Michael Jackson made the greatest most iconic music videos; music videos were once used as a promotional tool with no production then Thriller changed that trend.
Also liked males that were not old enough.
No matter what they can't take away his influence on music.
@@GarryLarryBarry your conspiracy has been proven completely false. He was unanimously vindicated on 14 counts, investigated by dozens of agencies including over 20 service areas of the FBI & CPS who all found 0 incriminating evidence even after interviewing hundreds of kids, taping his phones/ computers and having over 70 policemen do multiple surprise raids on his homes. Michael Jackson had played a huge role in music videos, especially Thriller, Black or White, and Scream.
He truly earned the title of: King of Pop, despite things that went on around him some of his tracks still hold important messages today, Black or White is one of those tracks, it's sad the way he died thou, the world has become a colder and more lonely place without him! RIP MJ

Or even the morphing face on Black or White???

Can't believe Watchmojo didn't mention the unbelievable synchronised dancing in the Scream vidoe, whatever about the cost,Janet and Michael dancing together side by side, absolutly phenomenal.
And the fact that Bad was directed by Martin Scorsese.
Madonna, Janet Jackson and Michael Jackson made amazing and really iconic music videos. Not to mention impactful. Modern-day young artists can only dream about it. I expected to see some Aerosmith, Jennifer Lopez, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Toni Braxton videos here. Their videos look expensive too
That is the most unpopular Janet song I have ever heard!

Michael and Janet are the most iconic siblings in music history
Jackson family, Including Jackson 5, Rebbie, 3T, Jermaine and of course Michael and Janet are the core of the music and inspired many future artists. That is why they are called the royal family of pop music. All of them thanks to Joe and Katherine made HIStory not only with Black music, but also to all kinds of music and genre. Janet is so underrated. Glad to see her so many times on this list. Iconic.
Janet is not underrated, please. multiple No.1, sold millions of album, tour sold out and you call her underrated?
@@blurdreamer Check the definition of underrated. She doesn’t get nearly enough recognition for the work she has done or for the path she carved for the Britney’s and Beyoncé’s. Especially after the Superbowl incident.
@@brandonbarnswell8059 Britney, Beyonce and Rihanna were all influenced by Janet. But too bad that most of the people around my age barely know who Janet is, even if they know Janet, they only know her as Michael's sister. And the late, great John Singleton directed the video.
With “Boyz N The Hood,” Singleton became a record-holder at age 24 when he became the youngest ever nominee for a Best Director Oscar.
Michael Jackson didn’t just perform with his music and dance, but he always thought outside the box on how it should be played out in his short films (he disliked calling them “music videos”), so several of them he did in the 90s were cutting edge of either CGI or blended with practical effects.
There will never again be a force as strong as the Jackson dynasty.

I really do feel like Michael Jackson’s Ghost should be number 1, with a budget of literally 15 million USD, the longest and the most expensive music video to make. So I’m really surprised how it isn’t on the chart. Few people might have think that it is a movie instead of a music video, but I guess its fine since it was literally 40 minutes.
I've never even heard of that
Probably cuz Ghost is a more of a mini movie than a music video. That video is like 35 min long.
I just knew Scream was gonna be added lol

No single Artist has shaped, innovated or *defined* the medium of "music video" more than Michael Jackson. The popularity of MTV itself was rocketed into the stratosphere because of Michael's videos. MJ's music videos also have some of the best & most influential choreographed dance routines of all time.
Michael Jackson is the most important visual artist in music history and is the ultimate music video pioneer, who pushed the envelope & continues to Influence videos today.
Yet Madonna was named the greatest music video artist of all time by billboard. MJ probably is the most important visual artist in music history since he did pioneer it but ultimately, Madonna is just as good if not a better music video artist than MJ.

No it was Madonna and Michael jackson. Madonna's music video are more iconic than janet and more revolutionary at that time.
Michael Jackson's videos for "Billie Jean", "Beat It" and "Thriller" are credited for transforming music videos into a serious art form and put MTV on the map, long before Janet's breakthrough with "Control" in 1986.

It's great to see some of these music videos back again. Such a huge throwback in this compilation.
Any Michael Jackson from any era all of his videos were expensive
90's era of music video is just like 60's era of space program.. big budget, fresh idea, no limitation, and definitely gone too soon...
Michael Jackson's casually hiring Martin Scorsese, Stephen King, George Lucas, Spike Lee, John Landis etc . . just to work for him for his MV's and short film and Steven Spielberg MV cameo Hahaha #RIP👑
I remember when MTV would make this countdown.
Almost all of these were featured in MTV countdown.
Michael : make an expensive MV
Janet : same like Michael
and we all know about if Michael + Janet make MV together...
I LOVE TLC's video; thought it was very well done. Love Hammer also. I can remember back when MJ's "Thriller" came out; that night EVERYONE was watching it!! It was a very big deal! Yep, I'm showing my age; 59 yrs old and STILL rockin! :)
When "Thriller" came out, there was an accompaniment VHS, "The Making of Thriller". I worked at Bradlees in the Sight & Sound department. I had to put the tape in, let it play, immediately rewind it, play it again...for about a week; then I had to play it 3-4 times a day. To this day I can still hear the choreographer's vocalizing of the steps.
Funny side story: one day this teenage girl came in with her band of followers. She was acting all that, and her sycophants hung on her every word. They were watching the video, and the Queen was going on about what a HUGE Michael Jackson fan she was, how she's followed him FOREVER and knew ALL about him. On the tape was a clip of the Jackson 5 with a VERY young MJ singing. The Queen sneered, "Who's THAT???" I smiled and said, "THAT...is Michael Jackson!" I then stood back and watched her turn very red.
@@WrenFaithBridger For some reason, I think I saw that special video on MTV.

I remember when black or white came out. They did a special promotion where they played it during a channel 1 broadcast in over 50,000 schools. There was so much hype before the release, and so much controversy after with the end scene of Michael bashing a car and writhing around it grabbing his crotch. Michael and Janet really should have collaborated on more videos.
Janet Jackson once signed the Biggest recording contract for an Artist until Michael Jackson snatched the title from her 😂 MJ still holds the record as the Biggest Record deals of All time with $250 Million. That's why it's easy for them to released expensive MV's during that time. #RIPMJ
That wasn’t michael who signed that deal, that was the estate, and it was for music, it was just projects in general. In the early 90s, Janet was signed for $40m, which was the biggest at the time, then michael signed for $65m a couple of days later, and then a couple of years later Janet signed again for $80m which broke that record 😭 but it is still impressive they signed for that much for a man who isn’t here physically. Janet Jackson is the most mentioned in this list yet her videos have so few views on UA-cam it's insane.
Back in the 2000s CGI and dancing on a green floor and background were so expensive

Busta Rhymes was ahead of his time. If he's a feature for another artist, he steals the show.

However Michael Jackson’s videos are all amazing my favourite ones include Scream, Give In To Me, Remember the Time, Black or White, Thriller, Human Nature and Smooth Criminal.
