I am a foreign man and I didn’t learn much of cooking anything. I never cooked roast chicken before. I went to whole foods got the spices and followed this recipe exactly, the chicken is great! Just like in this video, crispy on the outside and juicy in the inside. It really works!
I loved everything about this video.. The way you handled...used your hand, washed, dried, your bracelet, the way you spoke, short, sweet, to the point, very honest, the spice draw, whole foods ( one of my favorite) BEAUTIFUL..and THANK YOU😊😊😊
Yes, it's so beautifully organized! The problem I have with my spice drawer is having to weed out expired spices on a regular basis - one has to be alert! 🌶🌶🌶
I just made this for today's dinner and it was excellent !!! The rub spices and the juiciness of the chicken was incredible. Thank you for sharing this video/recipe !
I really liked the shot of your spice drawer. I have lots of spice jars and keep them in plastic shoe boxes, not organized like yours are. My goal is to someday get them organized so I know where everything is. So, your organization is really impressive to me.
Hi! Would you consider doing a video about cooking oil? I know it sounds like a basic video, but it would be very helpful to know what cooking oils you personally use and ones you do not use, and in what cases you use them for in cooking or baking. I am trying to get away from vegetable oil and want to explore avocado oil, safflower oil, and more. I already use olive oil, but sometimes I want a netural tasting oil for frying or cooking foods of other cuisines that do not pair well together. Thanks a lot!
@@Downshiftology I would also like a video on that, I came to the comments just to ask why you prefer avocado over olive for baking. Is it more stable under high temperatures? Would love to hear a comprehensive review on cooking oils :)
I know my 2 cents don't count for much but the healthiest oils are avocado, coconut, olive. Peanut oil is great as arthritis massage oil. If you can't do anything with any o' those, someone else will
Judy Xie if you’re looking for a go-to cooking oil, olive oil is your best bet. it has a relatively neutral flavor, and a high smoke point. if you’re looking for deep frying, try avocado and safflower oil. however, it must say EXPELLER PRESSED. if it doesn’t, they used a chemical solvent called “hexane” to extract the oil, which is very harmful.
Literally the best chicken, super good as a leftover in a salad too. I use spring mix or arugala and caesar dressing. I always buy a huge pack of chicken so this salad is another option if you meal prep. 🤍
Love, love love this recipe. This is now my family's favorite way to eat chicken. We really don't crave drive thru fried chicken very often anymore:)and we used to eat it at least two or three times a week. thank you for helping with our health. Yahweh bless you
Thank you so much. I'm not over weight but I want to stay healthy now that I am almost fifty. I did your recipe and I used sea salt in stead of regular salt and OMG, this recipe is the best I have ever had. You are a great cook and Many many thanks.
I cooked chicken for the 1st time two weeks ago. It came out dry and I did not enjoy it at all. It left me wondering why people enjoyed eating chicken. I added some slices of lemon and onions under the rack, other than that I did exactly as you instructed. I doubt anyone would believe it was just the second time I had ever cooked chicken. It was totally divine and I put that down 100% to following your video. Thank you so much for creating such a clear, concise, easy to follow video. You are an amazing teacher and I have subscribed to your channel.
Best tutorial for chicken thighs on this platform! And the spice rub is awesome. I do feel I should mention that the FDA recommends cooking bone in chicken to 175°. Although I know a few professional chefs who don't take it that high. I'm making this again tonight. Rarely, if ever bought bone in chicken before inflation hit, but it is the best deal out there! And amazingly delicious. Thanks so much!!
I went to two different Whole Food stores and was told that you must wash the chicken. For all other meats, you don’t have too. Just want to share this info. Thank you for the recipe. Looks delicious
Made this today with a few changes. Skin off boneless chicken thighs. I used same seasoning and cooked for 20 mins on hob. Absolutely delicious. Will be having regularly. Thank you. 😋
I did try your recipe exactly as you showed it even bought one of the racks I used leg quarters it turned excellent thank you for sharing really awesome !!
Thank you for sharing this recipe...I rinse meat that I buy, period. I don't cross contaminate because I know how to handle it & how to clean properly. Everyone I was raised around did the same thing & we are still alive...without cross contaminating anything.
I rub extra dirt on my meat to get a nice earthy flavor. Sometimes, if I decide to cook the meat, you can see where there were worms, which means extra protein.

