Congratulations Terry on another successful instal and video explanation of the main features and installation process. I think the manufacturer would be well pleased with your final rap, and motivated to try and improve the updates and install processes as much as possible. I wish these things were around 10 years ago!! . A very enjoyable watch ,as are all your contributions. looking forward to the finish of your recent QLD trip and the updates on the Toyota 40 Series restoration. Cheers Andrew
Thanks for your kind words and for taking the time to write them down Andy, I sincerely appreciate it. Next Friday I will release episode 3 of the Qld trip, I trust it stacks up mate. I spent the day in the shed today fitting disc brakes to the FJ45, so stay tuned for that one in the not too distant future. Again, thank you for taking the time to comment mate, it means a lot to me❤️👍
Thanks Sam, that’s very kind of you to say. The unit continues to perform faultless. I use it constantly. We just got back from a very remote and rough trip through WA (series currently running on the channel) and I used and abused it every day. Still going strong, zero issues or regrets. I know this is contrary to many others experience and I put that down to the firmware upgrade. Cheers👍😎
I have just had one if the 12" units installed in my LC200. It works particularly well, no issues. Now time for me to learn how to tap into the features more! Very informative and helpful video - thanks!
Thank you Mel, I’m glad you found some useful information here. Once you get your head around what these things can do, you will certainly be impressed. I appreciate you watching and commenting mate. Cheers😎👍
I have this unit. Without the obd cable plugged in the temp reads -40°...however with the cabled obd cable everything is correct including the door opening icons. When ever I unplugged the obd cable that cam with the unit, the temp went back to reading -40°. You can buy an obd port doubler or even a 3way outlet for around $20 to enable more obd devices to be connected. In my experience only the cabled obd cable gets everything working with the unit including temperature correctly. Not sure if this will help yours, but it was the solution for mine. Great videos by the way...awesome rig!
That’s great feedback Nathan and I trust something other users will read. I bought an OBD splitter and it did not work for me. Perhaps it was the fact that it was a crappy fleabay one. Good to know that it does work, thanks for sharing mate😎👍
@@JafffaAdventures oh.....another function that only worked with the cable was the reversing lines that move in the direction of travel. Without the cable they stay fixed.
@@nathanwestaust9992 Hi Nathan. I have just installed the head unit and finding all these new issues and features I have lost. I really like the reversing guide lines and would love to get them back. The OBD cable you speak of, where does that connect? (both ends please) Cheers.
Thanks for the series on these units. We recently bought a 200 series with one of these already installed and this certainly helped me understand the functionality. 👍🏼👍🏼
Just ordered one of the last V8 LC200 GXLs. About a 6 week wait for it to come off the production line in Japan and get shipped to WA. So I've been doing the rounds getting accessories lined up, including one of these 12 " units. They'll be installing it so it will work first go (hopefully 😆) and I'll avoid breaking any clips as I'm pretty ham fisted. Don't mind paying for good work. Thanks for your openness about your journey with it, like you said nobody else has done a video on this unit.
That is awesome news. I certainly agree with your thought process in having it installed and working first go. You will love the 200 mate, of that I am certain. Thanks for watching and commenting mate, I sincerely appreciate it😎👍
Great vid Jeff, and an Ozzy to boot. Just installed the unit myself and am now finding I have lost OEM features I liked. Should have done more homework before buying. I will join the FB group and work through the setup and hopefully become a happy camper. Cheers.
