ride firmer.

$1,500 nice Chunk of change .. Why do you have to buy a new seat with a new Cruiser bike ? $1,500 less for a More reliable better riding bike ..

My girlfriend did not like the rounded passenger seat so they said they would put on a nice touring seat. She loves the Indian's stock seat.
