Wow! This vid snapped me straight back to 99'. I didn't realize how much I missed it. Yes the music has gotten better, the technology better, and more mainstream edm vs underground, but the vibe and spirit in your average NYC club is nowhere near what it used to be. I used to hang out at Tunnel, soundfactory, and limelight back in those days 97-01. I was hanging out at space ibiza NYC a few weeks ago and doing some old skool liquid and everyone (including the pretentious rich kids at vip tables) loved it. What made my night was when one of the security guys who has been doing this as long as I have walked up to me, hugged me and said he has not seen that spirit on the dance floor in 15 years! Rave to the grave!

As far as pure glowstick technique, I feel that the guy 1:25 had the most mastery. Others were great dancers but were sort of break-dance or pop-and-lock focused, whereas the 1:25 dude had this style of dancing absolutely mastered

Only rave I was ever able to go to was in 1995 in Atlanta and I am shocked to this day that my dad let lil ole 15 year ole me go to experience that. The people went with, they were talking about getting some X and dancing all night. but I didn't have $30 for X. I'd never done it and although I did want to try it Im glad I did not there. I never did try any actually. Not any worth a damn anyways. But I ended up eating some acid. I had an awesome time I didn't dance because I was tripping balls and I was kind of shy. This one guy asked if I wanted to dance and I just remember saying in a very deep voice, well in my mind a very deep voice, " I can't... I ate sooome aaaaacid " I remember everyone was drinking water. No alcohol. Well none that saw. I asked someone much older than me why and they said it's because alcohol dehydrates you and with all the dancing they didn't want to get sick. She also said something about how alcohol doesn't mix well with ecstasy if you decide to eat any. IDK if that's true but Made since to me so I went with it. it got broke up from its original location, some warehouse on the outskirts of Atlanta and we had to move to a different place closer to downtown at like 2:00 in the morning. And the party continued. it just did not stop I'm sure it was still going when the sun came up and me and my friends left. I didn't end up getting into the rave scene all that much but I'm glad I did get to go to that one and experience it all the lights and music and just good vibes. I can honestly say there was nothing quit like it.
Where are these guys today? Where can I learn how to do this? This is dying art that old generation hasn't taken the responsiblity to show us how it's done. Instead, I have to spend hours to find this old clips.