Good stuff Kevin. The only things I have lost are the curved reverse lines (mine are straight) and the outside air temp. A fair swap for what I have gained. Enjoy the journey mate. Cheers😎👍
Yes mate and it’s a very sweet ride if I do say so myself. Queensland is home, but I know what you mean mate. I remember a -36C in Canada one year. A blue spark shot out of the tip of your finger every time you touched something metal like a car door handle because the air was so bloody dry. Frightened the shit out of me every time it happened😂👍
Thanks Mark I appreciate it. Yes the unit supports CarPlay. I used it once but found that given it’s a mini computer in its own right, i does everything I want through its own operating system. Thanks for watching and commenting mate, I sincerely appreciate it 👍😎
@@JafffaAdventures great thanks for the clarification. To confirm. This is the PX6 unit from Phoenix? I’ve seen mixed reviews on these units on other vehicles. Having any buggy issues that have come up since you made this videos
It’s a PX6 that I got from EC Offroad. Im not sure if it’s the same as what phoenix sells. I have seen the glitchy reports as well. Once I had installed Sergey’s firmware it worked perfectly. No dramas since. Cheers
Well now this is very timely indeed as I’m just about to buy one of these for my 2019 Mitsubishi Pajero Sport. $1,350 is the price I have been quoted, plus install.
That's a pretty good price David, much cheaper than I paid, well done. I trust it will be exactly what you are after mate. Thanks for watching and commenting David, I sincerely appreciate it. Cheers!!
Awesome Video mate a lot of very helpful info. I have just ordered one of these after visiting Cale at Bundamba yesterday. Looking forward to installing and customizing it with my own Images. That will be interesting hmmm :) Have a great day Cheers Craig
Glad you found them useful Craig, it’s as honest and no BS as I can be. You will be fine with the customisation mate, it looks harder than it really is. Thanks for watching and commenting mate I sincerely appreciate it 😎👍
Thanks for watching and commenting mate, I sincerely appreciate it. I believe you have to have the custom skin loaded up first before you can add custom boot up images etc. To do that check out the FB page I referenced. There are detailed videos on how you do this, Sergey Koslov is the man. Thanks again for the kind words and watching.
This is a masterfully edited video. Highly organized and well thought out. I appreciate your honesty and the consideration given to your viewers of all the “good, the bad & the ugly” things which you have encountered along the journey from purchase to installation. You keep things interesting, entertaining and with your calm, clearly voiced step-by-steps, instill confidence and help your viewers feel as if they (we) can also do this installation relatively well. Thank you, Sir, for your videos. You’ve earned a subscriber from the Pacific NW! Cheers!
You’re kind words are very much appreciated and I am humbled that you have recognised the amount of work that goes into these videos. As I do not earn any money from what I do on UA-cam, my only motivation is to help or entertain and when I get comments like yours, it reinforces that I am on point. Thank you again mate, I sincerely appreciate it 😎👍
@@JafffaAdventures ~ you’re the master, here, Sir! I’m merely just another face in the audience watching you do what you enjoy doing. I’m just like Officer Richard Lymangood : “J A F O “ Stay safe, Brother.
Terry, we are watching you !! Good on you.... we wait for the next glitch!! And your work around !! Good luck and safe travel. Cheers PS 45 sec. Cold start.??? I just completed 14 days quarantine in a very basic hotel . So what’s worse?
Thanks for watching and commenting mate, I sincerely appreciate it. Locked in a basic hotel has got to be worse mate, I’ll take my 45 second boot up time any day of the week!😂👍
Hi I have the same unit in my 200 is there any way you could give me so e info on how to customise the unit eg get my car on the screen thanks, great video by the way thanks again
Thanks for the kind words Glen. The only way to customise it is to update it with the Sergey firmware I discussed, without that it’s impossible. Best to reach out to him directly, he is very responsive. Cheers😎👍
Terry, you mentioned in a previous video that if you had a iphone you had to manually connect to the wifi everytime you started the car up. Was this issue solved when you changed the warm start and cold start settings or do you still need to connect wifi and hotspot manually everytime you start the car up?
