Single player/multi-player historical based missions would be so fun
There already are historical based missions that are multi-player/single-player
Although it is nothing like this. It would be nice if we had something like this

@@frenchfry9735most of them were made over a decade ago, imported from birds of steel or wings of prey. Even if gaijin updates those ones to work better it would be nice but they seem neglected for now.

I played Navel on WT Moblie Subs have a O2 Meter for how long you can stay under water if PC can do that Subs can be somewhat balanced

Gaijin use mostly the events as Public Test...i think to get more people into it that they have in the end more Numbers about their test...so it could be that we get it maybe in a few months final in the game, maybe in the Summer 2024

There are submarines already in wt mobile so its probably coming to pc and console
im not sure how they would balance them into the meta
I know the submarines are really exciting and cool, but this also means the arrival of more submarine hunters in war thunder. Which I would love to see more of. Not just the planes, but possibly helicopters sub-hunters too.
And sub-chasers will be even more useful now. I think they should make them invisible to submarines underwater - they had quiet engines to not get heard by them.
@@normaluser5755 I'd say not invisible, but maybe inconsistent. Make it so depending on weather the contact goes on and off. Also obviously if there's more background noise or they're farther away the quieter engine would help them more.
I'm just thinking about getting started with this game, of course I've known about it for years but now I suddenly have an interest for WWII again (I had it years ago, but then I lost interest for various reasons).
My question for you all is, though, how does the game work in regards of different historical eras? I couldn't really find out just by fooling around in the menu.
You've got Cold War and perhaps even more modern vehicles, but also some from the 1920's. Are all of these eras mixed together in War Thunder?
Like, if I played as a WWII submarine, would anti-sub helicopters be in the game as well (those definitely didn't exist back then, probably wasn't developed until the 1960's)?
For once, I'm fairly excited for naval!

Gaijin, this is the best event I ever played in WT. It means that much more to me because my Grandfather on Dads side was a gun director on a destroyer in the Battle of the Atlantic, whilst a distant relation on Moms side was a U-Boat Captain. Both survived the war. In the words of both “An act of God.” Please, in the name of the Gods of Sea and Sky, add submarines offically to the game.
I think dynamic ship destruction would be nice. Like the bow snapping off from a torpedo
The game actually had that back when it was just PT Boats. I imagine with proper ships there's technical hurdles that forced them to turn that mechanic off.

Anything other than scripted animation would require a serious amount of physics that would be impossible to run without hiccups.

nah the next update will have the Gripen-C so I imagine they will make that the focal point of the update while using that to bring in the Aim-120A

I'll be honest when this event finally comes out, I'm so gonna be playing that music from the movie das boot and Greyhound, just to get the feel of the suspense of the whole thing.
oh yeah and I guess debt charges might actually have some use for once instead of being used to sink surface ships which really?, but anyway I'm looking forward to this one :)

1. Link the coastal and Bluewater tech tree experiences grind together again, even just like how tank experience can be spent towards helicopters with a check option, or add them back together, so that higher tier coastal will be more used practically for key situations
2. Make it to where you can spawn in more than 3 ships by use of game points like tank RB
3. Add submarines to hinder Island camping.
The subs April fools event was so fun, glad to see some of it back
Hyped to see how subs will work. Also glad that Naval continues to get updates and attention despite a tepid initial reception. It's a fun mode if you're into some slower gameplay.

Naval could always use new creative game modes (PVE, asymmetrical rules etc)

I have been playing sub sims since I was 8 years old, finally, now is my time. From SSN Seawolf to Silent Hunter to Cold Waters, I am prepared.
This needs to be a permanent game mode ! Not just an event.
If they add Italian submarines this would be the first game in history to feature them, and if you are a history nerd you would know that they were no joke.
A mobile game has Italian subs so no not the first game

I would love to see this in the game as part of tech trees with new game modes for naval, it is thrilling just to watch this small video will be pure adrenaline to play it. Gaijin please add it and many players will give a try to naval battles. Personally I was waiting for this since I started playing the game, amazing.

This has to be one of the coolest and most fun events in AGES.
All I can think of is listening to Wolfpack by Sabaton while playing this event. Also can't wait for if submarines are added. Especially for Italy

This is a fun event, but if you focus on the Cargo Ships (the actual objective), you get very few points
the fastest way I got points was actually just shooting ships with your guns

If this is going to be part of the tech tree. This will bring a lot of more people to naval instead of this just being only of an event.

I was legit recounting to someone last night about the old April Fools event Submarine gamemode that was basically shelved and never seen any future reference.
How impeccable is the timing!

Edit: Its actually an event, meaning it will be testing WW2 submarine mechanics, meaning WW2 subs are more than possible additions if the event testing goes well. Im hyped!

@@jkN1337 yep, i know. Don't know how subs work over there though (didn't have chance to play them yet), but i suppose it would be very different to regular War Thunder.