So excited for this! My 12 yr old actually asked me to make him healthier recipes. Feel like we eat pretty healthy, but it's hard to get the kids fully on board so apparently eating healthy really does rub off on your children over time! They become aware of how they feel after eating good vs. poor food. Now if I can just get the younger 2 kids on board. ETA: Plus my husband is currently doing keto so he'll appreciate this recipe.

You can still bake these without the rack, you'll just have more juices in the pan and they won't be crispy on the bottom. But the tops will still be great!

Thankyou so much got this great video and great recipe. I have added this spice mixture to my keto hand written favorites. I made it with half split chickens s couple weeks ago and tonight I have drumsticks. Again love it😊
Lisa, thank you for this video, love this recipe! And even though baked chicken seems so simple, you gave us a few really valuable how-to’s & hacks, e.g., using the rack or not having to rinse the chicken. Great stuff. Now if you cook a batch & have leftovers, how do you reheat the chicken to still get crispy skin & yet not dry out the meat? (if that’s at all possible) As for other recipes, I would love to know how you cook tuna (my favorite way is to sear it, but may be you have your own marinade or smth?) Also, you might still have some of your go-to casserole recipes up your sleeve, with whatever ingredients?
Thanks Victoria! I'm happy you love my little tips. :) I've actually been eating leftovers of this recipe all week. I just pop it in the microwave for about 45 seconds (for one piece). The skin won't be crispy, but it will still be flavorful. You could also reheat in an oven. The good thing about chicken thighs is that they don't dry out easily. Thanks for the feedback on the tuna and casserole recipes as well. I'll make a note of those! x
I usually reheat the crispy chicken on straight pan(indian tawa) u could use any heavy bottom pan on very low heat. Put the pcs in and cover with a lid. Its like a small oven. Would probably take around five minute in total. Remember to turn twice in between. It will b almost same as freshly made.i hope it helps 😊
I usually pop it back into the oven for 15 min or so. Doesn’t typically dry out the chicken thighs. It’s good to leave it out again for 20 or so minutes to let it warm up a bit naturally so you don’t have to bake it as long.
Downshiftology thank you, Lisa & everyone who shared their reheating tips - some good advice, really! I actually also normally microwave my food just a bit & then stick it in a little roaster/mini-oven if I want smth crispy & if I have time (& patience) to wait a little 😉
Holy smokes this is almost the exact same recipe I use for super crispy chicken - I think I use slightly different quantities of spices it's from all recipes- it does make the crispiest skin! I always serve with some roasted squash - yum yum
Looks very yummy!!! Have you ever tried to prepare a quarter chicken leg ? I’ve never tried because I don’t know if will be good. Thanks for sharing a fantastic recipes.. You are amazing! 😎
I love this healthy recipe! Love these spices on it! Made it and came out yummy! Your oven must be really hot bc it took almost 50 minutes for my chicken to cook through in my oven. I love the skin too. Thanks for sharing recipe!
I tried this recipe yesterday and it was somewhat of a failure. I baked the chicken at 400 for 35 minutes because I think my oven runs hotter than the dial setting. The chicken was moist and flavorful, but the skin was not crispy. I will try it again. Great video and instructions!!
hey thank you! You prefer avocado oil because of the higher smoke point? just curious. I have two skinless chicken breast I just might do this with. Won't be crispy but probably still good! Thank you.
Thank you so much for your videos! You're very talented, organized, and you make cooking look fun (I generally don't like to cook or have the time, but because your dishes are fast and easy, I love these type of meals!). I'm passing your channel to my Facebook friend and clients!
Thank you for the recipe, it looks delicious! Going to give it a shot this Sunday :) The only time I rinse a meat is if it was cut by saw. You get bone "paste" (not dust because it's wet) and fragments off that way.
This looks great! I'm looking for easy, healthier options for my family mid-week (and with leftovers for lunches the next day) and you definitely had their attention with your opening KFC remark. We don't eat KFC, but love a good alternative. This looks great and we're going to try it out this week. Thanks, Lisa!
My first attempt at this recipe did not turn out with crispy chicken. However, I’ve made this recipe several more times and it turned out great! I think the key is dry chicken and about 30 minutes out of the frig before roasting. I guess a lot of folks are on a gluten free diet. However, NOBODY knows what gluten is? Just kidding! Kidding! 🤪 Keep up the great videos young lady!!
These came out amazing but the smoke filled my kitchen and set off all my fire alarms, so I finished on them on the stove. What are your suggestions for keeping the smoke under control?
You'll probably have to drain the grease from the pan midway during the cooking process and rinse it off, then put the chicken back into the oven to prevent it from smoking. Mine does this. So, I either remove any crumbs that fall down (and rinse the pan off) before cooking. Or, I pull the pan out midway, drain the grease, rinse again, and put the chicken back into the oven.
I hope you guys enjoy this easy chicken recipe. It's a delicious weeknight meal! I'm working on a bunch of new recipes, but let me know in the comments if there's something you'd love to see me whip up! xo - Lisa