Sergey did an update to his firmware and it now connects automatically. You still have to have the hotspot page open on your iPhone, but if you do it connects up every time. Cheers Chase👍😎
Hi Terry excellent video mate 2 questions mate 1 on 2016 kakado i have the buttons for up and down of rear bags and kdss setting's do the unit that setting? .And 2 could i connect a sat phone to it .Keep the top work up mate. 😎👌😜
Thanks for your kind words Colin, I really do appreciate it. Those are very good questions mate, and unfortunately I don’t have the answer to either . I do know you can assign the up down steering wheel controls to many different functions, I just don’t know if the functions you mentioned are included in the list. Regarding connecting a sat phone, the unit is just like a simple computer. If you can connect your sat phone to a computer I would expect you could connect to this unit via the same methodology. Sorry I could not be more definitive mate. Cheers😎👍
I like this but I wish there were a few more analog dials and buttons left. I like to have the volume control knob and the fan speed control as tactile buttons that I can feel without looking. I'd love a head unit like this that was a little more hybrid
Thanks for your kind words mate, I sincerely appreciate it. The skin customisations are part of the firmware upgrade that Sergey Koslov provides. There are over 20 available I believe. Cheers😎👍
Hey mate, Love the vid. How is your new antenna going? I am about to get a Emuwing and noticed you added a smaller antenna, Is it DAB+ as well as FM/AM? Do you have a link where you purchased?
Thanks for watching and for your question Lewis. It’s just a cheap AM/FM antenna off fleabay that you can find with a simple search. It’s ok, but if I were to do it again I would probably spend a bit more and get a better quality antenna. The only thing stopping me from swapping it out is that I rarely listen to the radio, I stream most of my audio content now because there is so much more choice. Thanks again for watching mate😎👍
Thanks for the kind words Henry. When first installed the skip forward when backwards, and the skip backwards went forward. It was a simple change in the settings menu that got that sorted. I suspect the reason for that was because it was set up for a LHD. Anyway, simple fix and has not missed a bear since the install. Cheers😎👍
Hi ,I’ve bought a 12” screen Tesla style, from “ Merge Screens” in China. Didn’t think it was China until the shipment tracking…… however, installation has proved tricky. One of the connectors won’t connect with the car’s connector. The pins don’t line up. Everything seems to be ok except the hazard warning flashers and that what is on little cluster of buttons on the original Toyota unit don’t work, so I guess this connector is the one that controls those functions. Obviously I can’t have those not working because it would be illegal in the UK. Also the DAB aerial won’t attach to the unit as the little brass screw is not correct. Anyone help me? I’m totally Luddite when it comes to car mechanics, electricals, but I have had a tablet (iPad mini and iPhone for many years). And I’ve had Apple CarPlay in several cars too. I want that sort of functionality in my LC 4.2 V8 Diesel 2013. HELP! Chris.
Sorry I cannot help you Chris but there might be someone in the community that can. If not here, I would check the Tesla head unit FaceBook group that I reference in the video. Good luck mate.
Hi Kayla, sorry I do not mate. I have a VX and it does not come with a rear entertainment system. I would reach out to EC Offroad and see if thy can advise. Cheers😎👍
Great video. Thanks! Do you have a link for the unit you purchased? Does the windshield whisper defrost still work? Have you been able to configure a button for that?
Sure do mate, it’s this one. www.ecvisionsound.com/collections/gxl-altitude-1/products/12inch-head-unit-for-landcruiser-200-2007-2015?variant=32650880680039 Whether this particular unit works for you depends on your trim level and model year. Check that out carefully. All climate control functions work perfectly, including the windscreen defroster. No need to configure a button as it’s in the climate control panel already. Thanks for watching and commenting Peter😎👍
Thanks for your kind words Ray, I certainly appreciate it. Regarding the scan gauge, are you referring to codes that allow your to program the scan gauge to read custom metrics like ATF temp, or are you referring to the trouble codes that the Landcruiser ECU throws when a fault is recorded. It’s no to the first one, and yes to the second. Cheers😎👍
Hi Ray, please go online and check the web page. You can see allot info for all the possible readings and how to set up the different pages for your model fault codes are couple different story you can buy also a dongle and connect a second unit. But the woul be overkill during driving. Cheers
Thanks for the feedback Wayne, I sincerely appreciate your kind words. It’s fine in full sunlight on an oblique angle, but a bit difficult to see if the sun is direct. Having said that, I rarely get that direct sunlight where it’s shining straight on it so have never really noticed it as an issue for me. Cheers😎👍
You are very welcome. Sorry mate, I cannot advise on a supplier as I just don’t know. This video was designed to share my experience as a user, not to evaluate suppliers. Cheers
Gday, Great Video. Thanks very much. I have this same unit in my y62 Nissan patrol. I really love the boot up photos and customisation that appears when you start up. I'd love to have that on my car. It would be great to see how you have done that. I'm also in that Facebook group you mentioned. Have you created any post in that group outlining how you went about customising your unit? Do you have the Sergey update? Thanks Mate.
