Hi! Do you know if I can use accessories to seal wide mouth and regular mouth canning jars? I bought the unit hoping I could vacuum seal some of my dry goods in mason jars. @@CookingwithCatLover0330
@@sueciviero3866 I have a tube that will work on an accessory for the mason jars. I have a wide and regular month sealer. Be sure what you buy is for your machine though.
I put a 1 inch wide strip of paper towel just below where i will be sealing. It stops the liquid from escaping and the seal is perfect. When you pull it out to use after you freeze it just open the other end.
I like the measuring cup trick, I have Food Prep Bag/Plastic Freezer Bag/Ziplock Bag Holder Stand, Meal Planning/prep Bag Holders. They work good and are simple Thank you
I've had a Food Saver for about 25 yrs . Three things that I want to say : 1) In the summer I freeze vegetables . I first freeze things like tomatoes, pepper and onions by freezing on a cookie sheet for a few hours . Then I put them into food saver bags and vacuum them. Sometimes, I mix those 3 together for chili . 2) When my children were born or big news events , I vacuum news papers for those events . When they have Children , they can show them the old headlines. 3) Over the years I've had to replace my Foodsavers. I just learned on UA-cam that you can replace the suction gaskets! Wish that I had know that a month or so ago !
I freeze my soups in those square Rubbermaid containers. Once frozen I can foodsaver (that's a verb in our house too! lol) the block and no liquid gets sucked into the machine. I also pressure can a lot of soups and stock, but I still use my Foodsaver a lot!
Hey, there! I just saw this comment. Sorry about that. I love your idea of freezing soups in a container. That's a good way to save on Ziploc bags! I am learning how to use a canner now. Well, I started last summer and digging it out this summer. Thanks for watching!!
Another option if you don't have a rubbermaid container would be to use silicone ice-cube trays. Freeze your soup or sauce (etc) and then stack the cubes in your vac-seal bag and go. I was also wondering about just freezing the liquid in a ziploc bag, then the next day, open it up and use the vacuum-sealer to remove the air and seal it. That way you never worry about any bubbles in the bag. ever.
LOL, my husband opens every bag of potato chips in the house! I've been using binder clips to keep them from getting stale. Thanks for sharing a better solution - I'll get out the Foodsaver and save our chips.
i dont mean to be off topic but does anyone know a way to get back into an instagram account?? I was dumb lost my login password. I would love any tips you can offer me!
@Ayaan Kian I really appreciate your reply. I found the site thru google and I'm in the hacking process atm. Looks like it's gonna take a while so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
Here's another tip for everyone...... Put a book close to the device, put your item to be vacuumed / sealed on top of it, then feed it into the device. This keeps the bags more level and ensures the device can remove all the oxygen easily.
I love this idea! I wish I read your comment earlier today as I food saved 5 bags of sliced ham and 4 bags of homemade pasta sauce. Thank you! And thanks for watching!
With liquids / moist foods I usually freeze the item for an hour or two either in the food saver bag or a ziplock bag, then vacuum seal it. I also do this with soft foods that crush easily like bread and cakes. *_I dont know why I didn't buy a vacuum sealer years ago !_* *_They are brilliant !_*
I freeze liquids in ice cube trays then toss them in the vacuum bag, bigger items, like stews, I freeze It in a small container then, do the same thing as the ice cube trays, toss in a bag and seal.
Thanks for watching! I just used this for my chicken and pork that were on sale. Be watching for a video on my menu plan. I don't do those type videos much but a few friends were asking.
Hi...yeah, we've had a Food Saver for years. Would be lost w/out it. Food lasts much longer when it's been Food Saved. I've used meat that's been in the freezer 2 yrs. & it looks & tastes like it's fresh & new. I take advantage of sales & Food Save it. I've bought big bags of cat or dog food in order to get it more economically, transfer it to vacuum bags, Food Save it so it stays fresh for months.I recently bought the wide mouth & reg. size Food Saver parts that attach to a hose to the Food Saver so I can vacuum Mason or Ball jars . I dehydrate foods & put them in those jars...now I can vacuum them.
Pat, you know how to use that Food Saver!! I love mine. I do as you do. I buy sales and we can't eat it all fast enough. I dehydrate the herbs, tomatoes and onions that I grow. Then I food save some and just use the rest. Thanks for watching!
