      Hair loss, acne and inability to lose weight. I am pretty fertile normally which is great that I didn’t get that issue. My periods are always crazy heavy and irregular. I have three beautiful kids that I conceived relatively easily, but I’ve had 3 or more miscarriages that I am not sure is related. But now that I have an IUD, I have no idea what my fertility is like due to very few menstrual cycles

    Abnormal androgen levels in labs, acne, excess hair and an abnormal period schedule. Had the symptoms for many years but was diagnosed two years ago. Thanks for making this video! Even though I already know this information due to a previous diagnosis I’m glad it’s being talked about more so more people don’t feel alone especially with how common PCOS is❤️

    so I was just diagnose with having polycystic ovaries ... however the only symptom that lead me to check myself out was the change in cycle. I had been bleeding for almost a month& it was no end in sight seemed like. Thankfully I saw my gynecologist, who tested me & saw that I had quite a few small cyst on my left ovary and maybe 1 or 2 on my right. He gave me some hormone pills & something else to stop the bleeding which did stop it immediately after I took the medicine. Thank God. He told me about excessive hair and stuff but I really DON’T struggle with any of that .. acne ,hair loss, weight gain or being overly heavy. Which leads me to wonder can I have polycystic ovaries yet not have PCOS ???? (I’m 23 years old btw 5’2 , 138lbs & I’ve had regular 4-5 day periods my whole life up until this random diagnosis.) 😭

    Beautiful video and gorgeous children. Loved this thank you.
    I have hirsutism acne, weight problems around the stomach hips and thighs, acne, high Free androgen index level of 11.4 and heavy periods, but do not have cysts on ovaries. I’m worried the doctor will say you don’t have cysts and irregular periods so u don’t have PCOS. I believe I do have it

      Thank you for the very kind words. PCOS patients can have heavy periods that are regular, as well. And they may not show cysts on the ovaries (the name of the condition is a misnomer). You may need a blood workup if you haven't had one, and if your primary care doctor is not comfortable managing PCOS you can ask for a referral to an endocrinologist. Hope that helps! Good luck to you, and keep us updated!

      1 in 10 women have PCOS -- it's so common, so you're definitely not alone. For most of my PCOS patients i often recommend the Intermittent Fasting diet. Have you heard of it? It works well for PCOS and insulin resistant medical conditions. I have some videos on it if it interests you. Good luck to you!

Thank you for informing us about PCOS. My case was definitely the first time I heard about PCOS, it was hard to explain to my husband and family. The more I dig to get info the more I find out that a lot of women have been going through the same thing as me.

    Short story: a few months ago I had an appointment with my obgyn and they did a vaginal ultrasound and found cysts on my ovaries. I have noticed eversince I gave birth to my son and after I breastfeed him I wasnt getting my menstruation every month, I didn't really think of it that much but I was worried that something was wrong. Months go by and I finally had one, but it was heavier and very painful. Fast forward after my last check up I started think non of my family has pcos and when I started everything was quit normal, but I was struggling for 4 years of getting pregnant with my son. Could you develop pcos after having a baby? Is that even possible?

    Question does this possibly make your hair change like get darker? Or grow in coarse? I have noticed over the past few years my hair normally thin and soft has grown in black and coarser like horse tail. I have one hair that wants to grow from my chin lol i pluck that mother out. Is this the same thing? My hormone test said not menopause but they didn't test anything else.. Im 34.

    • @MajdMD
      @MajdMD  3 роки тому +2

      Megan Howard yes the hair could grown thicker, more coarse. 34 sounds way too young for menopause.

    I have times where my periods are short and then they are more than 10 days. My acne was always bad around my chin.. but has gotten better over the years. Because I'm drinking more water. But my periods are always weird.. I've never not had a period tho. It's just been late a few times. I dont have any hair loss..etc I have some neck hairs. I've gained more weight in the past couple of years.. but I think that's just because of me not eating better..But I am struggling to get pregnant. I've also have sever depression & aniexty. I have mood swings like no other. I also have a family line of diabetes. But I've been tested and I don't have it. Do you think I possibly could have PCOS? I'm just curious.

    Dr. Majd. I have a ganglion cyst. I was told that it was caused because of the hard push while giving birth to my son. But do they move? Because now is in a different area. Can you talk about that on your next topic. Thank you. And like always. You are amazing. Thank you for teaching us.

    • @MajdMD
      @MajdMD  5 років тому +1

      Awe thank you for the kind words, Martha, i am grateful. I've never heard of a ganglion cyst due to delivery -- we don't know why some people get them. They may occur after direct trauma to the region. They're usually located on the hand or wrist, and are benign. I'll place it on my topic list, thank you for the suggestion!

    I was diagnosed with PCOS but I don't think I have it.
    1. Acne - Yes - but mainly on my back
    2. Hirsutism - No
    3. Central Obesity - No
    4. Prediabetes - No
    5. Abnormal Periods - Periods were Painful but have Endometriosis
    6. Fertility Challenges - Slightly higher LH than FSH (also attributing this to Endometriosis)
    7. I'll add that I have a family history of Heart Disease and my HDL is low (after some research I attribute this to long term progestin birth control use)
    I also have lower testosterone and estrogen levels. I tried researching and saw something on Lean PCOS but that really didn't seem to fit either. How do you even diagnose this condition?

      @H. Kaiser350 that’s not helpful

    • @jdun102
      @jdun102 3 роки тому +1

      @H. Kaiser350 Many things can cause these types of symptoms. I don't know if I have 3 symptoms I have things that could be associated with it but also could be completely unrelated.

    • @jdun102
      @jdun102 3 роки тому +1

      @H. Kaiser350 I'm sure you mean well but this was a second opinion specialty doctor. I have little to no confidence that a doctor in my area will be able to diagnose me properly so that is why I asked the question on a youtube page. Obviously if it were a straight forward diagnosis I would not have needed to make the comment. I've obviously had blood tests done with doctor's notes and input already.

    • @jdun102
      @jdun102 3 роки тому

      if any of what they commented about made sense or if they could backup their diagnosis with actual facts vs. well you have cysts on your ovaries I'd be more inclined to believe them. However with the world's most normal A1C and low testosterone I fail to see how going on metformin would help me in any way shape or form which was his suggestion for me to be on.

      Irregular periods are common in PCOS, but heart palpitations are not a symptom - unless a person is very anemic from blood loss due to periods, but that is uncommon. Palpitations warrants an evaluation by your doc.