Thanks for the kind words mate. The boot up screens can only be modified if you have Sergey’s as I noted in the video. I do not have instructions how to do it but Sergey has posted this on the forum you mentioned. Cheers👍😎
Gday Terry, congrats on an excellent review, one of the best I have seen. How is the brightness of the screen when driving in bright sunny conditions? My primary use is OziExploer with Hema maps out bush. Even the best tablets will suffer in direct sunlight but many after market devices appear pretty faded on simply high glare days. My benchmark is a Samsung or Apple tablet in the same area on the dash.
Thanks for the kind words Mike, I certainly do appreciate it as I put a bit of work into it. Your primary use is identical to my primary use, so we are singing from the same hymn sheet. I have not had a problem seeing the screen in bright sunny conditions. I previously used an iPad on a RAM mount and found it more difficult to read. I think the reason for this was the oblique angle of the iPad. It sat on a 20-30 degree angle. The head unit is on an 80 degree angle so is easier to read, and not subject to reflection as bad as my iPad. Having said that, I cannot comment on iPad at 80 degrees vs head unit at 80 degrees. I trust this is useful, if not hit me up again mate. Cheers😎👍
I’m no expert on these units but a couple of things I would check. Firstly, can you download anything at all? If not then your hotspot off your phone (or however you are getting wifi signal) is not working and that’s where I would look next. If you can download other apps or stream music for example, then you do a secure connection and it’s something to do specifically with Hema. I would check the comments section of the app in the App Store and see if others have had problems. Mine downloaded fine but that was a year or so back so maybe something has changed since then. Cheers
@@JafffaAdventures Good day Terry no I cant down load anything wifi signal weak to car I setup a wifi extender made no difference, looking at hooking up a usb modem to the system to try and download maps. I tried bluetooth and hotspot to the IPhone to no avail. I will keep trying it is a process of illimination. Thanks
Hi thank your prompt reply previously, I have just bought and installed the 16” unit in my landcruiser. I note your advice that not to use a password on the google account and I need to add Hema maps how can I do this without logging on to google. Thank you again and keep the videos going
Hi Peter, it’s not actually the Google Play Store that screwed mine up, it was my Gmail account. I put a password on Gmail in case someone stole my car they could not access my email without a password. That’s when the world crashed down around me. Your account on the play store should work fine. Cheers😎👍
Terry thanks for your honest review, I am considering updating the head unit in my 2012 GXL, may I ask why you decided on the 12 inch unit , assuming the 16 was available, Love your content, keep up the great work 👍
Thanks for your kind words Paul, I really do appreciate it. I did not go with the larger unit because is stuck a little proud on the top and I did not like the look. It was for no other reason than that mate, they both have the same functionality. Keep the shiny side up Paul, cheers😎👍
Good question Daniel. It was just a personal preference thing, I felt the 16” just looked a little out of place. Thanks for watching and commenting mate, I sincerely appreciate it 😎👍
Hi David, good to connect. Mine takes a bit to connect (can take as long as a minute or two) but once it is connected it rarely drops out. I’m not an expert so don’t really have any suggestions other than to say that the instability you are experiencing seems unusual. Do you have Sergey’s firmware? It certainly fixes a lot of bugs. If you don’t it’s worth reaching out to him. Cheers😎👍
Hi thank you for the video most informative, question to use an iPhone for telephone calls do I first need to hot spot it or will it connect automatically? i have ordered a 16inch unit
Thanks for watching and for your kind words Peter, I sincerely appreciate it. Mine connects automatically through Bluetooth, no need to hotspot. Cheers😎👍
Hey mate! Awesome video, I have just purchased the same headunit for my 2011 gxl, works mint . I would like to customise it like yours and wondering if you could help or point me in the right direction for the same set up as yours but with pictures of my own vehicle? Cheers and keep up the good work. Joel.