@@TADAMAT-CZ its a bit more arcady with carrying a lot more torps than it would irl, and the naval maps have a lot more islands in them for cover, but basicly how it works is you got limited oxygen to drive with so you need to fight more on the serface, and you can only launch torps wilst at conning tower depth so you are a small target but still one that could take some damage. also torps work a bit different you target the ship and fire and torps will track the ships for a couple seconds but nothing more than that, which i think would get removed when it comes to pc

I recall suggesting this exact thing some time ago on the old war thunder forums, in a dedicated submarine thread. I pitched having a dedicated game mode where you have some players controlling submarines and attacking a ship convoy and another team trying to protect the convoy.
I even suggesting having Catalina planes dropping sink bombs.
Maybe someone over at gaijin HQ actually reads the forums threads? Anyway, my prayers are answered.

Gaijin I have an idea for a game mode hear me out:
Naval air battles
Player aircraft only
Instead of bases and airfields, each team get 4 or 5 aircraft carriers. These can have similar health to a base and is where the planes take off and land from, as well as what the bomb targets are (it could also be a bomber free mode, since they would be very hard to land on carriers, or you could use seaplane bombers that land beside the carriers to reload etc)
A team wins by either destroying all enemy teams planes or carriers
This would be cool cuz carriers could be used more often in the game, and people could actually practice landing on them . There would also be more of a point to seaplanes
It could also be a naval aircraft only mode, or it could just have buffed braking characteristics or lower stall speeds.
The physics would be the same as air realistic battles
Ai ground targets could be small patrol boats
The maps could have various island around them, maybe with ground targets
I thought this would be a cool game mode, thought I may as well share it
Also this event looks really fun, and I really like the changes u made in kings of battle, I just unlocked jets so the skill thing for kills will make the grind a bit quicker hopefully

If implemented properly, submarines can give Naval Battles the overhaul they need. Making bigger maps and storms. Giving points for objetives and amount of damage. Not kills.
How are moving at a snails pace submarines going to overhaul naval when they'll be some of the slowest ships in game while sailing to say nothing of submerged speeds
it already gives score based on damage more than kills, also with the skill bonus even more so

If subs come to the tech tree, I'd play naval alot more.
Yeah I know nobody at Gaijin will see this, but I really hope they bring this event back permanently and more like it. I want more heavily objective based gamemodes where you escort cargo ships or bomber aircraft, just something that forces teams to work together and do more than just kill the enemy. The event was so well designed between the functionality of the subs and the ship's sonar, some of the most fun I have ever had playing this game and that is saying something because I really like WT, been playing it for years. Makes me sad how much people dunk on this game when you can see the sick details and the obvious care put into the game.

Can't wait for them to be added to the base game and be awful to fight against and drive players away from the mode
They would kill the game, much like they killed WoWs, or like they're a scourge in WT Mobile.
There's no way to balance submarines in a gun-based surface matches. Submarine gameplay is fun for a single-player convoy raiding, but multiplayer with battleships and like? It'd be nothing more than a pure toxicity for the mode. Worse than CAS in ground battles.
@@SkywalkerWrocdestroyer are made for that. They have sonar, depts charges and torpedeos
@@Clemdauphin Yes, it's the same BS that AA is in GRB. What am I supposed to do, J-out my own battleship, switch to DD and spend 5 minutes going to the location of the enemy sub to depth-charge it? lmao. Submarines are toxic for the gameply.
@@Clemdauphin try playing a destroyer at 7.0, see if you make it out of spawn let alone make it halfway across the map.

Ok, as a BIG naval player this makes me rock-hard and paranoid at the same time.
It´s either going to be what brings back the good naval battles OR a complete waste that wont get much attention from Gaijin.

This was fun! I was super excited for this event! I hope warthunder adds this as a full feature in the game.
With this we’ll probably get anti sub aircraft like the P-3 Orion,IL-38 and the Nimrod in the future
P3 Orion, Nimord, S3 viking is a long way from now and probably be added with sub hunting helicopter with early cold war destroyer or frigate with helipad but by that time it probably facing off with early cold war submarine like USS Skipjack or a 80's era Sub
WW2 sub is no match for cold war era weapons of war like a P3 or S3 viking
USS Douglas and Soviet missile destroyer is literally op against WW2 aircraft

I absolutely loved this! It was so fun
Literally just inlocked the HMS Hood for Britain naval, and whilst top tier naval is good, not a lot of countries are viable outside of Germany, Japan and Britain (at least with the way top tier is now, when they add a few more ships it might change)
If they add submarines permanently, it'll be a complete game changer
Britian and Japan are not viable at top tier lmao, Germany, Russia and US are the only real viable options as of rn because their 7.0s dominate everything especially hood

I suspect, and hope that they have made it so you can only see with periscope at periscope depth above water, and only when you are above you can look around you properly. Oh man I'm speculating so much.
I can't wait to see how they will use the different kinds of sonars, sonobuoys, hydrophones. But also how seamines, mortars, depth charges etc. will have influence over them. This looks like a bright future for future naval battles. Hopefully they can balance the spam properly.
Also who else is excited about enduring confrontation in a sub?
