      In South Africa they require a police clearance sertificate, but like he said the person might have a clear record and has not been caught before so how do you know? You can have guests onboard a cruiseship who hides being a pedophile or anything bad or dodgy.

      Literally I say this to family and friends. I worked at Disney World for 3 years and we were trained to watch out for pick pockets and thieves bc people generally will let down their guard when on vacay. Folks will rob guest they were taking pictures. I tend of think of cruises as the same.

      The real issue is that once they cross international waters, our laws do not apply to them. Most of them do not have consequences, or they " hide" within the boat. I'm glad these guys are getting caught and having consequences.

    • @kenyattaclay7666
      @kenyattaclay7666 17 днів тому +12

      As Jay pointed out, if they have never gotten caught or charged doing anything then how do you expect a background check to find anything? If they have a long history of this or any crime for that matter then you have a valid point but it’s COMPLETELY unrealistic to think a background check is supposed to find something that isn’t there.

    • @kenyattaclay7666
      @kenyattaclay7666 17 днів тому +4

      @@bellayvette19that’s not necessarily so because it all depends on when and where they are caught & committed the crime. It also depends on any agreements and/or other maritime laws that might come into play. I can tell you from experience having been in the Navy it’s not that clear cut.
      Also, it’s not true that they would face no or less severe consequences because many of the countries that they come from have arcane laws.

      Have you seen what's going on with American Airlines lately? Two separate flight attendants did two very disturbing things. One male attendant had 8 black skinned men removed from a single flight, claiming "body odor" on all of them, none knew each other or were sitting near each other....they were removed from the plane, but since there were no other flights available that day and the gate agents didn't smell anything, they put them back on that same flight. The other male attendant was caught secretly recording an adult female in a first class bathroom, she reported it and when the cops looked at his phone they saw he did it to a 9 year old girl too, when cops told her parents they also filed charges against him and AA said "the 9 year old should free known she was being recorded" and since she didn't report it at the time, she must have consented to it. Yeah, a 9 year old! SMH
      There are evil people all around us. We just need to hope there are more good than bad out there.

    Hi J, I love all of your videos, especially this one because you would expect cruise employees to undergo a little more stricter hiring process. This video makes us all aware that no matter where we are to always use caution. With that being said, and don't take this the wrong way, I think stock photos should be removed of the Carnival Freedom and other cruise employees as this wasn't even a Carnival employee or ship but makes us all assume it was. Thats not credible. I do want to thank you again for always keeping us up to date with cruise news and I hope I didn't offend you in any way.

    • @JSHIPLIFE
      @JSHIPLIFE  17 днів тому +2

      If I had used any other stock photo would I have run into the same issue? Probably not. The 2 most popular Cruise lines out there are Carnival and Royal Caribbean so naturally I am going discuss topic involving them because the data indicates that is what’s most relatable to them. If anyone believes that I am trying to hint at something when I didn’t then that is a personal problem. Thank you for supporting the channel.

      @@JSHIPLIFE I don't think you were trying to hint at anything but at certain points of the video where you showed crew members or even the Carnival ship, left me with questions. So much so that I looked the story up to see if in fact it was Carnival. I still support your channel but thought others might have been led to think the same as I did. Thank you for responding to me Justin. Most cruise news channels do not interact with their audience like you do. That's one thing I respect about you and your channel. I worked on yachts and then worked as security on yachts. One of the yachts I worked on had a middle eastern owner and an all male crew. One of the crew members who was an officer aboard that gigayacht, he was openly telling everyone that he couldn't wait to go to Spain because they still had 'donkey shows' there. That is a yachting myth as old as mermaids an supposedly they exist, but I've never seen one, but also haven't looked either. There are disgusting people that go out to sea. They think they'll get away from their urges out there, or they are running away. Sometimes, it turns to violence on the boat, especially if alcohol is involved. That's when some people's true personalities come through a d some people are sick. Nobody who works at sea though is ever truly without wanting to seek out new adventures though. All of us 'sea-people' are always looking fkr adventures or the next thrill. Some people though, go too far.

    I'm glad these two were caught in the US. However, the videos may not be illegal in the countries they come from no matter how sick I think it is. Same with US citizens that travel abroad with ammo in their luggage. Sounds like the training for employees needs to state that you are not allowed to have contraband in the US that would include child pornography and animal abuse. Also for each country they travel to. And also state the age of consent and that under 18 is considered a "child" in the US. Aren't 12 year olds in DR able to consent to sex or something crazy like that? It's sad that kids can't be kids in some countries.