Thanks for the kind words Joel, I sincerely appreciate it. To get custom skins and photos of your own car you must run Sergey’s firmware. Without it you cannot do it. With it you can do that and soo much more. He is an administrator on the FB group I pointed to in the video. Just reach out to him directly mate and he can sort you out. Cheers😎👍
Great Videos Terry. Nearly ready to pull the trigger on this unit. Having several issues with an android unit purchased 2 years ago, so a bit shy. One of the problems is not being able to see the screen when wearing polaroid sun glasses. How does this unit stack up in that regard? Cheers
Thanks for the kind words Chris, I sincerely appreciate it. I have polarised sunnies as well and I can still read the unit but it is definitely harder than without the glasses. If you can find a unit installed and check it out for yourself that would be the go. EC Offroad, the guys I bought mine from, all had them in their cars so it should not be too hard to find one. Your welcome to inspect mine if you are in the Brisbane area as well. Cheers😎👍
No Johann, no solution to the outside air temp issue. In fact, I know of others with the same problem so I know it’s not unique to me. Thanks for watching mate 😎👍
Hi John, great question mate. Yes I have used it and it works very well. I have NOT used it outside of 3G/4G range and that is my next trial. Cheers and thanks for watching 😎👍
Hi. Great videos, very helpful, thank you. EC Offroad now has a video showing dash removal and unit connection. I'm interested in towing camera - would this be easily installed? Also the OBD - would your scan gauge unit not be required. Having these functions/not having to buy seperate items helps justify the $1600 price...
Thanks for the kind words, I sincerely appreciate it. I try my best to put content together that is both useful and at times entertaining. I'm glad you found some value. I do not tow so I have not hooked a camera up for that purpose but there are certainly AV inputs that would allow this. You would have to reach out to EC Offroad to get the details on how to do this as it is above my pay grade!! I have not been able to get the head unit to display the OBD items that I track (boost, trans temp, etc). It may be able to, but I have not tried. The reason is that I LOVE the OBD readings directly in my line of sight from the scan gauge, just like the factory gauge cluster is. It is easy to monitor without having to call up a different screen (because I have maps displayed on the Tesla unit full time). I trust this answers your questions and it just exemplifies how individual these decisions really are. Cheers!
Thanks for the kind words Trevor, I really do appreciate it. Those are my EGT gauges, the left one reads the left bank, the right one reads the right bank. I custom made the gauge pod from a round gauge plastic unit I got off eBay and bonded it to the dash panel. I have a three part rig rundown video series in the library and I go into more detail on them in the interior episode. Thanks for watching and commenting 😎👍
Hi Terry - You have had this head unit in for about a year now, including on some pretty rough terrain on your trips, I was wondering whether it has remained totally reliable over this time? I'm considering purchasing one for my car (not a Landcruiser) so I'd appreciate your feedback.
