1:00 The TRUE first moment of player agency is as soon as you take control, and you can choose whether or not to stay in your office and close the door.
This game is not an illusion of choice because you are actively choosing different options that have different outcomes. A true illusion of choice would be if all the outcomes were the same, or if the choices you made in the story didn't change the story in any meaningful way. Or if you were presented with options, but the game only lets you select one option.
I understand what you're saying. It's Like "The Walking Dead," from Telltale Games, you think your choices matter, but it always ends the same. "All roads lead to Rome."
In fact you believe you have rebelled against these hidden ideas but you have complied with added publicity and complied to whoever taught you to write essays
I've seen one guy actually get stuck in the geometry of one of the forklifts in the "you're a real human" route, it's the only time i've ever seen someone get stuck like that, so that might be one of the few things the game hasn't accounted for
Love the video my guy but that subscribe graphic was poorly timed and far too loud. You should try to keep near the end of the video or slyly slip it into the middle of your commentary. The sound is just grating and the graphic blocked the subtitles. Nothing wrong with the actual essay itself. You also have good intonation and enunciation, your rhythm also plays well to the video format. I just feel like you tripped with that subscribe placement.
general generative AI’s like chatgpt etc, yes…not those that are specifically trained and prompted for the game to be witty, humorous and emotional engaging.

that's specifically framed as stanley choosing not to take agency though
Was going to comment this
Stanley parable is such a good game
I'm so close to %100 both versions on steam
I just have to wait 8 more years for "Super Go Outside"
All I need is the Tuesdays ones on both and the Super Go Outside
The stanley parable content in 2025 heals my soul, thank you for that
The first choice isn't to choose between the two doors, it's actually whether or not you decide to leave Stanley's office.
Love playing this game, have experienced at least five different endings. Great video and review
It’s fantastic! Thank you for the kind words :)
Now you have to them all again but with a bucket.

So like Assassins Creed Odyssey.

Oh no, the game with branching paths is a game with branching paths, I'm being played.
You would be surprised how many times a game with "multiple endings" actually doesn't have multiple endings.
@@thevikingbear2343 You mean games by telltale?

Playing through the game rn. Great video!

Playing Stanley Parable is fine, I guess, but nothing tops having a bucket.

Will take that on board thank you! I’m glad you enjoyed the video otherwise :)
Now just imagine TSP but the narrator is a LLM (ai Narrator) that actually adapts to everything you do 😂
That sounds like a terrible idea. The best parts of TSP are the jokes and the deep emotional commentary. Generative AI sucks at both those things.