Love the video, but I don't understand the purpose of double bagging the liquids? It won't remove anymore of the air from the inside bag and also won't reduce the air volume within the inside bag. Is it because it prevents the ziplock bags from breaking open when freezing?
I can keep these in the freezer a lot longer than just Ziplocks. When I do my soups and sauces like this, they last (without freezer taste) for a year of more. Good question. Thank you.
I used to partially freeze my meat before sealing to prevent or limit the amount of liquid from being pulled into the vacuum chamber as my sealer would do a poor job of sealing if liquid was present so i did the double bag with a zip lock. anyway you can leave the zip lock bag partially open and have it in the direction of the vacuum chamber inside the sealer bag. the air in the zip lock bag gets pulled out when the sealing process begins, the liquid will be slow to rise by that time the vacuum and seal is completed. it is possible to do a final seal on the zip bag by just adding pressure to the zip lock. not sure how necessary that is.
Those are brilliant ideas. Cheers for the great tips.Plus they also save you on bags as well.New subscriber , & that's another brilliant idea for the crisps. Sorry chips as you call them. Hello from Scotland UK.
nice job.I was thinking on putting home made soup in a zip lock then a Vacuum sealer bag then put it in the freezer. This is what you have done here. How long would you keep it in the Freezer?
A handy way of processing liquids is to put the product into a cup/glass etc then put the seal bag over the top and pull it down then invert the two and pull out the container. This keeps the liquid from getting in places you don’t want.
I didn't know there was a battery operated one! That would be great for camping. We always have leftovers when we camp. It's so hard to keep them from getting water logged in the cool! Thanks for watching.
I see your food saver ... but you didn't say what kind it is.... where you got it ....and much it is .....looks like a good one could you please let me know thank you Char in n.y
Another way to get air out of your freezer bag is to have a sink of water and surmise your bag just below the seal then the water will force the air and then seal it.
I'm new to the 'food saver world' - I bought 10 small pkgs of luncheon ham - should I take the ham out of the pkg first and then seal, or leave them in their original pkg and then seal - thx for any tips - love your video's - cheers from Canada
Marnelle Corege I have done both. I don't think it matters. I like it with the package then I don't have to mark the bag with anything but the date. Enjoy your new tool!
The foodsaver will not take out the air from the ziplock bag. I take out as much air as I can then I seal it and put it into the foodsaver bag. I do this because the liquid will pull through the foodsaver and I don't want that. It will keep for years in the freezer.
I know I am late to this party but I always put my liquids in the foodsaver bag only and leave enough room at the top to just seal then freeze flat. After freezing I cut just below the seal and then vacuum and seal. I set my foodsaver up on a cutting board so the bag and liquid stays down when I just seal it.
I use the ziploc bags inside a food saver bag when the food is messy. That way the liquid doesn't go into my food saver. As the air is being sucked out so is liquid. And I have put foods in just a Ziploc and froze them but if stored more than a month or so, I get frost burn and a funny taste to the food. Thanks for watching! You will love your food saver! I have some other videos on it too.
The meaning of vacuum packaging is to remove air from the package with the product ... If there is air left in your ziploc package, then the vacuum packing loses its meaning ... If you removed air from the ziploc of the package then for what do vacuum packing? ..
I vacuum seal these type foods like this, because we do not eat them up quick enough. I have frozen ziplock bags, with the air removed, and it tasted like freezer burn a year later. Good question. Thanks!
I do reuse the bags at times. Never if raw meat is in it or if it is a messy item and the bag is hard to clean. I've never frozen white sauce that I remember. Try freezing a little and then warm it up later.
If food is in the freezer too long, you can get frostbite on your food. It doesn't taste good. The vacuum sealed bags don't do that. I have pulled out food from 2 years ago and it tasted great.
@@CookingwithCatLover0330 that's right, I mean for dry food it's impossible to get air out with zip lock, but seeing you did mostly liquids, I had good success getting air out from ziplock with liquids, mushy lentils / dals etc, just got a vacuum sealer a few weeks ago though, but very careful with liquidy stuff since it can damage the machine

Does this work with regular freezer bags like Ziplock?
Never tried it with regular freezer Zip Lock bags. I think for this application I would stick with a food saver type product.