Hi Peter, it’s actually 2 years as of this week. It’s never missed a best mate. Never glitches out, never stopped working, never sone any funky head scratching business at all. I’d go again with one if I was replacing my cruiser (which I’m not😉). I do have the Sergey firmware that I mentioned in the video so that may help stability. Cheers😎👍
Hi Terry, how are you going with the 12” unit, if you had to do this again, would you buy one again? What are your thoughts on the unit months down the track Keep up the awesome work, greatly appreciated 👍 Cheers
Very good question mate. I’ve had it installed for about 9 months now and still love it. It has not played up once. No funky business, not once have I said “what the h$&* was that”. I would definitely repurchase again BUT it only if I could again get Sergey’s firmware. That’s the key to the whole shooting match when it comes to stability in my opinion. Thanks for the great question mate, I sincerely appreciate it 😎👍
You need the custom software to be able to do this. Best to check out the Facebook group I mentioned in the video and do a search there. Thanks for watching 😎👍
Question on the gps maps. If the unit had no internet connection, i.e. driving in an area with no mobile reception, do the maps still work correctly, or are the maps pre-loaded (like an old school, dash mount gps unit)?
Good question Steven. The Australian Topo maps app has all the maps preloaded onto the units internal storage so they are available when I am out of signal range. The really powerful point with this app is that you can download satellite imagery and have that off line as well. I’ve only used this in a limited capacity so far, but it looks great from what I have experimented with. Cheers😎👍
Hi just wondering how you customize your screen? And how does hema maps work? I can search an address, the maps goes to that address but no directions? Not sure what else to do
You have to download special firmware and overwrite the current firmware to be able to customise the unit. Sergey koslov on the FB group I mentioned is where I got my custom firmware. The installation is complex but he does provide step by step instructions. Re Hema, I’ve not used it for navigation to a particular spot (ie type in address and then go to from your current location). I use Hema to track my real time location, specifically when I am in remote locations. For general nav in cities etc I use Sygic. Cheers😎👍
Hi - I just found your channel and watched all your videos on these units, as I am considering buying one. Firstly thank you for posting all of these - great videos and excellent commentary. For me, I am keen to find something that at least can uplift the car with Apple Car Play and Android Auto, but in my investigations I found this pretty sexy looking Tesla-esque unit. ECOffroad have emailed and said there is absolutely no loss of functionality - very interesting to hear about your dramas with the outside temperature display. I am a keen spotify user, so no issues with connecting via android auto or apple car play and playing music ? Thanks in advance.
Thank you for your kind words Richard, I put a lot of effort into my videos and although I know they are by no means professional quality, it’s good to see you have found some value in them. I disagree with the “absolutely no loss of functionality” statement from EC Offroad. My outside temperature still does not work, and I doubt it every will. Having said that, it’s the only thing that does not work that I have found. Apple CarPlay works fine. A little slow in connecting sometimes but never had it not connect. I can’t comment on Spotify as I don’t have the app downloaded. What I can say is that every app I have downloaded (and there are quite a number) works. I trust this was what you were after, if not shoot me another message, I respond to everything. Cheers 😎👍
@@JafffaAdventures I am interested in your thoughts around whether the price tag for that screen size was worth it in your opinion , versus getting say the smaller 10” screen? I am still in two minds as it is a really awesome looking bit of kit, but it’s pricey and I am concerned about some of those faults in functionality Would appreciate your thoughts please Thank you
Hi Richard, good question. I think the screen size will come down to a personal preference based on what you use it for. I do a lot off off road traveling and good maps are important to me. No one mapping package has it all. For that reason I usually run two maps simultaneously because I find what one map is missing the second map has and vice versa. The 12” screen allows me to display both maps at the same time and I find this really helpful, rather than closing one map and then having to open a second. Now the 10” may have this functionality (I never checked) but I wanted the largest viewing area possible when running two maps hence my reason with going for the one I have. I was not a fan of the 16”, that just looks a little out of place in my opinion. I trust this is helpful mate. Cheers😎👍
Hey mate, I added the Tesla group to Facebook, and I am more confused than I was before. I want a real world review on the sound from them. DO they need an amp? Do they come with an amp? LC 200, 2015 pre facelift.