Wonderful! I'm glad you enjoyed the recipe!
What size is the baking sheet you use? They come in a bunch of sizes.
Sounds and looks delicious. I will give this a try very soon. Btw, I love that spice drawer!
I tried this chicken recipe yesterday and it was sooo delicious and crispy💓 It will be definitely my favorite dish from now thank you for the recipe
Wonderful! I'm so happy you loved the recipe. :)
Thank you.
Yes, for the higher smoke point. And the rub would still be great on skinless chicken as well. Enjoy! :)
Your spice rack looking better than the one at the grocery store. Great video, also love chicken skin
I made this for my family today, and it's absolutely delicious!! Thanks for sharing!
Going to give it a shot this Sunday :)
The only time I rinse a meat is if it was cut by saw. You get bone "paste" (not dust because it's wet) and fragments off that way.
Enjoy these chicken thighs 😊
Looks delicious! I love all the central market organic spices, I wouldn't cook my food with out them.
Yummy looking chicken. I love chicken thighs, packed with flavor. Will defiantly need to try this. I usually cook them on my smoker.
Yes, chicken thighs are the best! And they're great in a smoker - wish I had one!
Hi,
I just came across this, and am wondering why you set the microwave for 35:00 minutes?
Thanks,
Larry

This looks absolutely delicious. I just bought a big package of thighs and wasn't sure how to cook. Now I now. Thanks.
You'll definitely have to give this recipe a try - it's a reader favorite! :)
This is my FAVVV recipe of yours! Seriously cook chicken thighs way more than I ever have because of this! I love you!! 💕
Amazing! Hope you and your family enjoy this recipe 😊
oh what a beautiful recipe, by which I could replace the paprika and that gives a beautiful color too? thank you
If you can't use paprika you could leave it off. :)
I’ve made this recipe before and it is wonderfully delicious and healthy 😋
Glad you've enjoyed this recipe 😊
I love your sensible way of eating.
Thanks June 😊
Great recipe! Easy to make and my family really enjoyed it, which was a plus!
very informative, love it. and love ur spice collection..
Thank you so much 😊
My first attempt at this recipe did not turn out with crispy chicken. However, I’ve made this recipe several more times and it turned out great! I think the key is dry chicken and about 30 minutes out of the frig before roasting.
I guess a lot of folks are on a gluten free diet. However, NOBODY knows what gluten is? Just kidding! Kidding!
🤪
Keep up the great videos young lady!!

Love your videos! I'd love to see some easy weeknight meals or even crock pot meals.
Thanks Nadia! Noted! :)