I’ll try and help out best I can Geoff. Firstly, no they do not come with an amp. I have a 2010 VX. Compared to the factory head unit, and using the same factory speakers, the Tesla unit is streets in front. Much better sound quality in all aspects. What I can’t tell you is if that will be good enough for you because music is such a personal experience. So do they need an amp? For me no, for you maybe, I really can’t say. I trust this was useful mate. Cheers😎👍
A question re Google password. I haven't entered my Google password (I seen your warning), but in order to load apps, it needs my password. If there a way to load apps, sign into UA-cam etc without entering my Google password? Thanks for any tips.
Hi Mel, good question. It’s not actually your Google account password that creates the drama. I loaded Gmail and put a password on my gmail account in case someone stole the car they could not access my account. That’s the one that created all the dramas. Cheers 😎👍
Thanks mate for sharing! I been looking at these on ebay for a couple of month, but I havnt pulled the trigger yet. As I dont have a supplier in my country (sweden) I have to find one on ebay. Any advice purchacing for ebay, any specific brand to look for? My LC200 is from 2009 and I dont have any in cockpit aux plugg in.
Thanks for the kind words and for reaching out Sam, I would have never guessed that someone from Sweden may watch my video, that is VERY cool!! I don't have any recommendations for specific brands on ebay, sorry. Ebay does have pretty good protection if things go bad, so there is that safety net. The only thing I could suggest is to have a look at the ratings and comments of the seller for the particular item you are interested in. My car also does not have an in cockpit aux plug and the unit works perfectly fine without it. Good luck in your search mate, and thanks again. Cheers!!
(no) Google password - NOTED! I can not believe you managed to do all of this 3 years ago (!). I presume it is easier now. Ours will be fitted to a 2011 200 series Landcruiser 4.6L. Ideally we will buy it installed by some local expert.
Again, thank you for taking the time to comment mate, it means a lot to me❤️👍
Great video mate, really well made as are the rest of your collection. A few years on, with the sergey update how’s the unit performing?
Ooo, very cool. As you note, mine are fixed. Thanks again for sharing 😎👍
Good stuff mate. I’m glad I could be of some assistance. Go well😎👍
Just ordered one of the last V8 LC200 GXLs.
Cheers😎👍
good to see you can drive it now . minus 40 just makes you feel you are at home
You can automate the iphone to start the hotspot when carplay is activated. That way it should automatically connect.
Thanks for the suggestion 👍😎
excellent review, Terry. Does the unit support CarPlay?

Great review Terry
Thanks Danny, you are very kind to reach out and share your feedback. Cheers😎👍
Awesome Video mate a lot of very helpful info. I have just ordered one of these after visiting Cale at Bundamba yesterday. Looking forward to installing and customizing it with my own Images. That will be interesting hmmm :)
Have a great day Cheers Craig
Glad you found them useful Craig, it’s as honest and no BS as I can be. You will be fine with the customisation mate, it looks harder than it really is. Thanks for watching and commenting mate I sincerely appreciate it 😎👍
Love your videos mate, wondering if you could show us how you do the intro and customisable pictures please.

PS 45 sec. Cold start.??? I just completed 14 days quarantine in a very basic hotel . So what’s worse?

Are you able to provide a link to the Facebook page for the Tesla Style Firmware and Head Units
If you jump onto Facebook and search Tesla Style PX6 Headunits. Firmware, software and support you will find it no worries. Cheers👍😎
Yes, there is something to be said for the tactile feel of analogue that’s for sure. Thanks for dropping by👍😎
Hi mate im loving your videos. Just a question, where can i get the skin customisations you did on your unit?
Great unit and brilliant video on install. Did u have any issues with the steering controls?
Hi Terry,
We have just purchased a Sahara with this unit installed already. Do you know how we can turn on the rear entertainment system?
Hi Kayla, sorry I do not mate. I have a VX and it does not come with a rear entertainment system. I would reach out to EC Offroad and see if thy can advise. Cheers😎👍
Great video. Thanks! Do you have a link for the unit you purchased? Does the windshield whisper defrost still work? Have you been able to configure a button for that?
Sure do mate, it’s this one.

Whether this particular unit works for you depends on your trim level and model year. Check that out carefully.
All climate control functions work perfectly, including the windscreen defroster. No need to configure a button as it’s in the climate control panel already.
Thanks for watching and commenting Peter😎👍
Do you have any problems with sunlight/reflection etc.?
No not at all mate, surprisingly enough. I do know they sell anti glare screens if you need one but I’ve never found the need. Cheers👍😎
Have you done a brake upgrade on your 200? If so, what did you do? It would be a good video!
Working on it now, vid should be out in a few weeks👍😎
I enjoyed the review thanks very much but I have an unrelated question. Do you have a comprehensive list of codes for the Scangauge by any chance?
Cheers
Hi Terry great video. Thank you. Just one question how does the unit go in full sunlight? Can you actually see the screen in detail ?
Cheers Wayne
Thanks for the feedback Wayne, I sincerely appreciate your kind words. It’s fine in full sunlight on an oblique angle, but a bit difficult to see if the sun is direct. Having said that, I rarely get that direct sunlight where it’s shining straight on it so have never really noticed it as an issue for me. Cheers😎👍
Thank you for the video! Do you recommend getting the unit from aliexpress? Do they have same quality?
You are very welcome. Sorry mate, I cannot advise on a supplier as I just don’t know. This video was designed to share my experience as a user, not to evaluate suppliers. Cheers
@@JafffaAdventures Fair enough! Thank you so much 😊

Hi mate just out of curiosity did you install Sergey firmware?
100% I did mate, just like I highlighted in this video that you commented on. This unit is a POS without it. With it, brilliant. Cheers👍😎

Thanks for the kind words mate. The boot up screens can only be modified if you have Sergey’s as I noted in the video. I do not have instructions how to do it but Sergey has posted this on the forum you mentioned. Cheers👍😎
@@JafffaAdventures thanks again. I will check it out
No worries 👍😎
Cheers😎👍
I am having trouble downloading the hema maps
Thanks
Sounds like you are onto it mate as it’s not a Hema specific issue but one of connectivity in general. Good luck sorting it out. Cheers😎👍
Cheers😎👍
Hey mate I have the 16 “ one and can’t find the 24 hr setting in the user settings for the boot up can you please help

Hey mate. Thanks for the great info on these units. Is there any particular reason you didn’t go for the 16” or was it just your personal preference?
Good question Daniel. It was just a personal preference thing, I felt the 16” just looked a little out of place. Thanks for watching and commenting mate, I sincerely appreciate it 😎👍
Hi my px6 drops. My hotspot from iPhone it’s 16 in can help me please thank if you can.

Cheers😎👍

Does wiki camps maps work while your driving?
Never used wiki maps mate, all my other mapping software and apps do however. Cheers

Hi, great videos , I am considering the 10" for my 2020 LC200 apparently it's the same unit but smaller still happy?

Hi Terry have you used the Hema Maps Apps on the unit? If yes how does they perform?
Cheers!
Nice info mate thanks for sharing
Thanks for the kind words and taking the time to comment, I sincerely appreciate it 😎👍
hello good video! can you please let me know that those two displays on the dash above the read unit are?
Cheers😎👍
@@JafffaAdventures Awesome, thanks very much.

Hi Terry, how are you going with the 12” unit, if you had to do this again, would you buy one again? What are your thoughts on the unit months down the track

Not sure what else to do
Oops forgot to add I have this unit for my 2016 GXL
I am still in two minds as it is a really awesome looking bit of kit, but it’s pricey and I am concerned about some of those faults in functionality
Would appreciate your thoughts please
Thank you
Hi Richard, good question.

Cheers!!
What is the memory size in this unit? Do you have full time connected a back up mem stick? Size?? Cheers
